WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. Howdy, nice people in the Northeast! My name is Kai, and I am a handsome little Pug/Chihuahua mix currently living in San Antonio, Texas (but hopefully not for long). I am about 1 year old, and just a little tyke weighing only 8.8 lbs. I was dumped in the street, creating quite a traffic jam while trying frantically to get myself safely out of that mess, when a very nice lady emerged, called me over, and I jumped into her arms! Whew, that was a close call! That nice lady is now my foster mom, and I've been vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and photographed so I can find a forever home! I’m a sweet little guy, a bit shy at first meeting, but overall happy and friendly with people, cats, and other dogs. I love playtime with toys, kids, doggy friends, heck, I’m just a playful youngster. I also love being petted and loved on, sharing doggy kisses, and I am very cuddly. I know how to use a potty pad when stuck indoors, and I am doing great with housebreaking lessons and learning about leash walking. I’m good in a crate when the humans are at work, whining just a bit at first, but I settle down quickly and am uber excited when they get home! I don't mind a car ride, and I’m not scared of loud noises or thunderstorms.
