Hi there, I am a handsome Pug mix named Baxter and I was living in Laredo Texas with my owner but they paid no attention to me and let me roam unsupervised. A local rescue group found me lying in the middle of the street and when they found my owner they were told to keep me. I am now living a much better life in a foster home, safe and cared for, being vaccinated and neutered, and only one thing could make my life any better… a real forever home, and that is where you come in. I am a very sweet boy, about 2 years old, weigh 18 lbs and I’m friendly. I get along with other dogs and enjoy their company, but they are not my main focus. I love attention from humans, pets, and kisses, playing with doggy toys, and snacking on peanut butter doggy treats. I’m a bit independent, not a velcro dog, but I LOVE spending time with you, going for walks and rides in the car, I’m an excellent doggy companion. I’ll stay in a crate if you need me to, but it’s really not necessary, cuz I’m housebroken and well-behaved. I will be moving to Connecticut on the next transport outta here, looking for love and some fun and just a much better future than the one I started with! * 4 Little Paws is based in CT. **AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER TO ADOPT! Meet the Adorable Albert! This 7-year-old, 28-pound puggle mix from the Bronx is eagerly waiting for his forever home and is now eligible for foster-to-adopt! Albert came to us from the local ACC to keep him out of the overcrowded shelter system. Unfortunately, his past few years have been tough—he’s been shuffled between multiple homes, making him a bit anxious and uncertain. Despite this, Albert is full of energy and love, ready to brighten up a new family’s life. Over the past few weeks, Albert has been working with our trainer and has shown he’s a real sweetheart when his needs are met. He loves playing tug-of-war and fetch, and enjoys long walks exploring the neighborhood. Like most pug mixes, Albert is very food-motivated, which makes training a breeze. He’s been learning basic obedience and even works for his meals throughout the day, whether on walks or during training sessions. Albert gets along with other dogs but can be a bit pushy. He doesn’t always understand when his playmates need a break, so he needs an owner who can read dog body language and step in when he gets too excited. **Key Points to Know:**- Albert has been available for almost 7 months, patiently waiting for the right family.- He thrives on companionship and needs people who are home most of the time.- Albert has shown great progress with balanced training methods, and his new owner will receive two free training sessions to help him adjust to his new home.- Due to his past experiences, Albert will need a few months of decompression and structure. Midge is the most snaggle-toothed pup we've ever seen! She was rescued from a shelter in Texas a year ago and is still waiting to find her forever home - Midge is about 9 years old and weighs 13 pounds. Midge is a laid-back girl who just wants to follow you around everywhere – she loves the company of her family! She is well behaved in the car and she really loves her daily walks. She is currently living with 2 other dogs and has no problem keeping up with them even though they are half her age! Midge listens well and, being food driven, is easily trained. Midge is housetrained, however, she may need a puppy pad if left alone for 8 hours. When she is left home alone, she has the freedom to roam the place – she does not like being crated and doesn’t need to be. Midge sleeps on her own through the night without incident but would prefer to sleep in the same room as her people. Midge has fistulas (holes) in the roof of her mouth and it is possible for her occasionally to get food stuck in her nose. But Midge usually just sneezes the food out so you don’t have to do anything about it. Only once did a vet find food in her nose when she was being examined on a routine visit. Midge came into rescue with horrible teeth - she had a number of bad teeth removed but she is still the snaggle-toothed girl we love! Midge currently requires a tiny sprinkle of medicinal powder on her food to ensure her pancreas functions properly. Although Midge gets along with dogs, she might bark when she encounters new-to-her dogs on a walk. She sounds like a goat when she barks – it is actually quite cute!
