Story
Hannah spent the majority of her life in a caring home, loved. It was explained that her owner was a dog trainer and she happened to have some “Titles” awarded. (We do not have any documentation) On the farm, where she lived, she was a very good ‘ratter’. Her owner passed, and his family who came up from FL to settle the affairs, left Hannah at the shelter, where we agreed to help find her next loving place to call home! This loyal, intelligent girl needs a gentle, calm place to land. Do you have a calm home? Are you looking for a well trained companion? Please consider Hannah. She is spayed, tested, vaccinated, on preventions, and microchipped. Email me for an adoption application : marysmutts05@gmail.com

SOOOOOO how many people remember Starsky and Hutch?? Probably not too many! But if you DO, please don't prejudice us with the "wildness" of our namesakes'! OK, we are a LITTLE wild and cute cute cute! Found in a neighborhood together at about 2-3 months old, we could have had a very different life.... however, we were found by a couple of high school boys who immediately drove us to the rescue to see if they would help at 5pm on a Friday evening. AND IT WORKED!!! We are a couple of cute boys, we are barkers and that is part of the breed- Rat Terriers are busy and smart and active and they bark! We are cute when we bark though :) We do not have to be adopted together, although we love each other and have been together our WHOLE lives.... but we can be adopted apart. We may be nervous at first if adopted separately but if you follow the 3/3/3 rule, it will take us time to adjust in our new home anyway!! (you will find a copy of the 3/3/3 rules in our medical record if you adopt one or both of us) We are waiting for the right family/families to come along and we hope that we find you or you find us soooonnnnn!! Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Adopt Dolce: Your New Best Friend in Training! I am so sweet, watch my video.. Meet Dolce, a pint-sized terrier with a heart full of love! At just 15 lbs and around 1-2 years old with soulful eyes, Dolce is the perfect mix of sweet and spunky. She is a gentle soul who's always up for playtime. She loves making new doggy friends and will brighten your day with her wagging tail and warm eyes. While she enjoys playtime, Dolce is also a quiet little lady who’s happy to relax by your side. Dolce is working on trusting humans and can be a bit shy and timid at first, but she’s always so gentle and just needs a little patience and love to blossom. Once Dolce settles in, she’ll be the most loyal and loving companion you could ask for. Ready to give Dolce the forever home she deserves? Mostly housebroken and crate trained, Dolce is also learning to walk on a leash. With a bit of guidance and encouragement, she’ll be your perfect walking buddy but for now a fenced yard is a requirement for this sweet girl. We wish we knew her story, but she is a young dog (she found herself in a high-kill shelter in Texas and would most certainly have been euthanized if not pulled), coming out of her shell more and more each day-will jump up on the couch to sit with you, she isn't yet fully comfortable with being picked up but will allow it- then she just melts into you, loves her scratches and snuggles. Dolce still has a way to go but looking for her hero who will give her time to become the gem that she will be. PLEASE NOTE- AN APPLICATION FROM THE WEBSITE ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG IS REQUIRED prior to any meet and greet. Calling, emailing and using the “contact us” link is not useful and will delay your consideration in the adoption of the dog. Petfinder inquires are not sent to us. The adoption fee is $425, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including age appropriate vaccinations, worming, flea/tick preventative and spay/neuter. All of our dogs will be microchipped. APPLY AT ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG (click on the word "Adopt" at top of page to find the dropdown menu with application) Because our dogs are in foster homes, applications are required prior to setting up any appointments. Calling or emailing may delay your consideration. Find our application on our website, almosthomedogs.org, then click on "Adopt" tab at top We are a non profit no kill 501 (c)3 rescue. Please understand that we do our best to describe our dogs but often we rescue them with virtually no information about them and often our best educated guess can be challenging. Currently check, cash or venmo is preferred payment

Story
Squirt is all about spreading joy! He is a playful young pup with a curious nature and friendly personality. While fetch might not be his thing, Squirt makes up for it with his personality. He loves to play and run around, but also loves hanging out and napping with his favorite human. He generally seems to get along with dogs. He may be a tad shy meeting new people, but give him a minute and he will be your best friend. He is an unknown around kids, but due to his size, he would be best with kids over 10 years. He’s a pro on the leash, making walks a delightful adventure. Just be prepared for some toy evisceration—Squirt’s enthusiasm knows no bounds! Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to welcome Squirt into your home and experience the joy of having a furry friend by your side! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.Small and full of the joy of life, Angel has super long, slender legs and a loving temperament. She was raised around many other dogs and cats and is good with all of them. She loves to be with her person and enjoys car rides. Always interested and happy to see and try new things, you would never know she is an older girl unless she told you she was 7. Healthy and happy, she was born to be a companion dog and her small natural weight and size have helped her with that goal. She tries hard to always be a good girl and will look to her human to see what is expected. Long done with puppy nuttiness, she has learned the wisdom of being able to sit quietly, but really enjoys being out and about, too. If you are thinking of adding a little girl to your home, Angel is a perfect choice.   If you are interested in Angel, please fill out an application at: https://reachoutrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=4588    Or contact: rorrcanine@gmail.com   *** Click here to sponsor this dog! ***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 23, 2024, 10:55 am

Story
Jayden is a sweet pup with basic house and obedience training including crate training. She is very high energy, curious, and eager to learn new tricks. Her favorite games are tug, fetch, and chase, and she loves a good squeaky toy. I think she would do best in a single person household, preferably someone who woks from home and has lots of time and energy to dedicate to training and entertaining her. Jayden does struggle with reactivity, separation anxiety, resource guarding, and fear-based aggression. We have been working with her vet and a behavioral vet to develop a behavioral modification plan which currently includes anti-anxiety medications. I know that she will be the perfect companion for someone with time and dedication to help conquer her fears and I want to find her a forever home where all of her needs are met.

Story
Hi. I'm Horace and my foster mom wants me to tell you some things about me. First, thanks for rubbing my belly. I can tell you're the kind of person I'd like to get to know better because having my belly rubbed is the first step that leads to all out snuggling, especially after I‘ve exhausted all my puppy energy, when, my foster mom says, I'm "the best snuggler."That's right: I'm "the best." And, I'm also still a puppy, sometimes doing puppy things, like jumping and puppy-nipping when I'm excited. We're working on this. In the meantime, I am learning more every day about how to be a grown-up dog. So I already know "sit," "wait," "out," and "back" (away from door), and I'm working on "stay." When my foster family asks me to, I hand over toys and objects willingly with "drop it." I love taking walks around the neighborhood and am grateful that my foster family is kindly helping me learn not to be so shy around new things.I like treats, squeaky stuffed animals, antlers to chew on, as well as having doggie playmates. I'm crate trained-which is good for a puppy who could get into things left on his own-and I spend time in my crate when my foster family is not home. Being crated next to my dog buddy is the best. In fact, I cry if left in the crate without another dog nearby.I love other dogs. This is probably the most important thing you should know about me. The only forever home for me will already have at least one dog I can be a companion with. In fact, it's a condition for anyone who would like to make me part of their family. Here are a couple of other things you should know. Before I came to AARF, some traumatic things happened to me. I don't know what, but anyway, I had to have one of my legs removed. Does this slow me down? Ha-ha. I am also blind in one eye, so while I play and run and wrestle with my dog friends, my depth perception isn't always good so I can't catch things and sometimes I bump into things.Bottom line: I'm "the softest, cutest," happiest dog, who brings joy wherever I go. What do you think? If you'd like to take me home, please fill out an adoption application at this website-www.animalalliesrescue.org/adoption-application-and choose me, Horace ! My adoption fee is $400 and AARF wants me to tell you that their adoption package covers all expenses needed to prepare dogs like me for our forever homes. By the time you meet us, we've already been spayed/neutered (if age appropriate) and microchipped. We've been checked by a veterinarian, and we're up to date on age appropriate immunizations against rabies and DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus). We've been tested for heartworm and other tick borne diseases (4DX), and we've started our heartworm and flea preventive medications. Some of us have had extensive surgeries, dental work, or other necessary procedures. AARF is committed to getting all of us entirely ready for a happy, healthy, love-filled life!
