Current Location: Alexandria, VA Fern is a 2 yr old, 60 lb bundle of life with energy and personality to spare. She is a sweet young girl who loves to play, sniff, and explore. She thrives when she is part of the action. Fern prefers being near her people rather than in her crate, and she lights up the moment she gets attention. She greets dogs with enthusiasm and greets people with pure joy. Fern has great house manner - never an accident, and fully housetrained. And she loves a car ride - sign her up for any outing. Fern will do best in an active home with another friendly, playful dog and a fenced yard. She loves adventure and enjoys staying busy. Her leash skills are improving, and a gentle leader has helped her make steady progress. Her training grows stronger each day. She knows sit and wait, and she is making great progress with come. She learns quickly and wants to please, which makes her a fun and rewarding partner. Fern gets curious when she spots squirrels, so her comfort with cats is unknown. She truly shines during spa time. She allows paw wiping, ear cleaning, and even tooth brushing without a fuss. She is happy to play for hours, but she also enjoys curling up in your lap to watch football. Fern is ready for her forever family. She brings energy, affection, and a loyal heart to the people lucky enough to welcome her home.

Duma is an affectionate, friendly 11-year-old neutered Ridgeback/Hound mix (65 lbs.) looking for an adult-only home. He loves people, enjoys walks, is house-trained, walks well on leash, and knows many commands. He’s healthy aside from arthritis, which is managed with gabapentin and supplements, and is current on all vaccinations. Duma would do best as the only pet in a home without children. Over the past year, he bit our young child twice after being unexpectedly approached from behind—once while lying down and once when hugged around his hindquarters while standing. Because of these incidents, we can no longer safely keep him in our home. Despite this, Duma is a loving, loyal companion who thrives on attention and enjoys being with his people. We know the right adult home will give him the chance to enjoy his senior years surrounded by love, comfort, and plenty of walks.

Hi! My name is Lil Man, and I’m 1 half of the inseparable duo full of love and laughter. We're young, smart, and have tons of energy to play and explore. We might be a bit shy at first, but give us a moment, and we'll be your cuddly companions. We love being goofy and making our friends laugh with our funny antics. We're also very gentle and friendly, perfect pals for any family. We're looking for a forever home where we can share all our love. Adopt us for endless fun and friendship! Sadly, Lil Man and Rudy were abandoned in a small rural county in Mississippi. The mother and her three pups were homeless and were living in the woods when a local police officer contacted the rescue for help. The police brought the two males, Lil Man and Rudy, and their sister, Scarlet to the rescue. Scarlet went to a rescue in Maine leaving Lil Man and Rudy behind waiting. These 2 boys are so bonded that we wish they could go together. They absolutely adore each other. they were raised inside before becoming homeless, so they are house trained. We are looking for the perfect home for these two boys. They are the sweetest, most lovable dogs that anyone could ever want. They just need a loving home and a pet owner that is willing to love him. This animal is being fostered in the South but transport to a location near you is included in your adoption fee. We use Rescue Riders Pet Transport, (www.rescueridersllc.net), the most animal-friendly transport on the road.

I’m an 8-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback/Boxer mix with a big heart and an even bigger love for my people. My life was turned upside down when my old family left me at a high-intake shelter, but my foster mom helped me heal, feel safe again, and remember what it’s like to be loved. Now I’m ready to find a forever family who won’t ever give up on me. I’m a polite girl with great house manners — I only chew on my toys (never shoes!), and I absolutely love squeaky toys and cozy donut beds. I’m also a champion sleeper and perfectly happy to snooze in with you on quiet mornings. Walks are one of my favorite things! Long, sniffy walks make me so happy, and I’m a wonderful adventure buddy. Sometimes I get a little reactive when I see other dogs on leash, but I’m learning every day. With some patience and positive training, I might even enjoy living with another dog after slow introductions. I adore people and I can’t wait to become someone’s loyal best friend.
