Story
Say Hello to Hershey. Hershey came to us from her previous owner they were moving and could not take her with them. Here's some information we have on Hershey:Hershey entered care in July 2024. While entering care, Hershey displayed handling/restraint sensitivity. Hershey's previous owner shared that she has a habit of jumping, and was becoming reactive with people, and would "bark or lunge" when out walking at night. While in care, Hershey has displayed handling sensitivities with leashing and petting, and has also developed positive social relationships with staff.Cats:No history while in care. Hershey's previous owner shared that she "takes time to adjust" [to cats and other small animals]. Dogs:No history while in care. Hershey's previous owner shared that she is "very playful" around other dogs.Kids:Hershey lived with a two and four year old and was described as "good with kids" and "does not know her size and will sometimes jump on them and knock them over by accident". Due to her size and fearful behaviors, Hershey is required to be adopted into a home without children under the age of 10. All children in household should be able to comprehend and adhere to consent petting (pat, pet, pause) and be aware when Hershey may need breaks from handling and petting. Adults in household should expect to provide active supervision while children are with Hershey.Behavior consult:Virtual consultation for fearful behavior required. If you would like to meet Hershey come to the Escondido Campus. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 85 Age: 2yrs 3mths 3wks

Story
Rocky is a Rottweiler Mix, his estimated date of birth is 2/7/12 and he weighs 75 lbs. He is up to date on all of his shots and he is fixed. Rocky is OK with people but is not good with kids, cats, or small dogs. Rocky has a habit of jumping and he has a tendency to try to escape so he would need a home that was very secure. Rocky has food aggression and is very possessive of toys and people. He can sometimes have an over protective drive to certain people.  Rocky can be very vocal and would require a home with a lot of space as Rocky prefers to roam and would become destructive if restricted in a small space. Rocky is not good with new people or places and can be aggressive to other male dogs. He requires regular grooming and requires a special diet. Rocky is afraid of water and can become agitated by running water or large areas of water. He has a habit of dumping out his water dish. Rocky is not good on a leash despite repeated training and still has issues with house training and marking. We do not have a central location to see our dogs.  Meeting any dog is by appointment ONLY currently. Appointments can be set up to meet any dog in San Diego. Currently we are unable to do any out-of-state adoptions. If you are interested in a particular dog please FILL OUT an Adoption Application at our website @ http://bajadogrescue.org/ready-to-adopt/adopt and we can schedule you for an appointment to meet with a particular dog if it is available. We do require an application if you are interested in adoption.  If you are interested in potentially adopting please fill out an application at http://bajadogrescue.org/ready-to-adopt/adopt. Story
Oliver is a young, energetic, Rottie boy that is sweet and sensitive and great with people. He will need someone who is willing to put time into training but Oliver is receptive and willing, and with that, he will be an amazing canine companion. Oliver is good with other large dogs, we have not had him with small dogs or cats. He will chase livestock so he needs to be a city boy. If he's to be outside unsupervised, his home must have a six foot fence.
