Story
How Leroy arrived: Leroy was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on February 22nd. Why Leroy is the one for you:Leroy is a gentle, sensitive pup who just needs a little time and patience to let his true personality shine. He can be shy at first, but with a calm environment and kind encouragement, Leroy slowly builds confidence and begins to show his sweet and loyal nature. He forms strong bonds with the people he trusts and enjoys having a safe space where he can relax and feel secure. Leroy would do best in a home with children over 6 who can understand his need to go at his own pace. With love, patience, and positive support, Leroy will blossom into a devoted companion and a very special member of the family. At SDHS:Leroy has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Leroy is now ready for their new home! Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 90.8 Age: 3yrs 0mths 2wks

Story
When Sammy’s devoted mom could no longer care for him due to her courageous battle with cancer, she made the heartbreaking decision to place her beloved boy in our care. Now, this gentle soul is looking for a new family to love him just as deeply. Sammy is 11 years young, 70 pounds of pure sweetness, and truly the total package. He’s calm, loving, and very well-behaved. Sammy loves affection. Simply hold out your hand, and he’ll come trotting over from wherever he’s resting, ready for pets. If you stop too soon, he’ll gently burrow his head into you, asking for just a few more scritches. He also has a playful side—tug-of-war is one of his favorite games! On walks, he shows off the cutest little ear bounce. He’s well-behaved on leash and has zero reaction to passing dogs or people, yet happily greets friendly pups with soft tail wags and polite curiosity. He's a wonderful walking companion! Sammy is currently on a two-week Frosted Fling. His foster mom shares: "We've had Sammy for almost a week, and he's been perfect since the minute he jumped in the car - which he did with no problem! Here's what we've learned about Sammy: - He loves everyone - kids and dogs of all sizes included. - He loves stuffed animals and a good game of tug of war. - He attaches very quickly and wants to be around his people all the time - Totally potty trained - no accidents at all! - Walks perfectly on a loose leash. - No problem with stairs. - We've left him for short periods of time so far and he's been totally fine with the run of the house. When we've checked cameras he's just been sleeping. - He's the most non-reactive dog ever; not bothered by other dogs, the doorbell, the mailman, or workers that go in and out all day long - even when the our dogs are losing their minds! - He catches on to routines quickly, sleeps through the night, eats great, takes treats so gently. Sammy lets my 4-year-old granddaughter walk him around the yard on a leash, hug him, and tuck him in at night. You name it - he's ok with it. Sammy just wants to be with you. All this to say that Sammy really is the perfect dog!" Sammy is ready to give his love and devotion to a forever family. Could it be you? To meet Sammy, please email: placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. The tale of Robby, a 10-year-old Boxer Mix, is a heart-wrenching illustration of how a dog can be considered homeless despite technically having an owner. For a decade, Robby endured a life of neglect, living in a dilapidated dog house barely fit for a rat, positioned just outside the home of his owner. Stripped of the basic necessities of care and nourishment, he had no choice but to resort to scavenging for food, begging passersby for scraps and water, all while defending himself from the other street dogs that roamed freely. This life of hardship took its toll on his health, leaving him riddled with infections and suffering from painful rotten and broken teeth due to his desperate attempts to eat whatever he could find. Fortunately, a glimmer of hope arose when concerned individuals turned to me for assistance. I understood that Robby’s situation was a call for compassion that could not be ignored. Upon his rescue, it became clear just how much love and care Robby had been deprived of over the years. With proper veterinary care and rehabilitation, this gentle soul began to regain his health, blossoming into a vibrant and affectionate companion. Robby’s journey is of survival and resilience!! When kindness finally entered his life after years of starvation and loneliness his soul came to life. However, the scars of his past linger on. Although Robby is now a sweet dog who adores human company, the years of ill treatment have left him with food and treat aggression. These behaviors are not indicative of his character but rather a reflection of his survival instincts honed in an unforgiving environment. We continue to help Robby by overcoming his feeling of being food deprived with training and he's doing so much better. We are committed to Robby!!! It’s believed that the best path for Robby is to live as an only dog, allowing him to bask in the one thing he has longed for throughout his tumultuous life—human kindness and love. Robby's story is not just a reminder of the plight of many animals; it serves as a call to action for compassion and understanding, driving us to provide every creature the loving home they deserve. I added Robby’s before pictures on his post so you can see what his life was like and to show how resilient a beautiful soul could be. Robby deserves to live the rest of his life in peace, comfort and with a lot of love which he thrives on. If you live in San Diego County, have a home with a secured yard and would love a wonderful companion dog then please complete our adoption application at tlck9rescue.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 9, 2026, 1:51 pm
