When Sammy’s devoted mom could no longer care for him due to her courageous battle with cancer, she made the heartbreaking decision to place her beloved boy in our care. Now, this gentle soul is looking for a new family to love him just as deeply. Sammy is 11 years young, 70 pounds of pure sweetness, and truly the total package. He’s calm, loving, and very well-mannered - the kind of dog who fits seamlessly into your life. He’s completely potty trained and settles easily at home. Sammy loves affection. Simply hold out your hand, and he’ll come trotting over from wherever he’s resting, ready for pets. If you stop too soon, he’ll gently burrow his head into you, asking for just a few more scritches. He also has a playful side—tug-of-war is one of his favorite games! On walks, he shows off the cutest little ear bounce. He’s well-behaved on leash and has zero reaction to passing dogs or people, yet happily greets friendly pups with soft tail wags and polite curiosity. He's a wonderful walking companion. After becoming a Frosted Face, Sammy went on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we could learn more about him in a home environment, and because he was such a good houseguest, it turned into a 3-month Foster home! Sammy's Foster Mom shares: "Sammy is very friendly and likes everyone he meets, kids included. He loves being petted. We take Sammy on long walks around the neighborhood and on a hike on the weekends. He has good energy for an 11-year-old and can do 2-3 mile hikes. We've also taken him on to the beach, and he did great! Sammy is doesn't exhibit any separation anxiety when we leave the house and just sleeps. Sammy is very well-behaved and does not bother or destroy things around the house. Sammy enjoys laying on the couch to take naps or to cuddle with us as we watch tv. During Sammy's time with us, he's been around small and large dogs. He is good with them all. Sammy is a very good boy. He has learned the “sit” command. Teaching an old dog a new trick is no issue with a smart boy like Sammy!" Sammy is ready to give his love and devotion to a forever family. Could it be you?
