Moka is such a loving and playful girl. She is an amazing companion with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She is affectionate, silly, energetic, and loves spending time with her people. She enjoys playing and is happy to share toys, but she can become stressed or overwhelmed in higher-intensity situations when another dog is around. Because of this, she would thrive as the only dog in the home, where she can relax and feel confident without the pressure of another dog competing for attention or resources. A home with space to run, play, and explore would be ideal for her. She is also working on resource guarding and leash manners and would benefit from continued positive-reinforcement training. Moka is a beautiful dog inside and out. Unfortunately we have another dog that she becomes aggressive towards due to her resource guarding. With her humans she is so loving and sweet. She is also crate trained and potty trained. We want more than anything to find her a good home.

Mrs. Peacock entered the Humane Society of Imperial County in late July as a stray, and sadly, no one reclaimed her. We welcomed her as a Frosted Face on August 28th. At an estimated 16 years old and 33 pounds, Mrs. Peacock is a sweet, friendly senior girl who gets along well with other dogs. We’ve learned a lot more about her personality after she spent time in two foster homes, and both families had nothing but wonderful things to say about her! Here’s the latest rave review: "Mrs. Peacock is an all-around sweetheart and a total gem. She’s the perfect balance of mellow with periods of being playful and energetic and eager-to-please but not needy. She settled right in and was such a good girl the whole time. Gentle, house-trained, and a joy to have around. Mrs. Peacock loves being with people. Naps, rubs, whatever – she just wants to be around her people whatever is going on. When you want to play, she loves to go crazy in the yard playing with her squeaky toys, but then she is perfectly content to go back inside and relax when playtime is over. We both work from home, and she was happy just being on her bed in the room with us while we worked. Mrs. Peacock is good to be in her crate when you need to leave, but she does fine without the crate, too. We left her out of the crate, and she was on her bed when we came home – no destruction or accidents. She’s mindful and respectful of boundaries such as baby gates. She did whine a bit if we left her and went to areas of the house she could not be in, but she always calmed down. Mrs. Peacock has excellent manners. She knows SIT, STAY, COME, and LIE DOWN. She is both food and praise motivated. She’s a very easy and good walking companion. She’s occasionally a bit anxious when loud and fast cars go by on the walk, but this is likely from her time as a stray and will ease when she’s settled into her forever home. She didn’t react when other dogs went by but does seem to be interested in chasing small critters, so she may be best with a family without cats. (FFF can cat test on-site!) We always let Mrs. Peacock out just before going to bed, and she slept through the night. She does wake you up in the morning and just gets up whenever you do. She also was respectful of not sleeping in our bed, even though it’s clear she would LOVE to snuggle in the bed with her people Mrs. Peacock is ready to be someone’s devoted companion again! She is spayed, healthy, current on all vaccinations, crate trained, and potty trained. Mocha is affectionate, silly, energetic, and loves spending time with her people. She enjoys playing, exploring, and sharing her toys. Rocky is a Rottweiler Mix, his estimated date of birth is 2/7/12 and he weighs 75 lbs. He is up to date on all of his shots and he is fixed. Rocky is OK with people but is not good with kids, cats, or small dogs. Rocky has a habit of jumping and he has a tendency to try to escape so he would need a home that was very secure. Rocky has food aggression and is very possessive of toys and people. He can sometimes have an over protective drive to certain people. Rocky can be very vocal and would require a home with a lot of space as Rocky prefers to roam and would become destructive if restricted in a small space. Rocky is not good with new people or places and can be aggressive to other male dogs. He requires regular grooming and requires a special diet. Rocky is afraid of water and can become agitated by running water or large areas of water. He has a habit of dumping out his water dish. Rocky is not good on a leash despite repeated training and still has issues with house training and marking.We do not have a central location to see our dogs. Meeting any dog is by appointment ONLY currently. Appointments can be set up to meet any dog in San Diego. Currently we are unable to do any out-of-state adoptions.
