Story
Are you looking at my ears? WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS ABOUT ME: Hello! My name is Shiva, and I'm happy to be here and tell you a bit about me. I was brought into another welfare organization in Washington, DC, in July 2023 by nice animal control officers after I was found wandering the streets. I was underweight and had a skin condition, but the vets there nursed me back to health. I'm now a healthy 45 pounds, very energetic, and getting used to trusting humans again. I have been in foster and have grown a lot in my time out of the shelter. I am still quite shy at first, but after getting to know people, I really open up and show my very loving, playful and goofy personality. While I am an adult lady, I have a lot of energy, am silly and playful at times, and LOVE the outdoors. I light up on walks, especially in the park, and love running around and being playful with my foster mom. If you have a nice yard that I can run and play in, I would love that! I also love nice long walks where you can be patient with me as I sniff (a lot). Because of my past, I am scared by sudden, loud noises, so I would really prefer a quiet home, perhaps outside the city so there are fewer sirens and other loud noises. I may be ok with other dogs, but my foster mom thinks I might prefer to be queen of my own castle. I currently live with two adult male cats. My energy and playfulness is not always well-received by them, but I don't show any aggression towards them, just playfulness. A home with cats may work for me, but my new family would have to be willing to go slow with introductions. I am a true love, who is looking for a soft place to land after a rough go of it. Once you earn my trust, I will be very loving and loyal. I'd love to be with a forever family that loves me for all I am and treats me like a princess. ATTRIBUTES: Shiva has lived in foster with cats and done well. -------------- Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained. Story
Foster (or better yet Adopter) wanted! Is your life missing a firecracker disguised in a velvet coat? Then look no further than Cupcake! This year-old, 35lb mutt is all short stature and big personality. * She warms up to humans faster than a toaster on "high," but new canine companions require a couple of minutes of her sniffing and sizing them up before becoming best buds. She’s fostered with several dogs of all sizes and does well with all of them. Hans’t been tested with cats. * Playful and will go for as long as you’re willing to engage with her. Fetch, tug, chase - Cupcake's down for it all! She adjusts her playstyle to her partner, and respects boundaries like a champ * She’s a crate superstar - clean, quiet (except for the occasional morning opera when she's fashionably late for breakfast). Just remember, this diva doesn't appreciate random pups strolling by her boudoir. * Dream Home: Active family or a family with an active/playful pup. Cupcake's your gal! Bonus points for living within a 60-mile radius of Silver Spring, MD (although amazing matches in the NY, NJ, PA, and WV area won't be ignored). Heads up: Cupcake is likely a mini Pei/Pit mix, which can be restricted in some apartments. Ready to meet your pint-sized partner in crime? Click the link below to apply (and don't forget to read the first page - Cupcake insists on it!): https://bit.ly/4d7XoKd P.S. Cupcake is definitely a keeper, so don't wait!

ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/13688Hi, my name is Mary Cassatt, and I'm thought to be a Shar-Pei mix (with something else adorable). I'm between 1-2 years old and weigh 50 lbs. I am a sweet girl who greets my foster mom with the biggest body wiggle every time I see her. With my extremely short coat, I am also low shedding.I'm doing great with the other dogs here and I'm super submissive. I walk well on a leash and I'm housetrained in my kennel. I recently attended an adoption event and was polite greeting other dogs and friendly towards people there and did great in the car.See me in action here:Loving on foster dadAbout Me:Breed: Shar-Pei mixAge: 1 year oldWeight: 47 lbsCoat: Extremely short and low sheddingPersonality: Very sweet and gentle, a little tentative in new situations, but loves hard when she feels comfortableSocial Skills:-Great with other dogs-Super submissive-Loves to greet people with enthusiasmFun Fact:Just like my namesake, Mary Cassatt, the renowned artist known for her sensitive portrayals of women and children, I have a gentle and nurturing spirit. Cassatt's work was often characterized by a delicate touch and warm affection, similar to how I interact with those around me. Though I might be a little tentative in new situations, once I feel comfortable, I love deeply and form strong bonds with my human companions. If you're looking for a sweet, gentle, and loving companion, I might just be the perfect match for you. I can’t wait to find my forever home and share all the love I have to give!

Story
Rebel is a 6-year-old male Shar-Pei/English Bulldog mix with a heart full of love. He's looking for a new forever home in Hagerstown, Maryland, following the passing of his beloved owner. Rebel is a loyal and affectionate companion who would thrive in a calm and understanding environment. Key Information: Age: 6 years old Breed: Shar-Pei/English Bulldog mix Neutered: Not neutered Compatibility: Rebel is best suited for a home without small kids or male dogs, as he had a rough experience with young children in his previous home. Cat Alert: Rebel may chase cats if he spots them in the yard, so a cat-free environment would be ideal. Health: Up to date on shots and house trained. Rebel's life has seen some recent changes, with the loss of his owner and his current caregiver preparing for hip and knee surgeries. This sweet boy is in need of a loving family to provide the stability and care he deserves. If you're interested in opening your heart and home to Rebel, please reach out to Danny at 240-675-9090. Your kindness could make all the difference in Rebel's world. Let's find this loyal companion the safe and loving forever home he deserves. ***Disclaimer*** Unfortunately, there are not enough rooms at the inn to admit every dog that needs a furever home. Good with: Dogs, kids Not tested with: Cats House trained: Yes Energy level: Medium Noise level: Some, when someone is at the door Hi, I'm Ripley! I was once a victim of neglect, but now I'm looking for a loving home where I can blossom. I'm a sweet, gentle girl who needs a confident doggy friend and a kind, patient human to help me come out of my shell and show me how wonderful life can be. I may be a little scared and shy at first, but I promise I'm worth the effort to get to know. When I feel safe and confident, I love freely, craving head scratches, playing with stuffed toys, and having zoomies in the backyard. I'm curious about neighborhood cats but don't have a strong prey drive. I'm good at taking cues from other dogs, but I'm still learning human cues like shaking paws. My favorite thing about myself is how gentle and loving I ama total sweetheart! I have a medium energy level, and I'm both gentle and friendly. I can be playful, fearful, and shy. I enjoy short walks and zoomies, but I'm terrified of fireworks and car rides. Despite this, I love going on walks and being with my favorite humans. I'm still working on my training and don't know basic commands yet, but I'm housetrained and somewhat crate trained. On walks, I'm well-mannered, get along with other dogs, and handle distractions like bikes and skateboards pretty well. I bark when someone is at the door, and I need a quiet environment because I get nervous around new people. I need time to come out of my shell, but once I trust someone, I like them very much. I get along with all kids and dogs and am interested in cats, though I haven't had close contact with them. My daily routine includes morning and evening walks, and I have access to a yard, but I prefer staying indoors with the air conditioning when it's hot. I eat Fromm adult food, 1.5 cups in the morning and evening. I don't shed much and don't need grooming. I'd do well in an apartment, would be great for a first-time dog owner, and would love someone who works from home or is home often. I can't wait to find my forever home and share all my love! My foster guardian says: Ripley is gentle and loving - total sweetheart. Likes: Short walks, zoomies Dislikes: Fireworks, riding in the car My ideal home: Id prefer to have an owner who is home often, but Id be good in an apartment and for a first time dog owner. Story
Good with: Dogs Not tested with: Cats, kids House trained: Yes Energy level: Medium Noise level: Some Hey there I'm Gabby the bubbly mixed-breed pup with a hop in my step and a heart of gold! With my soft speckled white and tan fur and soulful yellow/brown eyes I'm quite the charmer. Despite a shoulder injury in my past I've mastered a unique hop-like gait that sets me apart. When it comes to manners I've got them down pat - no accidents in the house and I prefer to savor my meals rather than scarf them down. Now let's talk about my absolute favorite thing: morning walks! There's nothing that gets me more excited than exploring the world outside. Walks dont have to be limited in time or distance as far as my foster mom can tell: I have the same energy and enthusiasm as any other dog. I'm friendly with other dogs but I can be a bit standoffish. I prefer smaller playgroups and may get overwhelmed in crowded dog parks. Despite my injury I'm quite the active pup! I love playing with toys and you might catch me zooming around the yard with one in my mouth. I particularly love prey toys and bully sticks! I also love a good game of fetch and will always bring the toy/ball back to you. I might even surprise you with how high I can jump! I can hop up and ride in the car just fine and love going on adventures. I even recently mastered going up and down a full flight of stairs! When it comes to affection I'm all in! I absolutely adore cuddles and scratches: but I never beg for them just gladly accept them. I'll also keep you company while you work from home while I lounge on the couch. Separation anxiety? Well I might whine a bit when you leave in the crate but with a distraction like a tasty treat I'll be just fine and quiet down quickly. Oh and there's one thing I'm not too fond of: bikes. They make me bark and lunge but cars and trucks? No problem at all! I'm great at "sit" "come" and "wait", but could use some training on walking on a leash. I am overly interested in squirrels and other small animals and my gate makes it harder for me to regulate my speed so as a result I pull a little bit, but with some time and training I can be a leash walking pro! So if you're looking for a well-mannered affectionate companion who's always up for an adventure look no further than yours truly Gabby. I can't wait to hop into your heart and home! My foster guardian says: Gabby is the absolute sweetest pup and is the perfect mix of active outside but calm and affectionate inside. Despite the injury her bunny-like gate makes her the star of the show on walks and at the dog park: people think its absolutely adorable and Id have to agree. If youre looking for a sweet little mix breed look no further than Gabby! Likes: Toys, bones, scratches, sunbathing, morning walks, lounging on the couch Dislikes: Bikes, lots of dogs at once My ideal home: I am pretty flexible and would be happy in a variety of homes! Please visit our website www.ruraldogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing dog and to see other dogs available for adoption!
