If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail any questions to: Homeward Trails Adoption Center adoptioncenter@homewardtrails.org PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ LOCATION: Adoption Center ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Adoption Center ADOPTION FEE: Zoey is being sponsored by a generous donor which means she is FREE! Her adoption fee has been waived in hopes she can get adopted right away! **Ask me about our many adoption benefits that include free exams, pet insurance, training and other discounts! ESTIMATED WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 60 lbs, a healthy weight would be around 50 lbs KNOWN WITH DOGS: Zoey would prefer to be the only pup in your home so she can get all your love and attention. Once she has that, she doesn't see any reason to hang out with other dogs. KNOWN WITH CATS: Zoey had one cat test and did very well, the cat hissed and swatted at her and she backed away KNOWN WITH KIDS: We do not know how Zoey is with kids, though she would prefer to live with older children so they don't get their toys mixed up with hers! KNOWN CUES: Zoey is getting really good at Drop It with her toys, to better assist with games of fetch - which she loves! KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING &/OR CRATING: She is fully house-trained! KNOWN LIKES: The QUEEN of butt scratches, snuggling, toys, and napping. She enjoys fine dining of cooked chicken and wet food. She will walk with you until the road ends, and then ask if you can keep going in the opposite direction. KNOWN DISLIKES: Socks, she will eat them. She had to have gastric obstruction surgery, so keep laundry away from her. Having her paws handled. Sharing things with other dogs. Having her stuff taken away without proper warning. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Zoey – Queen of Quirks, Collector of Hearts, Absolute Icon 👑 There are dogs… and then there’s Zoey. An 8-year-old Shar Pei mix with dramatic rolls, a flair for the fabulous, and the energy of a retired lounge singer who still insists on being called “Miss Zoey.” She didn’t choose the princess life — it chose her. Zoey lived a pampered, adoring life until her beloved owner passed away, and she suddenly found herself in the shelter. Heartbroken and confused, Zoey was understandably unsure at first. But after some time (and a generous supply of booty scratches), she emerged from her royal chambers ready for the extravagance she deserves! Let’s break down this living legend: ✨ Spayed & vaccinated – Because royalty comes fully vetted. ✨ Potty trained – Obviously. Zoe would never. ✨ Walks? Yes, but don’t expect cardio. ✨ Booty scratches? Mandatory. They’re written into her imaginary prenup. ✨ Table scraps? Must be delivered by hand. No notes. ✨ Loves older people? Obsessed. She thrives in the warm energy of people who understand that life’s better at a slower pace. ✨ Rescue favorite? Has her own fan club. Zoey is full of quirks. She has opinions. She likes her snacks a certain way. She will absolutely assist with your emails by lying on your laptop. She is equal parts snuggle bug, sass machine, and nap expert. She’s not here for drama — she is the drama, but in a deeply lovable, “you’re never lonely again” kind of way. She wants all of your attention, and may not be interested in sharing it with other dogs! Her ideal home? Peaceful, loving, chicken-forward. She’d thrive with someone who enjoys the golden-hour slowness of life, a few leisurely walks a day, and possibly sharing their sandwich (willingly or not). Even at her age, Zoey loves toys, and she loves people who let her play with her toys in her space, and offer appropriate trades when Toy Time is done. Zoey has known deep love — and she’s ready to give it again. If you’re looking for a loyal, hilarious, slightly bougie best friend who’s already perfected the art of living her best life… Zoey is waiting. Story
Libra is a 6-year-old Shar Pei mix with a calm, friendly nature and a tail that never seems to stop wagging -- earning her the nickname “Wiggles.” She recently weaned her two puppies and is now ready to focus on being someone’s beloved companion. It’s clear Libra had a difficult start in life; missing fur around her neck suggests she may have once been chained. Despite that, she remains incredibly happy, social, and resilient, greeting new people with an easygoing confidence and genuine affection. If you're looking for the perfect couch companion, work buddy and sidekick, she's your girl! Everyone that meets her ABSOLUTELY adores her! Libra does wonderfully in her foster home, where she lives peacefully with four cats and two dogs. She would enjoy having a laid-back canine companion who isn’t overly pushy, though she does like to play and enjoys relaxed walks around the neighborhood. A fenced backyard would be a dream for her—somewhere she can explore, lounge, and soak up the sun. She is potty trained, leash trained, and comfortable in a crate when needed and the best car companion. Libra is Heartworm posititve and currently undergoing treatment, which is fully covered by WTAR. She will need daily medication and a period of rest, but she’s an easy patient who takes her pills with peanut butter and is content to take things slow. Libra is simply a kind, adaptable dog who fits easily into a home and brings steady companionship wherever she goes. She’s ready for a second chance and a family to call her own. Adoption Day: January 24th at PetSmart Tysons Corner from 10:00–11:00 AM, an approved adopter must be present to adopt. Pets may be adopted prior to this date with an approved adopter. Some pups may stick around until 11:00 AM for the public event—check our Facebook page closer to the date to see if this pup will be attending the extra fun! ##2581332##

Current Location: Gettysburg, PA Hello! My name is Olive! Olive is a calm, laid back sweetheart who has truly mastered the art of relaxation. She is gentle, quiet, and content to enjoy the simple things. A soft dog bed, a warm spot in front of the wood stove, and a peaceful home are her idea of perfection. She walks beautifully on a leash and prefers short, easy outings followed by long stretches of lounging. Olive is happy spending time in her kennel or curled up in her bed, watching the world go by. She does not need much exercise and would thrive in a quiet, low key household. Olive has been fostered with kids and other dogs and has been a lovely, steady companion to all. She is sweet with children, polite with dogs, and relaxed when meeting new people. At ten years old, this Shar Pei girl brings all the charm of her blonde folds and wrinkles, along with a wonderfully expressive face full of character. Olive is ready for a calm life of comfort and companionship. She would be a perfect match for someone looking for a peaceful, loving presence to share their home and their heart. This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. The disease was treated while in foster care. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable. Story
Current Location: Hanover, PA Hello! My name is Skull Skull is a sweet guy, gentle by nature, but he doesn't know what a leash is or why someone would want to hold one. He is doing okay, at least on the outside. Inside, though, he has no idea what it means to be a pet, to be someone’s family. That kind of life is still a mystery to him, and he has so much to learn. He figured out the stairs quickly, as if solving small problems was something he’d always had to do on his own. He needs gentle training, yes—but more than that, he needs patience, love, and care he had never been given. His body is thin, his muscles untested, his curiosity almost aching as he noses into everything, trying to understand a world that is new. With all the love he never had, he still has so much love left to give. He would make a wonderful family member—if only someone would finally teach him what family means.
