Story
Male, 2-3 yrs old, 64 lbs Personality: goofy/funny, eager-to-please, adaptable, affectionate, outgoing, good running partner, energetic, smart, playful, snuggler, rambunctious, adventurous, and brave. Dusty is a big cuddle bug who loves people and is extremely curious about new places, people, and things. An overgrown lap dog, Dusty will also happily sit between your legs as you give him pets. Dusty loves to play tug of war or chase his favorite toys. He'll play fetch for as long as you are willing to throw! He has lived comfortably in a home with large and small dogs and tested well with cats at the shelter. An eager to please dog who has quickly adjusted to city life and apartment living, Dusty is also a fast learner. (It helps when you have his favorite treats on you - hot dogs and string cheese!) He already knows the words "sit, "leave, and "paw and is working on "1, 2, 3 for walks. His foster is working on crate training to make sure Dusty feels like the crate is a safe space. Dusty is energetic and is looking for someone to take him on long walks. He excels in eating his meals from enrichment puzzles, which help to calm his active brain! Once he's had his exercise and playtime, he happily curls up on the couch for a snooze. Because Dusty still thinks he's a puppy and is learning that jumping on new friends isn't the way to go, he would do best in a home without very young children. If Dusty sounds like the one for you, apply today! __________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Story
Male, 1 year old, ~55 lbs Personality: affectionate, adaptable, eager-to-please, loyal, energetic, snuggler, outgoing, goofy/funny, adventurous, and playful. Hi everyone! I am Munchie, your soon to be best buddy, ready to add some tail-wagging fun to your life! I am sure that we can be partners for some paw-fect adventures. I don't believe it's possible to be too large to be a lap dog. My heart is big, and I love giving cuddles to humans large and small. Plus I am told I have the softest fur on earth. There's no need to worry about being lonely when I'm around! Whether you're human or canine, adult or child, I'll be your friend if you'll let me. I am a real charmer with a zest for playing, particularly tug-of-war with dogs and "wrestling" with humans. On top of that, I'm well on the way to being house trained, and I do well in my crate. I'm a champ in the car, and I also know the words "sit", "out", and "no". While I self identify as a miniature Saint Bernard, behavioral analysis indicates a fair amount of muppet in my ancestral mix. Some say I am the consummate pesky little brother, looking to see what everyone else is doing and hoping I can come along. (I'm not above dramatic flops and facial expressions to make sure everyone understands me.) All that said, I am also good at playing with toys on my own. So, what do you say? Let's make some memories and fetch some fun together. I am looking forward to meeting you, so apply today! If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Twix

Boxer Mixed Breed (Medium)

Male, 5 yrs 3 mos
Washington, DC
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Good with dogs, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
male, 5 years, 49.5 lbs Personality: Energetic, Playful, Snuggly, and Affectionate. Twix is here to double the fun and sweetness in your life! This affectionate pupper loves to be close to his people, following you from room to room, or snuggling up to you on the couch, Twix is excited to spend precious time together. His favorite pastime is playing tug, and he never goes anywhere without his trusty emotional support marrow bone. Twix is a quick learner and already knows hand signals and words for "sit" and "down." He's just a whisker away from mastering "paw" and is eager for more detailed training to refine his skills. Twix's youthful energy makes him seem much younger than his five years. He gets extra happy around children, always wagging his tail and eager to join in the fun. While he can get a bit barky on walks, especially at some people and dogs, this enthusiastic fellow just needs a bit of patience to curb his excitement. He's also very curious about cats, squirrels, and birds, often pawing playfully at his foster's cat. However, his playfulness can sometimes be a bit much for feline friends, so a home without cats or with a very confident cat might be best. Though Twix is gaining the confidence to be left home alone, he's making great strides in house training, with no accidents in the past week. He happily goes into his crate for meals and water, though he prefers not to stay in there for long. With his boundless energy, a playmate or frequent play sessions would be ideal. If you're looking for a devoted companion who will keep you smiling, Twix is your match! Apply today to meet him. If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Story
Female, 1.5 years old, 50 lbs Personality: quiet, independent, timid/fearful, affectionate, snuggler, easygoing, and adaptable. If there were awards for goodest girl around, Ari would definitely win the prize! This snuggly girl is the absolute sweetest and most easy going pup. She goes with the flow, whether that means trotting at your side on a long walk or hike or curling up by your feet for a snooze while you work. Ari's current favorite things are bones, bouncy balls, and afternoon naps, but she also loves food of all kinds and giving big hugs. This smart girl is doing great with housetraining and does well in her crate overnight or in shorter stints throughout the day. Ari is also doing well with learning words like "sit, "stay, and "no. Ari walks well on a leash and is generally pretty confident and independent, though she's not the biggest fan of loud noises (who can blame her?).
