Story
Meet Belle - Belle is about 4 months old and weighs about 15 lbs. We think Belle looks like a Boxer/Shepherd mix (Just a Guess). Belle is a sweet and playful puppy who loves to play with the resident dog in her foster home. Belle loves snuggling with her foster family too. Belle is working on her house and crate training and is doing an excellent job! Baby puppies will require an adopter who is at home a good portion of the day to continue training - no exceptions! This puppy is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, spayed and microchipped. The Adoption Fee for this puppy $400.00. ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs and/or all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So, adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many! ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

Story
Meet Sophie - This beautiful pup is about 5 months old and 30 lbs. We think she looks like a Boxer/Shepherd/Terrier mix (Just a Guess). Sophie is such a sweet and loving puppy. She loves other dogs and enjoys playing with her doggie toys and getting lots of attention from her foster family. Sophie is working on her house and crate training and is doing an excellent job! Young puppies will require an adopter who is at home a good portion of the day to continue training - no exceptions! This puppy is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped and will need to be spayed at the age of 6 months. The Adoption Fee for this puppy $400.00. ***Please note, this pup's immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age and therefore, s/he is not suited for Apartment/Condo living or Town homes without a private fenced yard and will not be able to go to public places where s/he could possibly be exposed to the germs of unvaccinated dogs, such as PetSmart/PetCo and dog parks until s/he is 16 weeks old*** ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** The adoption fee for this dog is $400, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. This fee DOES NOT INCLUDE spay/neuter if the pup is not already spayed/neutered. If the animal you are adopting is not already spayed/neutered, you will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. A $100.00 fee will be returned to the adopter once the animal has been sterilized. We will provide information on this process during the approval process. ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs and/or all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. Story
Meet Bennett! Bennett is about 1-2 years old and weighs 45 lbs. We think he looks like a Boxer/Hound Mix (just a guess). Bennett is a total sweetheart! He loves to cuddle and is such an easy going boy. Bennett is great with the small dog and cat in his foster home. Although Bennett is not fostered with children, we feel he would do well with children based on his easy going personality. Bennett would do best in a home where someone is around a good portion of the day as this is what he has in his foster home. Bennett is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and microchipped. ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from Canine and Kitties Rescue*** The adoption fee for this dog is $375.00, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Story
We named her Promise because we had no more room on the transport to bring her and we told her that we would come back for her. We kept our word - and we are so glad we did. She had puppies at some point before she was dumped at the poor rural shelter, but she did not come with any of her puppies. This alone must have been awful for her to be separated from her pups. She was very shut down when we got her but now that she is in a foster home she is coming out of her shell and wants to play with the fosters other dogs. And she plays like a boxer which is so cute! Her foster mom says of Promise that 'she is super cute and friendly and just wants to be around me and my son.' She has very good house manners, ,does not chew, is great in a crate and is house broken. We listed older children because she seems scared of small children. We have told Promise that life will be very different from this point on she will have a home with someone who will love her and be kind to her. This is another promise we have made to this sweet dog. If you are interested in Promise, and helping us keep our promises to her, please let us know. Thank you for your interest in Promise! Please visit www.hart90.org/petdetail.aspx?ID=16323 to get the most up-to-date and accurate information on this pet, to email the contact person listed for more information and how to meet Promise, or to submit an online application. Story
Kris is a volunteer favorite and even has his own HART fan club! If you have a rubber ball and will play fetch with him, he will be your BFF. In his foster home, he has a mellow and chill temperament and is happy with a comfy dog bed and a ball or bone to chew. He is not destructive and would love to be your couch buddy. He would prefer to be the only dog in the home. Kris loves to go for walks and can help you reach your 10,000 steps a day goal, especially during 'off peak' hours when there are not a lot of other dogs around. He loves to walk and is a good walker with a harness but would also really just love a a nice, fenced in backyard all to his own. Who is ready for a game of fetch? Adopt Kris! Story
We are so glad we rescued Shayna. Here is what the shelter told us about her: 'Sweetheart gal about 8 years old and 39 lbs. You won't find a nicer or more gentle girl. You know she lived her entire life on a chain - just heartbreaking.' We, too, already know that she is a gentle and sweet middle aged dog. She is affectionate and loves to be petted. She has moderate energy but she also likes to run around the play yard. She goes outside of her run to potty and never chews on anything she is not supposed to. She is a sweetheart! If you are interested in her please let us know. Thank you for your interest in Shayna (aka Shinner)! Foster Homes Needed! Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? http://www.muttloverescue.org/foster.html *****************   Holly is a cute, affectionate and active young dog, look at those ears !  She doesn't miss anything.  She loves people, but should ideally only live with adults and older children due to her activity level.   She is dog selective in a defensive way, she becomes uneasy when an unknown dog approaches.  Her new owner(s) would ideally be experienced with bully breed dogs. She is very active and will need an owner(s) who can give her enough exercise to wear her out, like a runner !!    She needs a securely fenced yard with a 6 ft privacy fence, as she likes to leap and jump in her play.  She is about 4 yrs old and 35 lbs, a great snuggle size; she's also good on a leash.  She's been fully vetted, including spay, vaccines and deworming.  She's very playful and loves her toys including old buckets, balls, kongs, antlers, beef bones and anything that can be thrown or she can kick around.  She's sweet and playful, and will make a great pet for the right person.    Please contact Dee at K9rescueva@gmail.com with any questions, and to meet this sweet girl.      **BECAUSE OF OUR REQUIREMENT FOR A HOME VISIT, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO ADOPT TO HOMES IN THE NORTHERN VA / MARYLAND / DC METRO AREA** We have adoption events EVERY SATURDAY from 12-3 p.m. Please note that not all dogs can attend every event, so if you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please complete a no-obligation application on our website at http://www.muttloverescue.org/application.html OR write to adopt@muttloverescue.org. Story
Foster Homes Needed! Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? http://www.muttloverescue.org/foster.html *****************   Marigold is an absolute joy in her foster home.  She is very fun-loving, playful and sweet.  She LOVES chew toys but needs extra tough chews because she is definitely a chewer.  She is also incredibly smart and enjoys playing with her dog puzzle toy, which she is very good at solving!  As she is so smart, she has picked up basic training with ease using positive reinforcement.  She responds to commands to sit and lay down and she is currently working on “leave it”.  She also knows how to sit calmly and wait before coming out of her crate and sits and stays before exiting and entering the house.  She walks well on leash, so long as she has the opportunity to exert all of her puppy energy.  When she gets to run around her fenced yard a bit prior to walks, she does beautifully!  Marigold is crate trained though does not like to be crated for prolonged periods, however, she does very well sleeping in her crate overnight. Marigold is extremely active and will definitely need to go to an active family that has the time to properly exercise her.  She enjoys several long walks daily in addition to playtime in the yard with the resident family dog, whom she adores.  She has been thriving having her older, confident foster sister as a role model. She is great with other dogs in general, including play dates with the neighbor dog.   Although Marigold is young and very active, she certainly enjoys quiet moments and is a wonderful snuggler!  When she is finished playing , she’ll often climb up on the couch and either cuddle or lay across a lap, which is very endearing.
