Story
ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Meet Marshall – A Sweet Senior Still Waiting for His Second Chance 🤎 Marshall—known lovingly by staff as “Marshy” or “Marshmallow”—has been waiting longer than most, and it’s hard not to feel how deeply he deserves to finally be home again. After spending 8 years in a loving, structured home, Marshall found himself back in the shelter system, and the sudden change was overwhelming for him. Kennel life has been especially hard, and his anxiety grew to the point where he now spends his days in the quieter break room at the farm, where he feels more comfortable and settled. And yet, even after everything, Marshall remains the same gentle, loving soul he’s always been. At his core, Marshall is a sweet, affectionate boy who just wants to be near his people. Once he feels safe, his personality begins to shine in the most endearing ways. He’s goofy, expressive, and full of quiet charm—the kind of dog who makes you smile without even trying. Marshall loves car rides, happily curling up in the back seat before eventually popping his head up to feel the wind on his face through an open window. He enjoys his naps, leans in for every bit of affection he can get, and has a funny, endearing habit of “talking” to his people when he’s feeling happy or engaged. He’ll roll around with his toys, soak up scratches (especially his favorite booty rubs), and even entertain himself by rolling toys down little hills just to chase them again. There’s a playful, silly side to Marshall that still comes out when he feels safe—and it’s one of the most beautiful things about him. What Marshall needs now is simple, but deeply important: a calm, loving home where he can feel secure again. A place where he can finally exhale, rebuild trust, and enjoy the comfort of belonging. He has already given so much of his heart in his lifetime. He’s just waiting for someone willing to give theirs back. Marshall is a senior, and no senior dog should have to spend their golden years in a shelter. To help him find the family he so deeply deserves, his adoption fee has been waived and he is part of our REWARDS program. Somewhere out there is a soft place for Marshall to land. We just need someone to see him. ESTIMATED WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 65 pounds. KNOWN WITH DOGS: Marshall is picky about his dog friends and would do best as the only dog in the home. KNOWN WITH CATS: Marshall is not a fan of cats so we think a home without them would be best. KNOWN WITH KIDS: Kids can make Marshall nervous and he would like to find a home where he can be the only child. KNOWN CUES: Sit, Down, Wait, Come, Crawl, Touch, Spin, Wait, Leave it KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING &/OR CRATING: Marshall is housebroken and does well when left alone. KNOWN LIKES: Love and attention, Toys, Food, Walks, Car rides, People, The Park KNOWN DISLIKES: Thunderstorms ___________________________________ If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail any questions to: trailshomefarm@homewardtrails.org PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ LOCATION:Trails Home Farm ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Trails Home Farm HOW TO MEET THIS ANIMAL: All dogs located at Trails Home Farm are in Delaplane, VA and require an appointment for approved applicants to have a meet and greet. His adoption fee has been sponsored by DoodyCalls of Northern Virginia! You can learn more about them at https://www.doodycalls.com/northern-va/. I'M ALSO PART OF THE REWARDS PROGRAM. WE WILL ALSO PAY MY FOSTER OR ADOPTER $500. HT has a number of dogs that need very special homes. These dogs have been failed by humans along the way, leaving them homeless and with issues from their treatment. We'll be honest. Some of them are real jerks. But not always. And not to everyone. Not everyone can be charming ALL the time, right? Others are just fearful and don't like other animals because they have had a bad interaction at some point. Some of them love other dogs but are just plain scared of everything. But all of them are good on the inside. And we believe that ALL of them deserve a chance at life and love. And we're looking to find the right human out there to make that happen. But competition is tough. And they're up against small, well-behaved doggies...so we are offering incentives for special humans willing to give these pooches a chance. WE WANT YOU! ***We are paying $500 to any approved foster or adopter of our REWARDS dogs.*** The human will also get ongoing training support, all supplies covered and a $25 Amazon gift card each month for 6 months. You will learn and grow. You will be doing a world of good for a dog who has really had it rough in life. ------------- HT ADOPTION INCLUSIONS: -Spay/Neuter -First 3 distemper series vaccines and dewormings -Rabies vaccine* age appropriate at time of adoption -Microchip - lifetime with no registration fees -Current on heartworm preventative -Current on flea/tick preventative ---- EXCLUSIVE HTAR ADOPTER BENEFITS: -$15 off your first chewy order of $49.00 or more -Exclusive pet insurance offers - $250 coverage at any VCA Hospital in the country -COMPLIMENTARY FIRST EXAMS at 10 DC-Area veterinarians - Free year-round dog training - KEEP YOUR PET SAFE: Homeward Trails is proud to offer PetLink GPS trackers that will allow you to know where your pet is in real time.**Exclusive for HT Adopters (does not include subscription plan): $50 Check it out here: https://landing.petlink.net/gps-dog-tracker -A portion of EVERY ADOPTION FEE supports spay/neuter efforts in under resourced communities -Free doggy day care offers -EXCLUSIVE DISCOUNTS for Homeward Trails events and merchandise -Win a $50 Amazon gift card

Story
Your Search for the Ultimate Cuddle Buddy Ends Here: Meet Gus! This handsome, exceptional sweetheart is all about love. Gus is a champion cuddler, who lives for a good grass roll and a long walk (watch out for the squirrels, he’s strong!). He’s recently recovered from his knee surgery and is back to running and playing with joyful abandon. Gus is a social butterfly with other dogs, adapting his play style for any friend he meets! He has never met a dog he didn’t adore, making him a fantastic choice for a home with dogs. Not only is Gus a canine charmer, but he’s also a proven cat friendly dog, happily sharing the couch and cuddling with cats in his previous home. You can trust Gus when you need to run errands or go to work! He is reliably housebroken and completely comfortable being left alone for several hours, resting comfortably in his crate until you return. Gus's main challenge is his "stranger danger." He is hesitant and uncomfortable with new people, especially when entering his home. This means he will thrive in a home with few visitors or an adopter dedicated to a clear management plan (like using a crate or a separate room when guests are over). He can be won over with a slow introduction and high-value treats, but patience and consistency are key. We are looking for an experienced, patient home willing to manage this behavior to keep Gus feeling safe and confident. KNOWN WITH DOGS: Gus is a champion canine socializer, never having met a dog he didn’t love to run around with or KNOWN WITH CATS: Gus is a perfect addition to a home with cats! He has lived with feline friends in a previous home and loved to cuddle with them on the couch. KNOWN WITH KIDS: Gus has a proven history living successfully with children and is known to be affectionate and playful with the kids he knows. Because of his caution with strangers, any introductions to new children should follow the same slow, managed process (using treats and distance) to help him feel comfortable. As he is a large, enthusiastic dog, he is best suited for a home with older, stable children who won't be easily knocked over during a zoomie session! KNOWN CUES: Gus is an incredibly smart boy who absolutely loves to learn and thrives on mental enrichment! His current known cues include “touch,” “sit,” “down,” “paw,” and “wait.” Gus is enthusiastically working to master “spin,” “rollover,” and “place.” This intelligent pup is highly motivated by treats and attention, making him a joy to train and a perfect partner for anyone interested in continued obedience or trick training! KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Gus is fully potty trained, crate trained, and happy to relax on his own when you're away, demonstrating he can be safely left for up to 12 hours at a time. KNOWN LIKES: When Gus isn’t snuggled up on the couch, you can find him happily engaged in his passions: * Treats: High-value snacks are the quickest way to his heart (and a great way to help him make new friends!). * Walks: He loves sniffing out the interesting scents on his neighborhood excursions. * Toys: His favorites are squeaky toys that he can toss around and destroy and, of course, a good, durable chew toy or a challenge like a frozen Kong. * Animal Friends: He adores playing with other dogs and is a proven cozy cuddler with both his canine and feline companions. KNOWN DISLIKES: Gus's main challenge is new people approaching too quickly. He needs slow, managed introductions (ideally with treats!) to feel safe and comfortable. He tends to be more cautious around men initially, but once he warms up, he is just as loving and devoted to the men in his life as he is to women. Patience is key to earning this sweet boy’s devotion! ___________________________________ If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail trailshomefarm@homewardtrails.org PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Trails Home Farm LOCATION: Foster in Marshall, VA near the Trails Home Farm HOW TO MEET THIS ANIMAL: Any dog at the Trails Home Farm or in foster require an appointment for any approved adopter to have a meet and greet. IF YOU ARE VIEWING THIS LISTING ON PETFINDER OR ADOPT-A-PET, please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to access adoption requirements, more information and pictures. Meet Dash! 🐾 The puppy with the BEST BOXER LIPS! Look at those smoochie jowls! Dash is a 9-month-old bundle of fun weighing about 64 pounds—and we think he’s going to be a big boy when he’s fully grown! This playful pup definitely lives up to his name and loves to zoom around the yard, wrestle with his doggy friends, and show off his impressive toy collection. Dash is a social butterfly with other dogs and would absolutely love a playful canine sibling to romp around with (though it’s not required). After a good play session, he’s just as happy to settle in for some cuddle time with his favorite humans. Because he’s young and eager to learn, Dash will need an adopter who is home a good portion of the day to continue his training and help him grow into the best boy he can be—no exceptions. Dash would do best in a home without cats or young children, where he can safely burn off his puppy energy and keep building his manners. If you’re looking for a happy, affectionate, and playful companion who will keep you smiling (and maybe a little more active!), Dash might be your perfect match. 🐕💨 Dash is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped and neutered. The Adoption Fee for this puppy $400.00. ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs and/or all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So, adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many! ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

IF YOU ARE VIEWING THIS LISTING ON PETFINDER OR ADOPT-A-PET, please visit: Caninesandkittiesrescue.org to access adoption requirements, more information and pictures. Meet Angel! Angel is an 8–9-year-young, 45-pound Boxer/Bulldog/Terrier mix with the sweetest, calmest, most loving personality. After years of neglect, Angel came to rescue with skin and eye infections, but with lots of care, her infections have cleared, her fur has grown back beautifully, and she’s now ready for her forever home. Angel was born with knee issues that limit her mobility, so she can’t do long walks, but she is not in pain and doesn’t let it dampen her spirit. She enjoys slow strolls, relaxing in the yard, sniffing around, and soaking up the sun. Because of her mobility needs, Angel would do best in a home with a fenced yard where she can safely explore at her own pace. Angel is wonderful with other dogs and people of all ages, including children. She enjoys playing with the other dogs in her foster home and would love a doggy friend in her forever home. Angel is on monthly medication and prescription food to keep her skin clear and healthy. Angel is spayed and she is up to date on vaccines and microchipped. The Adoption Fee is $300.00 ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Story
Milo is a distinguished gentleman, and he has exceptional house manners. He is completely house-trained, respects bed/ couch rules, sits for meals, never jumps on people, is completely trustworthy when left alone, is patient and sweet with both kids and adults, and is a very, very quiet guy. He is clean and fit, and his handsome brindle coat and bouncy trot bring comments wherever he goes! Milo enjoys time in a fenced yard, though he is just as happy to wander the neighborhood and enjoy all the smells on leash. Milo is used to being an only dog, but is friendly with other dogs he meets while on walks. Most of the time, he can be found on one of his dog beds, preferably in a sunbeam, just happy to be near his people. His cutest feature is the occasional happy dream barking he does when fast asleep! Please let us know if you would like to meet Milo! HART Homepage: https://hart90.org/ Questions About this Animal? Story
Meet Buster! This handsome young bully boy is as sweet as they come and a naturally social pup. He was rescued from a rural county shelter, where his standout doggy social skills caught the attention of one of our amazing foster moms, who stepped up to foster him and bring him safely into rescue. Buste has been thriving in his local foster home for the past few months, living with his foster parents, Travis and Laura, and two young playful pups, and he fit right in from day one. This handsome guy is a natural with other dogs, loves to play, shares toys nicely, and is a huge fan of tug-of-war. He’s also house-trained, crate-trained, and has excellent leash skills… honestly, the total package. We checked in with his foster dad, Travis, for an update: “Buster is very adaptable. He enjoys other dogs but is also very connected to his person. He doesn’t want conflict and has a very happy-go-lucky attitude. He’s easygoing and did great adjusting to life with our bigger dog, Penny. He was a little nervous the first day, but by day two, they were cuddling together. He’s young, playful, and energetic, so he’ll do best in an active home with a dog who likes to play. He listens well, wants to please, and walks nicely on leash without pulling.” Buster has been on a few road trips with his foster family to Camp Ivan, his foster parents’ home away from home in Paw Paw, WV, and he did great. He enjoyed the trails and wide-open space to romp and explore with his pup pack, but always keeps a close eye on his humans and likes to stay nearby. His recall is excellent, and he travels well. Buster is truly a gem of a dog - affectionate, easygoing, playful, and ready to find his forever family. He will make an excellent pack companion and family dog, and is ready to start his new life….Apply today! Foster Homes Needed! Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? http://www.muttloverescue.org/foster.html *****************   Holly is a cute, affectionate and active young dog, look at those ears !  She doesn't miss anything.  She loves people, but should ideally only live with adults and older children due to her activity level.   She is dog selective in a defensive way, she becomes uneasy when an unknown dog approaches.  Her new owner(s) would ideally be experienced with bully breed dogs. She is very active and will need an owner(s) who can give her enough exercise to wear her out, like a runner !!    She needs a securely fenced yard with a 6 ft privacy fence, as she likes to leap and jump in her play.  She is about 4 yrs old and 35 lbs, a great snuggle size; she's also good on a leash.  She's been fully vetted, including spay, vaccines and deworming.  She's very playful and loves her toys including old buckets, balls, kongs, antlers, beef bones and anything that can be thrown or she can kick around.  She's sweet and playful, and will make a great pet for the right person.    Please contact Dee at K9rescueva@gmail.com with any questions, and to meet this sweet girl.      **BECAUSE OF OUR REQUIREMENT FOR A HOME VISIT, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO ADOPT TO HOMES IN THE NORTHERN VA / MARYLAND / DC METRO AREA** We have adoption events EVERY SATURDAY from 12-3 p.m. Please note that not all dogs can attend every event, so if you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please complete a no-obligation application on our website at http://www.muttloverescue.org/application.html OR write to adopt@muttloverescue.org. Foster Homes Needed! Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? http://www.muttloverescue.org/foster.html *****************   Diamond is a beautiful, sweet blue Bully Girl who is a sweetheart, she is around 5.5 years old and weighs 60 lbs.  She has had too many litters in her short life, but now she's on the mend.  She’s such a sweet, humble girl. It was hard to get good pics because she just wanted to snuggle.  She carries her toys around thinking they are her babies.  Diamond is quiet and reserved.  She would be best as an only pet as she has tons of love to give her family. She’d be a great dog for a solo, retired or family.  She fits all bills!    Ask for her video.  She would thrive in a home with a fenced in yard.  She is people focused and is best not having to be leash-walked and can just relax in her kingdom with her people.  She is dog reactive a life where she can focus on her people and just give them all the love in the world for years to come.  She just needs a quiet home with her people and she will be the Diamond she was meant to be. Ask for her videos!  Email Dee at  k9rescueva@gmail.com , with questions and to schedule a meeting.
