Story
🎃ADOPT WOOKIE🎃 Hi everybody, my name is Wookie and I’m a 10 lb. male Shih Tzu mix (best guess), about 18 months old. I know it may seem like a weird name, but if you are into Star Wars you would understand. With my cute little underbite and beautiful big eyes, I look a little bit like Chewbacca. If you really do not like it, I’d be OK with you changing my name to something you like better. Either way, I am cute as a button, always a very happy boy and as content as can be keeping your feet warm while you are cooking your dinner. I have been doing pretty well with my house training, but am still a puppy with a small bladder. So, making sure I get put outside to go potty regularly will make you and me both happy campers. When home alone I currently hang out with my foster brother and sister. My mom tried to put me in a crate, but I wanted nothing to do with that thing. I will eat in there and maybe hang out for a few minutes, but I really just want to be near my humans. Ideally, I’d love to end up in a home where someone is home with me quite a bit. Speaking of being with humans, I don’t really understand the whole personal space concept. I want to be as close to you as possible. I also hope you’re open to me being near you at nighttime, as I really don’t like being by myself at night. My preference is to cuddle right up next to you in bed at night. I promise I don’t take up much space, and I don’t really move around much. I definitely need some training. When it comes to my walk, I don’t really understand what that long thing is that gets attached to my collar. I’ve heard it called a leash, but I have no idea what I’m supposed to do when it’s attached to my collar. I’m learning though. I am very smart, and I am picking things up pretty quickly in my foster home. Along with some training, I probably could use a little socializing and patience. I was a little sheltered growing up, and can be a little skittish around things when first exposed to something. However, one of my amazing traits is that I can be groomed very easily and really don’t mind being brushed or having my eyes cleaned so I will be very easy to keep looking super dapper. As I mentioned earlier, I am still young and still have a few puppy tendencies. So far, I think I’ve stayed out of trouble for the most part, but I do like my chew toys and bones. You may want to make sure I have plenty of those, or I may end up chewing something I’m not supposed to. It wouldn’t be on purpose; I just don’t know any better. But I do love to play! I guess I’m quite entertaining when I do my zoomies in the house as my foster mom just cracks up laughing. Oh, I hope you have some of those small squeaky tennis balls at your house. If you throw those for me, I love to run after them. I even bring them back so you can throw them again. I told you I was pretty smart. And I’m not picky, I’d love to run and chase them in a nice little yard outside, but I’m just as content to chase them in the house. I’d say I’m a mellow happy little munchkin who’s ready to go into my permanent home to give lots of kisses and cuddles, so if you think I would be the perfect companion, please fill out an application as I can’t wait until the day we can be best buddies and I am finally in my forever home. I also hope you’re open to me being near you at night time, as I really don’t like being by myself at night. My preference is to cuddle next to you at night. I promise I don’t take up much space, and I don’t really move around much. I have been vet checked, neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested negative, am up to date on routine shots including rabies and have been treated with flea & heartworm prevention. Wookie’s adoption fee is $525. You must submit an adoption application before a meeting can be scheduled. The application serves as a basis for a conversation. So if you are interested in adopting, then go to our website, heathersfosterdogs.org, to complete an electronic application. Use the menu at the top of the page & click on “Adoption Application.” Submit your completed application & you will be contacted. We are located in the south suburbs of Chicago and serve the greater Chicago metropolitan area.

Story
Alumni Super Sweet Senior, Mickey Seeking A Forever Home! Poor Mickey! Through no fault of his own he has had at least 4 homes! We found him in 2016 at a community free access shelter at the height of the canine flu! Not only was that a strike against bim but he had broken toes and was next in line to the euth room. We got him our in the nick of time. We covered his medical care. He improved, and healed and landed a lovely new Mom. Sadly Coved him and his mom passed. The family sent Mickey to live with a family friend that adored him. Sadly, his new Mom fell ill and needed to relinquish him to us. No Micky is on the hunt for a forever family that won't let him down. Mickey is a very gentle boy that loves everyone. He is pretty quiet, happy to take long naps in between wandering around the yard, sitting on a deck or taking a walk. He is also happy to nap with you and the family cat! He is quiet and always hoping yummy food might drop his way. He gets along with everyone. He was pee pad trained which might be helpful. We estimate he is 14ish.. He is a healthy fella although has had some allergy issues in the past and recovered IVDD. Mickey is fully vetted, He has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and is heartworm negative, His adoption donation is $450.00. He is on the hunt for his own completely committed family, Little Dogs can live to be 25 years old so he wants to be sure al for better or for worse! We adopt in the local Chicago metro area. We require home visits, If you would like to apply to be considered as an adoption candidate to adopt Mickey please fill out an application for his adoption on our website at: https://www.rescuetailsanimalwelfare.org/info/adoption We are all volunteers with full time jobs. We try to get back to all applicants within 72 hours. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us at: RescueTailsAnimalWelfare@gmail.com. Story
Chauncey is a 2 yr old 15 lbs silver terrier poodle mix (Scoodle) boy ready for his very own forever home. He is seeking a human/s to adore and shower with affection. This adorable pup arrived from KY with an Achilles tendon injury which appears to be old but does not slow this active, hopping, cuddly, sweet, smart, social, playful little boy.  He knows his name well. Chauncey's leg can be surgically corrected or but does not need to be.  He does just fine and is not in pain.  His injury is probably the reason he was surrendered. Chauncey's favorite things include his fox toy Baby, treats and toys of any kind, neighborhood walks, belly rubs, car rides, playing fetch, cuddles and following a human in adoration.  This boy waits outside the shower for the human...and will jump into an empty tub when his water bowl is empty (hint-hint). Chauncey deserves a human who doesn't expect perfection but wants a perfectly loving companion pup.  This very special boy needs a chance to shine as the stellar pup he is.  The adoption fee of $400 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! If you are interested in adopting/meeting , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 21, 2023, 2:01 pm
