Story
Ari is being fostered in PA. Little Ari is guessed to be about 12 years old and appears to be a shih tzu mix. She is a quiet, gentle, passive, loveable girl who loves her meals and can sleep like no other! She gets along well with other dogs, cats, and people of all ages. She simply ignores other dogs and cats in her foster home and needs to be in a home with gentle pets and children because it does not appear like she will defend or stick up for herself. She is just as happy to snuggle up on the sofa as she is to find her bed for the day on the floor. She seems to enjoy sniffing all she can when she’s outside but may not make the best walk buddy, as she’d rather meander and smell things. She rides well in the car and tolerates her foster mom’s kisses very well. Ari is completely blind since she has no eyes and her hearing is poor. Her foster mom keeps a potty pad close to her bed so when she gets up from her nap, she has it to potty on when her mom is working. She will not indicate a need to go out to potty. She will need to be carried outside but does fine exploring once she’s out. She cannot go up or down stairs by herself. She will have a dental and a lumpectomy of a non-cancerous mass on her cheek on May 9th and will be ready to find her forever home shortly after. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Agatha girl is estimated to be about 4 years old. She is said to be a shih tzu poodle mix. Agatha came to us from one of our partner rescues after being released from a puppy mill. Insanely enough, she was extremely pregnant. Agatha has been in our care for quite some time now tending to her babies. They are close to being all grown up and she is definitely excited to be the center of attention. Mom life? So yesterday. Agatha is looking for a home that she can be guided with patience and love while she learns how to be a dog. Prior to coming into our care she had enver lived in a home, so everything was new. Thankfully she's a little diva and has adjusted to the home life real quick. She is working on potty training. She is great in a play pen and should catch on to crate training fairly quickly. She has never met a stranger and LOVES attention. She is dog friendly. We don't know if she is the playful type because she has been busy being a mom. She is looking for a foster to adopt home as her spay appointment is set up for 5/19 ensuring her enough time after her babies for a safe and comfy spay. If you are interested in fostering to adopt Agatha please apply directly for considering. This would involve her selected family to transport her to her spay appointment in the Irving Park neighborhood. If you have any questions before applying please email adopt@chicagorescueauthority.org. Her adoption fee includes herr up to date vaccines and preventatives, heartworm test, spay, and microchip.

Story
Ariel is an estimated 7 year old, tiny girl. Ariel came to us from one of our partner rescues after being released from a commercial breeder. She was extremely matted and unsocialized however she didn't let that stop her. All she wanted was to be by you, held, or laying on a comfortable bed. Ariel had a dental recently where we discovered just how bad her diet and lack of medical was. She has 14 teeth extracted (yikes, I know it sounds like a lot but dogs have a lot of teeth and she is eating GOOD) and had a bit of a recovery after this was done. Again, she did not let that stop her and she continued to prove that she is the sweetest and forgiving girl. She is crate trained, but when she is out she just finds her bed. She is not fully potty trained so she will need a home with patience and routine, this is to be expected when before coming to the rescue she had never lived in a home. She is looking to be someones companion and best friend. Ariel is adoptable within 3 years old Chicago. Her adoption fee includes her spay, dental, up to date vaccines and preventatives, and microchip. If you have any questions prior to applying please email adopt@chicagorescueauthority.org

Alumni Super Sweet Senior, Mickey Seeking A Forever Home! Poor Mickey! Through no fault of his own he has had at least 4 homes! We found him in 2016 at a community free access shelter at the height of the canine flu! Not only was that a strike against bim but he had broken toes and was next in line to the euth room. We got him our in the nick of time. We covered his medical care. He improved, and healed and landed a lovely new Mom. Sadly Coved him and his mom passed. The family sent Mickey to live with a family friend that adored him. Sadly, his new Mom fell ill and needed to relinquish him to us. No Micky is on the hunt for a forever family that won't let him down. Mickey is a very gentle boy that loves everyone. He is pretty quiet, happy to take long naps in between wandering around the yard, sitting on a deck or taking a walk. He is also happy to nap with you and the family cat! He is quiet and always hoping yummy food might drop his way. He gets along with everyone. He was pee pad trained which might be helpful. We estimate he is 14ish.. He is a healthy fella although has had some allergy issues in the past and recovered IVDD. Mickey is fully vetted, He has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and is heartworm negative, His adoption donation is $450.00. He is on the hunt for his own completely committed family, Little Dogs can live to be 25 years old so he wants to be sure al for better or for worse! We adopt in the local Chicago metro area. Story
Grace is a sweet dog who will make a good companion. Grace came to us via animal control. She had been left in a box and found in the alley on a hot summer day. Grace was matted, emaciated and in rough shape. When we brought her in from animal control she was unable to walk. As it turned out, her inability to walk was not due to physical impairment but from plain weakness, hunger and condition. She had been nearly starved to death and left to die like trash in the alley, We spent the next couple of months getting her weight stable and body condition back to normal. Because she had been starved she did guard her food. That has disappeared but to be safe we do not want to place her with young children, Grace enjoys other dogs to play with and is fine with cats. Grace loves to be outside in the yard. She thinks she is the protector of her domain and is a bit of a barker when people pass her view at the gate or down the alley. She can be stubborn and not come in when called. She will benefit from dog training. Like all dogs , she will need structure and a patient, loving home. We recommend training for all dogs —not only to give Grace important learning skills, but because you and your dog will create a stronger bond just by going through the training together. Grace is fully vetted. She has been spayed, received age-appropriate vaccines, and is microchipped. Subsequent vaccines will be at the expense of her adopter. Her adoption donation is $..600.00. She is on the hunt for her own completely committed family. Little dogs can live to be 20+ years old, so Grace wants to be sure her family is all in for better or for worse! IF INTERESTED IN A PUPPY (UNDER 9 MONTHS): You must have a flexible work schedule or someone home all day. Puppies need to be let out to potty often. They need socialization, bonding, and training (housetraining and behavioral training). If you work long hours, have a busy social schedule, or are not financially secure, then a puppy is not for you. We adopt in the local Chicago metro area. We require home visits. If you would like to apply to be considered as an adoption candidate for Grace, please fill out an application for her adoption on our website at: https://www.rescuetailsanimalwelfare.org/info/adoption. The first step in the process is to complete an application. We are all volunteers with full-time jobs. We try to get back to all applicants within 72 hours. We are an in home foster group. Story
Sally Owens, if you get it, you get it. Sally is one of local shelter pulls after being found as a stray. It is very obvious that at one time she lived in a home and enjoyed all the comfort things it has to offer. We don't know how she ended up in a shelter, but we do know that she deserves a home to call her own and we want nothing more than to find it. Sally is estimated to be between 6-7 years old. She has a little bit of vision impairment but definitely doesn't at like that so we're assuming it's with older age. She is currently on some eye drops to help ensure that she doesn't have dry eyes but thankfully so far a recommended OFC cost friendly option has done the trick. As we are sure they were really painful at first, she does get a little defensive of putting in the eye drops so she requires the patience of someone willing to create a routine and work with her. I would hate if someone was sticking something in my eyes also, I guess. She is corky and full of personality. She is the kind of dog that minds her own, but you can't help but get a good laugh out of her. She enjoys a good bed, or multiple, she isn't picky but is spoiled. She is great after a couple of minutes of dramatically dragging her paw on the bars in her crate. She is working on and doing well with potty training and though when put into her forever home there will be a transition period, she can stand a normal work day of 8 hours. She is great on walks and gets so excited that she tries to hold her own leash from time to time. Though she doesn't require long walks or extra activity, she would love a minimum for happiness. Sally is located in the Chicagoland area and accepting applications for residents within 3 hours of Chicago. If you have any questions before applying please email adopt@chicagorescueauthority.org. Her adoption fee includes spay, up to date vaccines and preventatives, heartworm negative and microchip.
