Greetings, my dear. Magnum here, distinguished senior gentleman, connoisseur of leisurely strolls, good company, and being told how handsome I am. I’ve been around the block a few times, and while I may have a few more years behind me, I still have plenty of pep in my step. I’m an easygoing fellow who walks nicely on leash, enjoys a good cuddle, and can be picked up when necessary. Every now and then, my dignified exterior gives way to my silly side, and I might surprise you with a little burst of playfulness. A gentleman is allowed to have fun, after all.I should tell you something important about me, though: I really, really need someone who will take care of my magnificent coat. Unfortunately, I’ve spent much of my life without the care I needed and have arrived at the shelter more than once severely matted. When I’m covered in painful tangles, I don’t feel good and I become a very sad, withdrawn version of myself. After getting the proper groom and having all that discomfort removed, I blossom into the sweet, happy, silly gentleman I truly am. My future family must be prepared to have me professionally groomed every 6–8 weeks, without exception, as well as keep up with regular coat care between appointments. This isn’t simply about keeping me looking handsome—it’s an essential part of keeping me comfortable, healthy, and feeling like myself. I also have a bit of an issue with my one eye and need daily drops to keep me feeling and seeing my best, the medical people here can fill you in! My Foster Mom says I`m pretty good about getting my daily drops so long as you`ve got some tasty treats. I would be perfectly happy living in a house or an apartment and would enjoy sharing my home with a respectful canine companion or by myself. I may be a senior, but please don’t mistake my age for a lack of personality—I’ve still got some spunk left in these little legs! My history hasn’t always been the easiest, but I’m ready to spend my golden years being spoiled, properly cared for, and treated like the little gentleman I know I am. If you’re looking for a sweet old soul with a touch of sass and a very important grooming schedule, I believe we may have an appointment with destiny.

Meet Kookie! Kookie is a small, cute little guy with a big personality! He’s friendly with people and other dogs and would love to find a family who will appreciate his sweet nature while helping him continue to build confidence and good habits. Kookie does have some mild separation anxiety, but he seems to feel more comfortable when Luci is around. For this reason, Kookie and Luci need to find a home together. He also does well with other dogs, so a home with another friendly dog could be a wonderful fit for him. Kookie does have a couple of behaviours that his adopters will need to be prepared to manage and work on. He is known to resource guard his food from both people and other dogs, so he’ll need thoughtful management, patience, and positive training around mealtimes. Because of this, a home with children could work best with adopters who are committed to supervising and managing this behaviour appropriately. Kookie may also urine mark at times. His adopters should be prepared for some patience and training as he works on this habit. Neutering may help reduce marking behaviour, along with consistent management and positive reinforcement. Kookie is a friendly little guy who gets along with other dogs, and his compatibility with cats is currently unknown. His beautiful coat will also need regular brushing at home, along with professional grooming approximately every 8 weeks to keep him comfortable and looking his best.
