Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Callie is a Shih Tzu female, just over two years old who weighs 18 pounds.  She is a very sweet, playful girl who gets along well with other dogs...don't know about cats, she is smart and very curious about what goes on around her.  She loves to go for car rides, has very good house manners, and loves to go outside to chase squirrels or just see what's going on in the neighborhood,  She was found as a stray so her history is unknown but she seems to have had some behavior training.  Of course she will cuddle on your lap any time and magically appear in your bed at night. Callie is up to date with her shots and will require a fenced yard.  You can meet Calllie at PetSmart Utica, Saturday from 12:00 to 2:00 PM.  Callie would also do best with an age appropriate/energy level friend.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ********************************************************************************** We show some of our adoptable dogs at PetSmart, Utica, each Saturday between the hours of 11:00am and 3:00pm.  Cats typically don't do well at events, so they only attend with a pre-approved meet and greet appointment. If you are interested in a particular pet, we suggest you email: mmarpaws@gmail.com to see if that pet will be there.   Applications are approved on the basis of the best and most appropriate home for the animal, not on a first come, first served basis. On site adoption available to pre-approved applicants only.   Adoption fees go towards vaccines, heartworm prevention/testing, flea/tick prevention, spay/neuter and other medical problems that may arise.   MMAR is an all volunteer, foster based, 501 (c) 3, non profit organization. Without your donation, wonderful pets like these have to be passed by because we cannot afford their care.   If you would like to donate please send donation to: MMAR Box 180155 Utica, MI 48318   Donate online at https://www.sanilacscoopers.org/   Please email us at mmarpaws@gmail.com for additional information or to set up special appointments March 29, 2025, 6:47 am

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG:https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=44, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=46) completely. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). Story
Meet Salvador! Salvador aka Sal is a 7-month-old puppy with a personality as big as his heart! This little guy is full of energy and love, and he’s looking for his forever family to share his playful spirit and cuddly nature with! His favorite activities include playing with his foster fur siblings, chasing squeaky toys, and enjoying a yak chew. When it’s time to wind down, he’s the #1 cuddler, always ready to give the best puppy hugs and snuggles! Sal is a blend of outgoing and laidback - he is social and loving, curious and playful, snuggly and silly. Sal is smart and treat motivated, making training enjoyable and smoother for all. He has learned many basic commands like "sit", "shake", "lay down", "outside", "crate", and his name. Sal is fully potty trained and fully crate trained - he even sleeps through the night in his kennel! He is working on leash training. Sal is great with other dogs, but has not been around cats. He is also really great with kids of all ages. His ideal family would be one that’s fairly active, possibly with children and/or another young dog around his size to match his playful energy. Sal prefers dogs who are the same size or larger than him. He could be the only dog in the home with someone who is committed to his socialization and training. If you have an adult dog, your dog will accompany you to the meet and greet to assist with the selection process. Adoptions are based on connection and chemistry! Adoption Fee: $325 This fee covers spay/neuter when age-appropriate, vaccines to date of adoption, deworming, microchip, and a clean bill of health. Sal is scheduled for neuter at the end of March. Story
Meet Mona!MEET ME AT THE NEXT WAG-N-WASH ADOPTION EVENT ON SATURDAY 4/12 FROM 11AM-2PM!4918 Adams Rd, Rochester, MI 48306 Age: 6 yearsWeight: 9 lbsBreed: Shih Tzu and Papillon Mix (best guess) Mona was found as a stray in Detroit and unfortunately was never reclaimed. When she arrived at the shelter, she was understandably scared and fearful of new faces. Additionally, due to an untreated eye infection, she had to have one of her eyes surgically removed. While she has adjusted to her new life, she is still a bit cautious, especially on her left side, so patience is key when approaching her. Mona can be selective about who she chooses as her human companions—she is definitely in charge of selecting her new family! This means that she may take her time to warm up to you, but once she does, she’ll be an affectionate and loyal companion. Though she gets along with other dogs and has lived with cats in foster care, Mona would thrive best in an adult-only home where her quirks can be understood and embraced. Due to the condition of her coat, she had to be cut short. Mona is not fond of grooming and will need an experienced groomer who can be patient with her during the process. Living Preferences: Sleep: Mona prefers to sleep in bed with her person rather than being crated. Playtime: She loves to play with toys and has a mischievous side as a first-class sock thief! House Manners: Mona demonstrates a good understanding of house manners, making her a delightful housemate. Additional Notes: Boujee Girl: She is not a fan of going outside in the rain, so she will need some encouragement or there will be accidents. Food Motivation: While Mona is food motivated, she can be a little overzealous when taking treats, so gentle guidance will be appreciated. Fenced Yard: A fenced yard is important for her safety and comfort as she enjoys wandering and exploring. Mona rides well in the car, making her a good traveling companion! She would do best with someone who has experience with dogs and understands her unique personality traits. She may display a bit of stubbornness and an attitude at times but is sure to reward your patience with endless love and loyalty. Mona deserves a family that will appreciate her special qualities—both good and quirky. If you think you can provide her with a loving forever home, she can’t wait to meet you!
