Story
Meet Josie!
Josie is a 2-year-old, 10 lb Shih Tzu mix with a heart full of love and a gentle, social personality. She was found as a stray in Detroit, severely overgrown and matted, and sadly, no one came forward to reclaim her. Now cleaned up and safe, Josie is ready to start her next chapter with a family of her own.
This sweet girl enjoys the company of others and has done well with other dogs and cats. She would also likely do well with dog-savvy children who understand gentle handling. Josie thrives on being close to her people and would make a wonderful lap dog for someone looking for a loyal, affectionate companion. She can also sometimes be a busy girl with a goofy personality, which will bring you endless entertainment!
Josie is crate trained and has demonstrated a good understanding of house manners. She is not a good candidate for a tether system or an invisible fence and will need a secure, appropriate setup to keep her safe. As a Shih Tzu mix, she will require regular grooming to keep her coat healthy and comfortable.
Josie is a loving, devoted little girl who is looking for an active family to cherish her and give her the stability she deserves. If you’re searching for a cuddly companion to love you back endlessly, Josie may be your perfect match!

Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different.
While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program.
