Meet Chocko — a 3-year-old, 20-pound Shih Tzu/Cocker Spaniel mix with a huge personality, a happy spirit, and a nose that believes every walk should be a full-blown “Sniff-fari.” This handsome little guy is the perfect combination of fun, affection, curiosity, and companionship all wrapped up in one adorable package. Chocko is the kind of dog who wakes up every day excited to see what adventure might happen next. Whether it’s a long neighborhood walk, a car ride to run errands, a weekend road trip, or simply exploring the backyard like it’s brand new, he is ALL IN. He absolutely loves his walks and can happily stroll for blocks without slowing down, making him a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys being active and having a loyal little sidekick along for the ride. And when the adventures are over? Chocko transforms into the sweetest companion who just wants to be near his people. He has wonderful house manners, travels beautifully in the car, and would gladly accept the role of full-time co-pilot in someone’s life. If you’ve ever wanted a dog who is always ready to go wherever you go, Chocko is your guy. He does very well with crate training and potty training and is eager to continue learning new commands and routines. Chocko is a smart boy who truly enjoys interaction and engagement. He also loves other dogs and wants very much to play and socialize with them. Due to some hardships in his previous life, he does have mild food guarding tendencies, but it is easily managed by feeding him separately from other pets. Outside of mealtime, he is loving, social, and full of joy. What makes Chocko especially lovable is his personality. He has that perfect mix of silly and sweet — one minute proudly investigating every smell on earth with total determination, and the next minute gazing up at you with those soulful eyes like you are his entire world. He brings energy and laughter into a home without being overwhelming, and his affectionate nature makes it impossible not to fall for him. Chocko is ready for a fresh start with someone who will appreciate his playful spirit, continue building his confidence, and include him as part of everyday life. Milo is a loving and attention thrived dog, he loves to be around his person, once he build that relationship! Of course, he is loving and loves to cuddle, play with his favorite ball and receive attention. Milo has had a difficult time connecting with a new person he was not raised with. He has been with me since a puppy stage during the pandemic & his transition has been rough, because of anxiety issues and struggles with resource guarding his person “me” it has come to the unfortunately conclusion that he would be happier in a space with someone who is alone or a couple adopting him together, two people establishing and building a relationship with him simultaneously. He is typically friendly but does get nervous around bigger dogs which can resort to barking but sometimes shows curiosity towards dogs his size or smaller. Most times he is very anxious about being alone due to him being g with someone throughout the day but this has been an area training and mindful ness has improved

'Nauti' Girl!MEET VALENCIA! This little lady’s world was rocked earlier in December when her owner was deported and she found herself scared and alone in the shelter. The outpouring of empathy and support for her and her situation was heartwarming, and she quickly found her way into a very experienced foster home with four other small dogs (some of whom had had similar, stressful backgrounds) and multiple cats. There she has had the time to settle, destress and come to life again. She is now back to what we believe is her true-self; a playful little gal who will roll over for tummy rubs for her (adult) human and play with her toys to entertain herself. Her favorite is stealing a nautical rope ball her foster mom has on a table, thus “Nauti” girl. Ha! Valencia is bi-lingual having come to Tara’s House familiar with basic commands in Spanish and is picking up their English translations (Sit and Down, for instance). She enjoys hanging out with and playing with her foster-siblings, both canine and feline varieties. She sleeps through the night and has gone into an open crate to rest on her own several times (although she is not crated otherwise.) Valencia has had some stress in her life and it sometimes manifests in her being fearful of new people (or even people who aren’t her main care-giver). She should not go to a home with children (most small dogs shouldn’t) and would do best in a home that can give her consistency as well as love. We think she would do best with another small dog in the home, as she could use the confidence that a canine relationship can bring and she seems to genuinely like other dogs. She is fearful at times so needs a strong leader that can show her that her human has things under control. Valencia’s adoption donation fee is $450, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip.
