Story
Permanent, Loving Homes Needed for Senior Rescue Dogs Over many years, I have monitored and tried to help this particular group of dogs. These dogs have been loved, responsibly vetted, and cared for throughout their lives, though not in an ideal overall situation. They were in a somewhat hoarding situation… not the typical not cared for at all one, but still applies. They were kept clean and fed and I paid for most of their vet care along the way, but their owner would not surrender them until now. I am finally allowed to find them homes, and cannot provide the level of long-term veterinary care these dogs deserve — including dental work, senior monitoring, and ongoing medical needs, thus, I am seeking permanent, stable homes where their remaining years can be lived with comfort, dignity, and consistency. What I am looking for • A calm, stable home • Someone experienced with senior dogs • Financial ability to provide ongoing veterinary and dental care • A commitment to keep them for life — no rehoming • Patience, kindness, and realistic expectations These dogs are older (aged 8 to 12 years old), and while many are still active, affectionate, and content, they will require the kind of care someone prepared for senior dogs can provide. What I will provide Full transparency about age, temperament, and medical needs Important medical history is known I do not have every vaccine record/etc but they are all spayed/ neutered, microchipped, and current on rabies vaccines Time for proper introductions Careful, thoughtful placement — this will not be rushed I am open to placing individual dogs or compatible pairs, and I will work closely with the right people to ensure a good match. If you are genuinely experienced with senior dogs and are prepared — financially and emotionally— to care for one for the rest of their life, please reach out by private message and tell me about yourself, your home, and your experience. These dogs deserve peace, safety, and love for the remainder of their lives. Thank you for reading with compassion. Hi, we're Misty and Lulu, real sisters (in the Seattle area) with hearts full of love. We can be adopted together or separate. We're sweet, friendly, and mellow. At 9 and 20 lbs, we're a perfectly bonded pair, if you are open to 2, but also do fine separately. We are fully vetted and ready to find a forever home where we can share our loyalty and love. We promise to fill your home with warmth and companionship. Consider making us a part of your family; we're just waiting to love and be loved in return. Note: when proof of dental is sent, the adoption fee will be returned to the adopter. We are DESPERATE for a home of our own. We are about 8 years old. Despite our different looks, we are true sisters from the same purebred shih tzu mommy dog. We are 2 of the best pups there too (we don't just say that, our fosters tell us so as well). They say we are absolutely too sweet and wonderful to be stuck without a home of our own. We do great with kids, cats, and other dogs... as long as the other dogs are not bossy or mean to us. We do pretty good not pottying in the house as long as we are kept on a regular schedule going outside. We are super sweet natured. We love to see what you are doing and just be near you whatever that is. We are not super high energy, so no need to do any dramatic things with us activity wise. We just love attention and cuddles! We need to be monitored when fed so Lulu doesn't eat all of the food... she tends to like it the most and steals mine when she can. I know we aren't young puppies anymore, but please give us a chance. Our rescue has a trial designed for you... so that you can be sure we are a good fit with your situation. Our vetting up to date (spay, heartworm free and on preventative, rabies, microchip, other vaccines up to date), with the exception of our dentals that need updated. We had our last dental about 3 years ago. I (Misty) have an old eye injury that I have had since a puppy. It does not bother me I am so used to not seeing too well out of that eye.

Story
Yoshi is a small dog that loves his toys, loves to play fetch and tug on a toy. He can be a little shy and standoffish when he first meets new people. But he'll warm up to you if you play fetch or give him a special treat. He likes to play but also will snuggle up with you when playtime is over. He will sleep in his crate or on the bed if you prefer. He does require grooming but doesn't shed. We're moving to Europe with the military and can't take him with us. He is a sweet playful dog. He is good in the car, lives with two cats. It may be best if Yoshi is the only dog as he hasn't been in a live in situation with another dog. He has been around children 7 and up.

Story
Bailer is black and white Shipom (Shih Tzu/Pomeranian) puppy. Bailer is the sweetest dog ever. He is fluffy and cute and he loves to cuddle. He is happy to lay quietly in your arms, just being pet and snuggle beside you. Baler also loves to play and will chase toys and run them back to you. He is happy to go for walks and run behind you. He can be found taking the other dog’s leash in his mouth while on a walk with a second dog. It’s the cutest thing ever. Baler is easy going and enjoys riding in the car. He is super friendly and will say hi to everyone that he meets. He relishes love and attention. He is equally good with adults as with children. Bailer sleeps in a kennel in the bedroom. He likes to be nearby. He would probably love to sleep in bed with his owner but does well in his kennel too. Bailer is working on potty training by being crate trained. He is doing an excellent job of learning. He still has to be watched when out of the kennel but knows to use the bathroom when outside. He is wonderful. If you give him a chewy bone, then he’s happy as clam. He’s good with other dogs and with children, and rides well in a car. He is smart and cute and funny and a great companion.

Story
Meet Brando — affectionate, playful, and full of heart. Brando is a loyal, loving companion who bonds deeply with his person and loves being part of the action—especially if that action involves snuggles on the couch, fetch in the backyard, or a good neighborhood walk. He’s especially fond of his foster’s grandson and loves spending time with him. When it’s time for bed, Brando happily runs to his crate and settles in for the night. Brando is doing well with house training, especially with regular potty breaks. He’ll even celebrate his progress with a case of the zoomies! He eats well, enjoys a mix of healthy snacks like apples and carrots, and appreciates a consistent routine. That said, Brando is still learning how to feel secure in the world. He struggles in overstimulating environments. Brando will thrive in a quiet, low-traffic home with adults or older, dog-savvy teens. He would love a steady routine, a calm environment, and a human he can dote on. Because he struggles with separation anxiety, he’s not suited for long hours alone or a highly social household—but for someone looking for a constant companion, Brando could be the perfect match. This sweet boy has so much love to give. He just needs someone who understands that some dogs take a little longer to feel safe—but once they do, they give you everything. ----- A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters: Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means: ✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment. ✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing). ✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed. The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like. Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are. Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type. ----- Thank you for your interest in adopting a dog from Little Dog Rescue. Our dogs come from a variety of sources and backgrounds. They are all in need of adopters that have patience, an understanding of where these dogs have come from, and that there will be an adjustment time when they transition into their forever home. This can include learning basic commands, walking on leash and potty training. Some dogs will pick up on your routine and expectations faster than others. Potty accidents will happen. We find that positive reinforcement, consistency, and routine from the adopter achieves the best results. We are a small, all volunteers team and give 100% of our efforts towards doing right by these pups. We are often juggling many responsibilities at the same time and do our very best to process inquiries and applications in a timely manner. We do prioritize inquiries that have a submitted application on file through the Little Dog Rescue website. We do our best to accurately assign breed designations, however we are unable to guarantee 100% accuracy. Sometimes we only have the dogs appearance to go on. Our adoption fees are thoughtfully considered. The adoption fee is not a purchase price for the dog. It is a fee that is designed to support the overall work of our rescue. Highly desirable dogs and puppies are intentionally listed with a higher adoption fee. This is done to help offset the enormous medical expenses we incur when taking in older pups and special needs medical dogs whose adoption fees do not come close to covering their expenses. In addition, the vast majority of our dogs are brought in from out of state and incur transport fees along with their medical and acquisition costs. We ask that you take all of these things into consideration, and we look forward to finding a great match for your family.
