PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. To see more pictures and some videos of this dog, please visit our Facebook page and look under “photos” and then “albums”. 2-year-old female Terrier/Pom/ShihTzu mix, about 22 pounds. Jenzie is a very active and high energy girl. She is so sweet, a lot goofy and very inquisitive about everything! And she has EARS for days! She LOVES her people and to be around (or ON!) them all of the time, but she does not have separation anxiety. She can chill in her crate just fine if you are away or need a break. She tends to be too much for dogs smaller than her but does great with dogs her size or bigger. Not a good dog to have with kids due to her wild play style and cats are a no! She will need lots of walking, exercise and enrichment. She is a dog that will require you to spend some time training and engaging with, as she is not your average Netflix and chill type dog. If you are athletic, like to hike or run, do agility or activity engage in fun dog activities, she will be an excellent adventure buddy and loyal friend! She is such a great dog!! To request an adoption application, email smidgetrescue@hotmail.com Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend. For a list of scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events . Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Additional pictures of adoptable dogs can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older. Puppies are adopted with a refundable spay/neuter deposit (in addition to the adoption fee) and adopters are required to get their puppy to our vet for their pre-scheduled spay-neuter appointments. APPLICATIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY EMAIL ONLY. Adoption process includes application, meet & greet, home visit and reference check. Email Jamie at smidgetrescue@hotmail.com or click on the CONTACT link on this page. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS BEFORE SENDING. 8632781We get a fair number of incorrect emails and Jamie is not able to contact potential adopters. Notice: We do not ship dogs out of state. You must live within a three-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), so we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.

Story
Hi! My name is Blair and I am available for adoption.I am a `small breed` dog.I can be a little shy at first but once I get to know you I am an affectionate lovebug who would be thrilled to cuddle up with you at home!Because of my shy nature, I would do best in a calm, quiet home.I am a gentle and loving dog who likes to take things slow. I may get nervous in new situations, so I am looking for a family who understands that I might take some time to warm up. Once I get to know you, I will be a very devoted friend!

Story
Permanent, Loving Homes Needed for Senior Rescue Dogs Over many years, I have monitored and tried to help this particular group of dogs. These dogs have been loved, responsibly vetted, and cared for throughout their lives, though not in an ideal overall situation. They were in a somewhat hoarding situation… not the typical not cared for at all one, but still applies. They were kept clean and fed and I paid for most of their vet care along the way, but their owner would not surrender them until now. I am finally allowed to find them homes, and cannot provide the level of long-term veterinary care these dogs deserve — including dental work, senior monitoring, and ongoing medical needs, thus, I am seeking permanent, stable homes where their remaining years can be lived with comfort, dignity, and consistency. What I am looking for • A calm, stable home • Someone experienced with senior dogs • Financial ability to provide ongoing veterinary and dental care • A commitment to keep them for life — no rehoming • Patience, kindness, and realistic expectations These dogs are older (aged 8 to 12 years old), and while many are still active, affectionate, and content, they will require the kind of care someone prepared for senior dogs can provide. What I will provide Full transparency about age, temperament, and medical needs Important medical history is known I do not have every vaccine record/etc but they are all spayed/ neutered, microchipped, and current on rabies vaccines Time for proper introductions Careful, thoughtful placement — this will not be rushed I am open to placing individual dogs or compatible pairs, and I will work closely with the right people to ensure a good match. If you are genuinely experienced with senior dogs and are prepared — financially and emotionally— to care for one for the rest of their life, please reach out by private message and tell me about yourself, your home, and your experience. These dogs deserve peace, safety, and love for the remainder of their lives. Thank you for reading with compassion. Hi, we're Misty and Lulu, real sisters (in the Seattle area) with hearts full of love. We can be adopted together or separate. We're sweet, friendly, and mellow. At 9 and 20 lbs, we're a perfectly bonded pair, if you are open to 2, but also do fine separately. We are fully vetted and ready to find a forever home where we can share our loyalty and love. We promise to fill your home with warmth and companionship. Consider making us a part of your family; we're just waiting to love and be loved in return. Note: when proof of dental is sent, the adoption fee will be returned to the adopter. We are DESPERATE for a home of our own. We are about 8 years old. Despite our different looks, we are true sisters from the same purebred shih tzu mommy dog. We are 2 of the best pups there too (we don't just say that, our fosters tell us so as well). They say we are absolutely too sweet and wonderful to be stuck without a home of our own. We do great with kids, cats, and other dogs... as long as the other dogs are not bossy or mean to us. We do pretty good not pottying in the house as long as we are kept on a regular schedule going outside. We are super sweet natured. We love to see what you are doing and just be near you whatever that is. We are not super high energy, so no need to do any dramatic things with us activity wise. We just love attention and cuddles! We need to be monitored when fed so Lulu doesn't eat all of the food... she tends to like it the most and steals mine when she can. I know we aren't young puppies anymore, but please give us a chance. Our rescue has a trial designed for you... so that you can be sure we are a good fit with your situation. Our vetting up to date (spay, heartworm free and on preventative, rabies, microchip, other vaccines up to date), with the exception of our dentals that need updated. We had our last dental about 3 years ago. I (Misty) have an old eye injury that I have had since a puppy. It does not bother me I am so used to not seeing too well out of that eye.

Story
Zaina is 4 years old, super loving and needs attention. She barks a little but it’s either because she needs attention or has to go outside to go potty. She is not aggressive at all. She is kennel trained and loves to be in her kennel, but we leave her free throughout the house. She hates baths but we take her to the groomers and she has gotten so better since then

Story
Meet Chocolate! Chocolate, Choco for short,  is a spunky and loving little dude that is looking for his forever home.  He weighs about 18# and is considered a small breed dog.  He was neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.  Choco is currently living in a foster home with a big female lab that is 5x my size, but he is not intimidated at all.  In fact, they are becoming pals and sharing toys.   Choco is full of energy and loves to play, but tends to calm down if those around him stay calm.   He is very affectionate and loves attention. He understands what “No” means, and if he hears that word, he stops what he is doing and comes back to the boss’s side of the chair for a little pat of appreciation.   Come, Sit, Stay, Outside, and This Way are all commands that his foster dad has been teaching  he is starting to understand what those mean.  He is just a little inexperienced in the ways of the world and it will take some work for him to become the best dog he can be. Choco does not like being alone and this needs work. He needs to be safely crated when he is alone or he will find things to chew on - socks, shoes etc. Choco is also an escape artist and needs a fully fenced secure yard.  He is being crate trained and is doing well but needs more work.  He sleeps in his crate at night.  His potty training is going well too.  Choco is extremely food and treat motivated, and will do anything for a treat. He is no couch potato and needs an active person or family who will take him on lots of adventures.  He loves going for walks and is still working on walking skills - walking in a straight line can be hard... Choco will do best in a home with another playful dog, a secure yard and kids over 10.  Choco is neutered, vaccinated and chipped. His adoption fee is $450. We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! To expedite to meet with this dog, please go to our site at www.savinggreatanimals.org and fill out an application. We look at the first applications to arrive, so we hope to hear from you soon! Story
Bouffant is a 2 year old Shih Tzu. She’s a bit shy around other animals (cats and dogs) but not aggressive. She is still opening up a bit, but only time will tell. She has experience around other small dogs, but not around big dogs or high energy dogs. She likes to be carried around and snuggle on laps. She is not timid or aggressive. She sleeps in the bed. She has a play pen but she escaped by climbing the side so that does not work. “ So far pretty good with potty time as long as she goes outside a lot. She does not like the rain much. She is nervous around the cats and dogs a bit but may warm up with time. She does not like it when other dogs are barking. She is sweet and gentle and not all that playful yet. She probably just needs some time to come out of her shell as time goes on. -----

A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters:
Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means:

✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment.

✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing).

✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed.

The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like.

Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are.

Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type.
