Thank You for your cooperation*** Please read listings fully to the end before applying for one of our beloved rescues. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS. Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog. We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes around WA state & Oregon but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA. Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Zelle, PayPal, if using PayPal the potential adopter will have to pay the fees & charges with PayPal. This boy is a special boy, he is so loving & devoted to you. Soul destroying to think of what he has been through & yet he still loves human beings even after everything they have done to him. We cannot even begin to imagine what Miles witnessed & heard when he was at the slaughterhouse, how Miles ended up in a slaughterhouse for human consumption & yes you did read that correctly, we will never know? What we do know is, he was pulled out of there by our outstanding Chinese rescuer just in time. It’s absolutely soul destroying to think about the horrific situation he ended up in. Working with one of our truly devoted, dedicated & absolutely outstanding Chinese rescuers she rescued Miles & many others for us. Without this beloved rescuer going in & getting Miles out, his fate was a torturous death. She transferred Miles to her own rescue & covid had hit & the waiting began. Along with Miles & many other sweet souls she got well & they waited to come to the US. This became a very extremely expensive situation with covid. We were finally able to bring everyone back through cargo which is an astronomical expense per dog, but we believe every sweet soul such as Miles & his & friends deserves to be loved & cherished & given the chance to have a wonderful life. Now Miles is looking for a special family to cherish him & be patient with him & remember what this beautiful soul has been through & a family that meets all his needs. Miles was rescued by our truly amazing Chinese rescue friends & just as always we are beyond grateful to the Chinese rescue who we are so extremely thankful for what they do day in & day out for these babies, we cannot thank them enough. Miles was bought back to the USA where he is now a US citizen & is so happy to be here & can’t wait to find his new loving devoted forever home. Talk about melt your heart & love you to pieces, that’s Miles his foster family said. He is the sweetest boy who looks at you with such gratitude & just wants to be your everything. Wherever you are, he wants to be. His foster family said he will want to sleep in bed with you & will snuggle up with the other dogs too. He does eat clean in his foster home, meaning, grains, fruits, vegetables, proteins & supplements. He is also great about wearing outfits & being amenable to all situations. He adores being hugged & held because the reality is we are the first real people in his life to show him such true love & affection. He also is very loyal. Miles has been taught to walk on a harness & leash since being in the rescue & in his foster home & considering we believe we are the first people to teach him how to go on walks, he is a wonderful walker. Miles is a rescue & will need patience, time & understanding. Miles adores being pampered & doesn’t want you to stop when brushing his, cleaning his eyes, grooming he, he loves it all. He does well with his baths & is so good with the hairdryer. He also does extremely well being touched in general & adores receiving love. Having toys & a warm bed is all new to Miles & we have been excited to change his world with the introduction of toys & lots of love & affection & a loving environment. He likes laying on you when he is with you or on comfy blankets. Miles has learnt to ride in the car & does well in the car & enjoys a good car ride. He is such an amazing, loving little lad. He just sits back & enjoys the journey. With Miles we are only looking for a crate free home for this lovely little lad only. We are also looking for a forever home for Miles where someone is home during the day or he can go with his people wherever possibly he can go with them. Miles is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved & be very patient with him & understanding. Miles has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & he is currently with other dogs & enjoys their company but could go to a forever home as the only dog. A fully fenced backyard is mandatory for Miles new forever home. Meaning he can live in a condo or apartment. Miles is now roughly 9 lbs & is 9 years old & a shi tzu & what he is mixed with we are not sure? He is neutered & male. He had a dental/scale & polish along with dental x-rays. He 2 teeth removed, 1 molar & 1 premolar. He has a grade 4 out of 6 heart murmur. He was treated for dermatitis with antibiotics. He had a neurological event & was walking into walls, lost weight & his fur & the vet suggested he be pts. But we would not do that & he made a full recovery. Miles has cataracts & some days they are there & some days not. He is microchipped, up to date on his shots including DHLPP, Bordatella, rabies & dewormed. We have spent far more on Miles with bringing him to the US with his travel airfare costs, without anything else then on top of that paying for his medical care & boarding fees, including a dental/scale & polish, shots, microchip etc, than his adoption fee comes close to covering. Miles has not been around cats since being in the rescue but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals. We have have not had Miles with small children so we do not recommend children, but it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & animals. We were not there when Miles was conceived so we do not know who his parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is. As with all of our rescues & Miles friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Miles potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Miles & going through our process and have read his listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit using Webex due to covid & followed by a meet and greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Miles who understands his needs & that meet all the requirements for this lovely sweet boy. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Miles has an adoption fee of $795 & is ready for his truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what he has been through.

Meet Einstein!Einstein is an adorable 8-year-old, 12-pound Shih Tzu with a heart full of love. Found wandering as a stray, this sweet boy got a fresh grooming, a dental, and had a few lumps removed—and he’s feeling so much better! Einstein may be hard of hearing or deaf, but it doesn’t slow him down. He’s incredibly sweet, great with other dogs and all people, and has a gentle, affectionate nature. Einstein is a good eater, loves following his person around, and would be thrilled to snuggle in bed with you. He’s also doing well with house training. Einstein is ready to bring love and companionship to a lucky forever home!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.May 5, 2025, 11:29 am

Story
Our Daphne is a fun mixed pup - Daphne had a DNA test and is over 50% Shihtzu and Pomeranian, with an exotic mix of Pug, Pekinese and Min Pinscher! All to say she is 100% adorable! She has come a long way from the fearful dog that arrived in our care - But we know that the BEST things in LIFE are worth waiting for - like this amazing girl! Overcoming darkness and fear...Daphne is a true survivor. Abandoned for days in a filthy crate in the Auburn area, she came to us with deep emotional scars and fear of trusting humans. Over time with patience and freedom from fear Daphne has truly blossomed into a loving, faithful and joyous member of her foster's household. This affectionate little lady is not only great on a leash but also loves to play fetch! She loves to ride in the car and grab a puppacino on the way! Daphne will be adopted to ADULT ONLY homes - due to how she was treated in the past - this is non negotiable. Preference will be for Daphne to go to a home with a fenced yard. Daphne is Spayed, had a complete Dental, along with Microchip and updated vaccinations, she is 100% healthy and ready for her forever home!!

Story
Meet Laurent – an incredibly smart, sweet, and outgoing pup who’s ready to bring joy to his forever family! From the moment he arrived at his foster home, Laurent impressed everyone by learning to use the potty pad on his very first day. He’s a fast learner with a gentle, fun-loving personality. Laurent loves to play with other dogs and is often the one to initiate playtime with his foster brother, Watson. He rarely barks—only to announce when he’s pooping! He sleeps well through the night, usually near his crate, and has a calm, easygoing nature that makes him a joy to have around. Laurent is food motivated, good with children, travels well in the car, and is eager to please. He listens when told to settle or “go to crate,” and transitions quickly from excitement to calm. He’s the kind of dog that adapts easily and would thrive either with a canine sibling or as a solo pup soaking up all the love. This brilliant little boy is truly one-of-a-kind and will make a wonderful addition to any home! ----- Thank you for your interest in adopting a dog from Little Dog Rescue. Our dogs come from a variety of sources and backgrounds. They are all in need of adopters that have patience, an understanding of where these dogs have come from, and that there will be an adjustment time when they transition into their forever home. This can include learning basic commands, walking on leash and potty training. Some dogs will pick up on your routine and expectations faster than others. Potty accidents will happen. We find that positive reinforcement, consistency, and routine from the adopter achieves the best results. We are a small, all volunteers team and give 100% of our efforts towards doing right by these pups. We are often juggling many responsibilities at the same time and do our very best to process inquiries and applications in a timely manner. We do prioritize inquiries that have a submitted application on file through the Little Dog Rescue website. We do our best to accurately assign breed designations, however we are unable to guarantee 100% accuracy. Sometimes we only have the dogs appearance to go on. Our adoption fees are thoughtfully considered. The adoption fee is not a purchase price for the dog. It is a fee that is designed to support the overall work of our rescue. Highly desirable dogs and puppies are intentionally listed with a higher adoption fee. This is done to help offset the enormous medical expenses we incur when taking in older pups and special needs medical dogs whose adoption fees do not come close to covering their expenses. In addition, the vast majority of our dogs are brought in from out of state and incur transport fees along with their medical and acquisition costs. We ask that you take all of these things into consideration, and we look forward to finding a great match for your family.
