Story
Meet Phoenix! Phoenix may be 10 years old, but he still has so much love left to give. This sweet little Shih Tzu has experienced more loss than any dog should. After his original owner moved into a nursing home and later passed away, Phoenix was lovingly cared for by another woman until she, too, passed away. Through no fault of his own, he's now searching for one final forever home where he can spend his golden years surrounded by love and stability. Phoenix is currently in New Mexico, where he has been lovingly cared for by his longtime groomer—the same person who has helped keep him looking and feeling his best for years. Soon, he'll be making the journey to the Pacific Northwest, where he'll settle into a foster home while he waits for his pawfect forever family. His foster describes him as an easygoing, gentle companion who enjoys being around people and other pets. Like many Shih Tzus, Phoenix has bowed front legs, which can lead to arthritis as they age. He does well with daily Rimadyl (carprofen) to keep him comfortable and enjoying life. Despite this, he still gets around well and loves being part of the family. Phoenix is doggy door trained and generally has good house manners. He may occasionally have a urinary accident, but he does not have accidents with bowel movements. He has lived with both dogs and cats throughout his life and is currently doing well with multiple dogs. He's generally respectful of cats, although every now and then he'll get a playful burst of energy and decide to give one a chase. Phoenix would thrive in a calm home with older, respectful children who understand that senior dogs appreciate a quieter lifestyle. He gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and would happily share his home with canine friends—or soak up all the attention as your one and only. Phoenix has already had to say goodbye to the people he loved twice. Now he's simply hoping for a family that will love him for the rest of his days. If you're looking for a loyal, gentle companion who just wants a soft bed, a caring heart, and a place to belong, Phoenix is waiting to meet you. Phoenix is: 10-year-old Shih Tzu Neutered Good with dogs Good with cats (with the occasional playful chase!) Doggy door trained Best with calm, older children Takes daily Rimadyl/Carprofen for arthritis management Arriving soon to the Pacific Northwest and will be available in a foster home while he waits for his forever family Ready to spend his golden years in the loving home he deserves   Adoption Fee $300 www.norrthwestwagrescue.org ##2803519##

Story
Meet Sammy! He and his brother Mochi came to us from Yakima at only 5 weeks old. Both boys are thriving, curious, and so playful! They sleep all night and are doing exceptionally well at going potty outside. Mo is slightly more sassy and Sam loves to cuddle, but both will be the best family pets. They have met cats and elementary aged children with great success, and they love to play with the resident dogs in their foster home. Their great passions are eating and wrestling, then passing out for a long nap. These pups will be ready to head off to their future homes at 8 weeks old. They are tiny - less than 2lb each, so will stay small as adults. Puppies this small need lots of structure and socialization to become happy and confident dogs. The pups have received their first round of vaccines, dewormer and microchips. They will be neutered as part of their adoption contract between 6-10 months of age - this is not optional. Their adoption fee is $525. We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! To expedite to meet with this dog, please go to our site at www.savinggreatanimals.org and fill out an application. We look at the first applications to arrive, so we hope to hear from you soon! Story
Meet Bubble – A Sweet, Gentle Companion Looking for Her Forever Home * CURRENTLY IN VANCOUVER!!! Bubble is a 3-year-old spayed Shih Tzu/Maltese mix who was rescued from a heartbreaking 230-dog hoarding situation. Despite her difficult past, she has an incredibly gentle, affectionate personality and is ready to experience the love and security of a forever family.   About Bubble   Age: 3 years Breed: Shih Tzu / Maltese Mix Sex: Spayed Female Weight: 5.3 kg (11.7 lbs) Height: 35 cm (shoulder height)   Loves People   Bubble is a very affectionate little girl who enjoys meeting both familiar people and strangers. She happily approaches people for pets and attention, including men. She can easily be picked up, and once she feels comfortable, she’ll even roll over for belly rubs.   Dog Social   Bubble is polite and friendly when meeting new dogs, although she prefers forming close friendships with just one or two companions rather than playing with every dog she meets.   She generally gets along well with larger dogs. During initial introductions, she may occasionally try to boss around smaller or more timid dogs, but she quickly backs down when corrected by a confident dog. Slow, supervised introductions help set everyone up for success.   Cats   Bubble has not been tested with cats.   Energy Level   Bubble has a low energy level and enjoys a calm lifestyle. She loves relaxing, taking naps, and simply being close to her people.   Walks   She walks beautifully on leash without pulling and naturally stays close to her handler.   Home Life   Bubble is house-trained for both indoor pee pads and outdoor potty.   She does not guard food from people or other dogs and is generally a very quiet dog who rarely barks.   Like many dogs rescued from hoarding situations, Bubble can become anxious when left alone and may vocalize at first. The good news is that she has already been making wonderful progress as she settles into a routine and gains confidence.   Bubble also finds comfort in having a calm canine companion. While another friendly dog in the home is not required, it may help her feel more secure during the transition into her new life.   She also isn’t a fan of being crated, so a family willing to give her time and patience while she adjusts would be the best fit.   Bubble’s Ideal Home   Bubble would thrive with a family that appreciates a calm, affectionate companion and understands that rescued dogs sometimes need a little time to fully settle into a new environment.   With patience, consistency, and lots of love, Bubble will reward her family with endless affection and loyal companionship. She has already come so far, and now she’s simply waiting for someone to show her what it truly means to be home.   If you think Bubble could be the perfect addition to your family, we’d love to hear from you!
