Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Give a warm welcome to Chewy! He is a 9-year-old, 17 LB Shih-Tzu mix who came to us from an overcrowded shelter in CA in hopes of finding his forever home here in WA. Chewy is a very sweet, loving, and CHILL dude. He has gotten along well with other dogs in our care as well as all people he has met. Chewy has a quiet confidence to him which makes him great company for little adventures around town and meeting new friends. He would do fine as an additional dog in a home but wouldn’t mind being spoiled as the only king in the castle. Chewy is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $400.

Story
Meet Laurent – an incredibly smart, sweet, and outgoing pup who’s ready to bring joy to his forever family! From the moment he arrived at his foster home, Laurent impressed everyone by learning to use the potty pad on his very first day. He’s a fast learner with a gentle, fun-loving personality. Laurent loves to play with other dogs and is often the one to initiate playtime with his foster brother, Watson. He rarely barks—only to announce when he’s pooping! He sleeps well through the night, usually near his crate, and has a calm, easygoing nature that makes him a joy to have around. Laurent is food motivated, good with children, travels well in the car, and is eager to please. He listens when told to settle or “go to crate,” and transitions quickly from excitement to calm. He’s the kind of dog that adapts easily and would thrive either with a canine sibling or as a solo pup soaking up all the love. This brilliant little boy is truly one-of-a-kind and will make a wonderful addition to any home! ----- Thank you for your interest in adopting a dog from Little Dog Rescue. Our dogs come from a variety of sources and backgrounds. They are all in need of adopters that have patience, an understanding of where these dogs have come from, and that there will be an adjustment time when they transition into their forever home. This can include learning basic commands, walking on leash and potty training. Some dogs will pick up on your routine and expectations faster than others. Potty accidents will happen. We find that positive reinforcement, consistency, and routine from the adopter achieves the best results. We are a small, all volunteers team and give 100% of our efforts towards doing right by these pups. We are often juggling many responsibilities at the same time and do our very best to process inquiries and applications in a timely manner. We do prioritize inquiries that have a submitted application on file through the Little Dog Rescue website. We do our best to accurately assign breed designations, however we are unable to guarantee 100% accuracy. Sometimes we only have the dogs appearance to go on. Our adoption fees are thoughtfully considered. The adoption fee is not a purchase price for the dog. It is a fee that is designed to support the overall work of our rescue. Highly desirable dogs and puppies are intentionally listed with a higher adoption fee. This is done to help offset the enormous medical expenses we incur when taking in older pups and special needs medical dogs whose adoption fees do not come close to covering their expenses. In addition, the vast majority of our dogs are brought in from out of state and incur transport fees along with their medical and acquisition costs. We ask that you take all of these things into consideration, and we look forward to finding a great match for your family.

Story
Esterline (affectionately called "Esther for short") is one of those once-in-a-lifetime kind of dogs – the kind that brings joy into every room just by being in it. Happy 24/7 and full of life, you'd never guess she came from a tough past. From the moment she arrived, she adjusted immediately and has acted like she’s always been home. She has the heart of a puppy and the soul of a best friend. Esther is playful and hilarious – her zoomies are truly a sight to behold – but she's just as happy cuddled up next to her person. She sleeps soundly through the night, follows her foster mom everywhere, and her tail truly never stops wagging. She’s incredibly smart, quick to learn, and adores car rides. Amazingly, she rarely ever barks – she once barked at a toy, but that’s about it! This sweet girl is also wonderfully cat-friendly and gets along great with her feline foster sibling. She would thrive in a home where her people are around often, as she bonds deeply and loves being close. The one area where Esther is still a work in progress is potty training. It seems she may have lived in a crate or an environment without a regular potty routine. She’s learning quickly and now reliably uses pee pads, and she consistently poops in the same indoor spot (though hasn’t yet mastered doing so outside). With continued routine and encouragement, she’ll get there – she’s already come a long way. Esther is pure joy in a tiny body, and she’s ready to bring her sunshine to a family that will love her as deeply as she’ll love them. If you’re looking for a silly, snuggly, loyal companion, Esther is the one.

Story
Meet Brando! Brando is a sweet and affectionate pup who quickly bonds with his people and showers everyone—kids and adults alike—with love. He’s a big fan of walks and gets so excited when he sees his leash come out! Brando has a playful side too—he adores his lamb toy and tennis balls. He sleeps soundly in his crate through the night without a peep. While he’s still working on his separation anxiety, he’s making great progress with basic obedience and already knows how to sit! He’s currently learning to ring a bell to go potty and mastering “stay.” Brando will thrive with someone who can continue his training and give him the companionship he craves.
