Story
Winter and her pups were found near a ball field. She was microchipped to a breeder, but the chip was never registered. In hopes of finding her owners, all resources were exhausted, and she was on stray hold for an extended period of time before she was taken into the LHS adoption program.  Winter is now spayed has taken the pledge 'NO MORE PUPPIES!' and fully vaccinated. She tested positive for heartworms and received a ProHeart12 injection, which is the slow kill treatment that's easier on the dog with fewer health risks and doesn't require activity restrictions.  Update from foster mom that is caring for Winter aka Winnie... Winnie is a very sweet, friendly and calm girl. Winnie knows a handful of commands sit, down, no, come here and out (when you want her back out of a room). She is a fast learner and knew her name in one week. She is a pro at nudging your hand to get you to pet her. She is definitely a morning dog and so happy in the morning. Mealtime in AM is her favorite time and will graze all day. Winnie has good energy for walks and playing in the yard. She will chase a ball but only leaves it in the yard about halfway back to her human. Winnie may do better with larger dogs; Winnie gets in her kennel on command when I leave for work. Crate and house trained.  She also sleeps on her bed at night next to her foster mom. Rarely will she jump on furniture without being invited. Winnie does well with grooming. If Winnie is the girl for you, please fill out an app and the foster mom will be in touch within 48 hours if you are a good match for Winnie. Age: Aprox 3 years old. Adoption fee is $275.00 Winter weighs 58.2 as of July 6th. Complete an online application at: Adoption Application - Legacy Humane SocietyWe do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. I might be a little timid at first, but give me some time and you'll see my gentle soul shine through. I enjoy quiet afternoons, with just the soft hum of life around me. I'm not one for the rambunctious, but I do have a soft spot for a mellow game of fetch. I'm not the type to jump at every noise, or bark at every passing car. I prefer the simpler things, like a warm spot in the sun or a soft pat on the head. I may be shy, but I have so much love to give. I'm just waiting for the right person to share it with. I promise, if you give me a chance, I'll be the most loyal, loving companion you could ever ask for.July 24, 2024, 3:08 pm

Story
Once upon a time, in the far away land of Texas, there lived an adorable pup named Tanner, whose lonely life was suddenly changed with a last-minute rescue by the loving Doodle Dandy fairies. The fairies are determined to find Tanner his own happily-ever-after. Tanner is a very special pup and is looking for someone who understands that his heart and his ability to love far exceed his size, which is saying something. While he has a big bark, Tanner is very smart, learns quickly, and most importantly, wants to please. He is a social butterfly that loves to greet all kinds of people, though he doesn't love other dogs. He’s not dog aggressive, he just has a strong preference for people. Speaking of that big bark and big brain, Tanner will try to use both to fool you into thinking he’s not crate trained when in fact he is. If you can just ignore his fake protest barks when you first put him in a crate, after a few minutes he settles down and is perfectly content. The ideal home for Tanner would be one with an experienced dog owner committed to continued training and willing to maintain boundaries. He wants to be the only dog in a home where he can get all of the cuddles, snacks and brushing - Tanner loves being brushed! Tanner wants to be a big part of his owner’s life and enjoys neighborhood walks, hikes and car rides, but he does not enjoy being left alone. He’s fine in his crate for 4-6 hours, but after that he gets lonely. He will also sleep quietly overnight in his crate, but if you leave him out he will sneak into bed with you in the middle of the night—which is pretty subtle for a pup of his size. Tanner would like a yard for his games of fetch and for zoomies. However, he’s not a speed demon; his zoomies are the slower, lumbering kind. He would also be in heaven if he could play in a personal digging pit. The Doodle Dandy fairies are searching for that special family Tanner can join as a loving companion for life. Tanner’s adoption fee is $600. He’s HW negative, current on all HW/Flea preventatives, neutered, and microchipped. All adoption fees go toward expenses so the magical Doodle Dandy fairies can cover medical and food costs for other deserving Doodle Dandy Dogs, making it possible to continue the magic by giving amazing pups like Tanner a second chance. If you would like to fill out an application and you are within a 5-hour radius of the DFW area, please click here and fill out an application: https://www.doodledandyrescue.org/all-adoptable-doodles/tanner

Story
Meet Louie II, the lovable 75 lb. Golden Doodle with a heart as golden as his breed! This playful pooch, aged 5, is a bundle of joy who adores playing fetch with his favorite 'chuck it' toy. Despite battling allergies, which are managed with special 'itching chews' and seasonal medication, Louie maintains a sunny disposition and sports a shiny coat thanks to regular baths with ketoconazole shampoo. He's up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped, ensuring he's healthy and safe. Louie is an energetic companion who thrives on outdoor adventures and playtime. His favorite activities include romping with sticks and engaging in fetch marathons. He's great with children, having happily coexisted with two toddlers. Louie's gentle nature extends to other pups making for easy socialization opportunities. He benefits from regular exercise and enjoys an open space where he can stretch his legs. Louie is both house and crate-trained, understanding the importance of both spaces in his daily routine. He's also leash-trained, making walks a breeze. This smart pup knows commands like sit, stand, shake, lie down, and speak, showcasing his intelligence and eagerness to please. His love for cuddling shines through as he happily snuggles up after a day of play. Louie is not just a dog, he's a cherished family member looking for his forever home where he can continue spreading joy and receiving love in return.
