Story
**SENIOR** Huck is an older gentleman who despite his age, is spry and strong. He loves to walk and sniff and he is very intereted in his surroundings. He is easy going and adaptable, always in a happy mood - especially when he gets to go for a sniffy walk. Huck is a sweetheart and a good soul who was one of the shelters favorites. A good boy who loves to please, Huck will make a great companion for an individual or a family. He loves to romp around a yard or walk on leash, and afterward, he loves to relax and nap in comfort in his crate, on the floor, or on a sofa.  Huck loves belly rubs and ear scratches, he is a dog who wants to connect with people, and he is an older guy who will appreciate the comforts of a warm home and a soft touch. Will you be the person who gives that gift to this deserving guy!? ##2338378##

Story
Good with: Dogs Not tested with: kids House trained: Mostly with an occasional accident Energy level: Low Noise level: Super quiet My foster guardian says: My favorite thing about Tovah (Karen) is how sweet and gentle she is! Likes: walks, napping, eating cheese, looking at herself in the mirror I know what youre thinking. Karen? Really?! Yes, technically, that was once my name at the shelter, but my foster (and everybody else!) calls me Tovah! Tovah means good and thats the best word to describe me! I am the goodest girl to ever good! My foster says that shes never met a more well-behaved, laid-back pup! I had a rough start to life, and thats left me a little unsure about trusting people. Im starting to learn that people give pets and snuggles, and treats, and that its okay to be myself around them! Im coming out of my shell more and more everyday! When I first moved to D.C., I was pretty nervous, but now I wag my tail lots, and am even starting to play with toys! Im especially at ease when Im hanging out with one of my doggy friends. I love to play and cuddle and run and chase with all my puppy BFFs! Id love to have another dog friend in my future home, though Im okay being an only child too! My foster would like to say that for as much as I might look perpetually worried and a bit depressed, its not true! Its just my big hound dog eyes! Im actually a happy girl overall, and Im amazingly confident and calm, considering everything Ive been through. Even though I havent lived in the city long, Ive already mostly adjusted to the noise and bustle. As long as Im walking right next to my foster, I trust that Ill be safe! Ive also adapted to living in an apartment really easily. Automatic doors and elevators dont phase me! Now, rumors have been flying that I dont know any commands and may not be the brightest bulb on the tree. Ahem. Im street smart, not book smart! I may not know any flashy tricks, but Im super well trained! I pick up on routines really quickly, and Im also great with directions! I know exactly how to get back to our house when were out on a walk, and I know what door to stop at when we visit friends in their apartment. I stop at streetlights, Im amazing in my crate, I never bark inside the house, and I dont jump, or counter surf, or chew. I also get along with every other dog Ive met! In addition to being so super easy to take care of, I also have a couple of pretty funny quirks. One of them is that I love to look in the mirror! I will spend hours gazing at my reflection, and pondering my beauty and existence. When Im not preening, I enjoy walks of any distance, and Ill tag along on car rides and hiking adventures too! Im also a great patio buddy. I love sitting under the table while my foster is getting food or drinks with friends. Whenever I lay down, I make sure to politely cross my paws. Could I be cuter?? I would be the perfect puppy for someone who works in an office, because Im totally content to spend 9-10 hours at a time sleeping in my crate. Its cozy and secure in there, and I have my blankets and my toys and my bully sticks, so what more could I want? Im as quiet as a mouse overnight in my crate too! If you want a dog who will let you sleep in, Im your girl! Ill also add that if youre looking for a champion couch cuddler, I can check that box too! See, Im not so much of Karen, right? If I do say so myself, Id be a catch for any family! If youre looking for the most gentle, loyal, loving pup, Im your girl! Im really looking forward to finding my forever family, so apply to adopt me today! (*Please note that the specific event pages are typically updated on Fridays with information on which dogs will be attending each event.*) You know the saying, "A penny for your thoughts"? Well, once you meet sweet Penny, she'll be the only thing on your mind! A recent mama, this lovely tricolor hound mix is 7 years young and has a calm and friendly demeanor. She's always ready to make new friends, whether human or canine. As for cats, we’re unsure if she sees them as friends or foes. Penny is the perfect balance of calm, cuddly, confidence, and independence. At seven years old, this sweet gal has experienced a lot, but she still enjoys roaming around outside and making new friends. Although she may be slow-going at times, Penny is still such a sweet pup. Penny loves to go on walks, and her leash manners are impeccable. She doesn’t seem to know any basic commands, but she’s a pro at “hounding,” taking her time to stop and sniff out every new scent she encounters—there’s always something exciting to discover in her eyes (and nose)! And, of course, like a true hound, she hasn’t met a treat she didn’t like. If you’re looking for an older laid-back gal with a calming presence who’ll be a loyal and loving companion, pretty Penny just might be the perfect match for you!

Story
Alvin wants you to know that his name is British and means 'noble friend'! And that is a very appropriate name for him for he is friendly to everyone he meets. He is a small and quiet hound (very little barking in the kennel) who likes the company of people. He likes other dogs too! He is not in a foster home yet but he is very clean in his kennel so we think he may be housetrained. If you are interested in Alvin please let us know. Thank you for your interest in Alvin! Please visit www.hart90.org/petdetail.aspx?ID=18397 to get the most up-to-date and accurate information on this pet, to email the contact person listed for more information and how to meet Alvin, or to submit an online application. HART adopts to the local DC/VA/MD metro area only. Visit our website for more information about our adoption process.
