Story
*** Courtesy Post *** Geneva is a great lady who makes herself at home inside. She will settle into her couch and stay there curled up in a hound ball or stretched out like a snoozing pig for hours at a time. This sedentary side of Geneva's character belies her true passion, which is to be active outside in the company of her person. She generally does not like to be left alone outside (unless she has caught the scent of something); rather she bonds with her people through adventure - be it exploratory neighborhood walks, rampages at the local park chasing squirrels, ogling guinea pigs at PetSmart, or barking (and splashing) up a storm at the doggy beach. She is very comfortable getting in and out of cars, going to the vet, having her nails clipped (food is always a helpful incentive), and getting her teeth brushed.  While mild-mannered, Geneva barks when approached in close proximity by other dogs and generally does not enjoy their company (unless it's the doggy beach). Otherwise, Geneva does not seek out other dogs or pay them much mind. We have observed her bonding with some dogs, but it takes her time. For that reason, it is probably best that she is the only dog in the house or is introduced slowly. Geneva is very easygoing and trusting around older children, teens, and adults, but small children make her anxious (which is the only reason why we're rehoming her), so it would be best if she was placed in a home either without children or with children older than five. As a purebred coonhound, Geneva has a profound prey drive. Fortunately, she is very good at learning rules and can be trained where it is and is not permissible to bark. That being said, she would not be a good fit for a family with caged pets or cats. When you meet Geneva, you are immediately drawn to her gentle disposition, endearing soft ears that fan out with curiosity, and perceptive brown eyes. Do not be fooled by her age - Geneva is incredibly youthful and vivacious (When first adopted, someone asked how old she was and I told them she was seven. They clarified, "Seven months?"). She still loves to play chase in the backyard with her people, gnaws on toys when excited, and never tires of action. Geneva is wicked smart and easily picks up rules, hand gestures, tone, and routines (She knows that when I close my laptop at 4:30 and turn off my office lamp that it's time for dinner, so she preemptively runs to the kitchen.) She is not a licker or a "velcro dog," but Geneva appreciates quiet companionship and will be instant best friends with any one who engages her in play, takes her on a car ride, or runs around the park with her. Her goofy indignance and unwavering self-confidence have made her an endless source of entertainment. To know her is to love her (and laugh). Medical Note: Geneva has a thyroid condition that is easily managed with an inexpensive, twice-daily pill. She takes it with her meals, sometimes dipped in a smidge of peanut butter. Geneva is a courtesy post. If you would like to learn more about her, please email: adoptgeneva25@gmail.com. ##2603967##

Story
If you are looking for a loyal outdoor companion with a heart of gold, say hello to Kahlua—an 8-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound mix who defines “good ole’ boy” in the best possible way. Around 60 pounds of love and sweetness, Kahlua lives for sunshine, breezes, rustling leaves, and long, thoughtful walks. He’s the kind of dog who doesn’t rush through life—he notices everything, appreciates the little things, and reminds you to slow down and enjoy the moment. Kahlua has impeccable manners. Need to tie your shoe? He’ll stop and wait. Collar slips off? He’ll walk right over so you can fix it. He listens beautifully and truly wants to please his person. He also has a fun side—he loves squeaky toys, playing fetch (sharing the ball is a work in progress!), giving kisses, and being tucked in under cozy blankets like the pampered hound he is.  This boy is also a lake and boat enthusiast—a true water bug who will happily join you for every lakeside adventure. He grew up with other dogs and prefers being the “big guy,” doing well with respectful smaller dogs or calmer companions. Solo walks? He’s relaxed and steady. With bigger, energetic dogs? He may pull a bit in excitement. Kahlua loves kids who treat him kindly and is friendly toward cats, even though he didn’t share a home with them before. Above all else, Kahlua is drawn to people who make him feel loved—give him attention and he’ll give you his whole heart. He does get springtime seasonal allergies, so starting Apoquel in February or early March keeps him feeling his best. It’s a simple bit of care for a dog who gives so much sweetness in return. Kahlua’s former mama adored him deeply but faced life changes that made caring for him impossible. Now he’s ready for a forever home where he can spend his years surrounded by stability, love, comfort, and a family who appreciates everything he has to offer. Kahlua is ready to be someone’s best friend. If you want a loyal companion with an old soul and endless love to share, come meet this wonderful boy.  Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested in giving this boy the years of his life as your best sidekick ever   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJanuary 12, 2026, 9:57 am

Story
We first took Geneva in as a foster in July 2023 when she was 7-years-old and loved her sweet demeanor so much that we adopted her the following month. At the time we adopted her, Geneva was hugely overweight and suffering from an unmedicated thyroid problem. We succeeded in getting Geneva back on her medication and down to a healthy weight (~55lbs), true to her breed standard. Her thyroid condition is easily managed with an inexpensive, twice-daily pill. Geneva is adaptable, trusting, sharp as anything, and loves adventures - especially car rides, park romps, trips to PetSmart to ogle the guinea pigs, and endless hikes. Despite her seemingly sedentary nature inside, she would always prefer to be outside (with company). Geneva would be best placed in a home without small children (older children and teens OK) and without other pets, although we have observed her bonding with some smaller dogs.

Story
I'm Tilly! Two years old and 55 pounds, 23 inches of knee-high perfection. I’m stocky like a beagle but I don’t howl, and I am sprinkled with the most gorgeous multicolored spots, and yes… I’ve been told I’m simply beautiful. I humbly agree. 😉 Toys are my love language. Especially squeaky ones. Give me a basket and I’ll curate my own play session, bouncing from toy to toy like it’s my job. Frozen Kongs? Elite. Chew sticks? Absolutely. Keeping my brain (and jaws) busy makes me very happy. And I am becoming an expert at my new fave - puzzle games! During the day I like to go, go, go - I haven't yet gotten the memo that dogs are supposed to sleep a lot 😀 - but in the afternoons and evenings, I power down like a champ and settle in for cozy naps. And I sleep through the night (outside my crate!) and have had just one oops — and honestly, that was a scheduling mix-up with my foster humans. I’m basically house-trained royalty. And of course given my likely heritage I love to run the yard with my nose in the air, catching scents like the little explorer I am. Adventure is my middle name. I can't use my words so I can't say specifically how I was raised, but all of us at my foster house are pretty sure I was a hunting dog who totally missed out on my puppyhood - so I am soaking up the world with joyful enthusiasm and making up for lost time. I’m still polishing a few skills in my foster home aka finishing school — we think this is my first rodeo with being a family dog, so I am still perfecting my house manners. But I’m getting better every day. I’m smart. I’m eager. I want to learn. I just need someone patient, kind, and ready to guide me. The best part? I absolutely adore my people (hugs and pets are THE BEST), and I am great with other dogs. So if you’re looking for a freckled, fun-sized explorer with a playful heart and a whole lot of love to give, I’m your girl. And remember - life’s just better with spots. 🐾 Tilly is spayed and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $425 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter.
