Meet Pennick, the hound mix described by all who meet her as a sweet and friendly gal that is just so happy and so much fun to be around. She carries herself with a smile and love for life that is infectious. She is most excited to go outside; she loves walking, sniffing, and just being in the great outdoors. While she has done well inside and outside, she prefers to be outside, only needing a little time to adjust to being inside. New experiences can be a bit overwhelming for Pennick, as she is a fan of the investigate slowly method, rather than jumping right in. Once she’s comfortable, she continues being herself, bringing all the joy with her! This pretty girl isn’t just the best dog; she is also a looker! Alvin is fabulous! More than just a beautiful dog, he is housetrained, crate trained, rides well in the car, GREAT with other dogs, and good with the young kids in his foster home. We are not sure what his situation was before, but it does take him a few days to get comfortable in a new home. He will gently sit in a corner and observe quietly. He can be completely trusted and non-destructive. Another dog would help his confidence tremendously. He desperately wants to be loved and everyday he works up a little more courage. Location: Bristow, VA Calling all beagle lovers! Doug may just be your dream dog. Doug is 100% beagle, and we wouldn't have him any other way. He has the personality, charm, goofy playfulness, love of his people, and yes, even the occasional signature beagle yelp. If you know and love beagles, you're going to understand Doug immediately. More than anything, Doug wants to belong. His favorite place is wherever his humans are, and he is perfectly content spending much of his day snoozing beside someone he loves. He is also a champion couch snuggler and, after just a couple of days, warmed up beautifully to the young children in his foster home and began curling up beside them. Doug gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and loves to play. He would do best living with a laid-back dog who has a personality similar to his own. If another dog is too overwhelming or intense, Doug tends to shrink himself and become less confident. With the right canine companion, we think he will happily settle in and be himself. He's also met cats and shown very little interest in them. Doug doesn't need one particular kind of family. He could happily join a family with children and the right dog, or be the beloved sidekick in a quieter, kid-free home. What matters most is having people who want him around, because that's really all this sweet boy wants: to belong. If you've ever said, "I just love beagles," come meet Doug. Meet Emily! 🐾 Emily may have only arrived on Friday, but this smart girl is already learning so much! Her long legs give her a little extra reach, which makes counter and table surfing very tempting. We’re working on teaching her that those are not acceptable ways to score a snack—and she’s catching on! Emily is also learning the joys of being a dog. Our resident pup is showing her what toys are and, more importantly, how much fun it is to play fetch!  She is a quick learner and seems eager to figure things out. She does great in her crate overnight and while we’re away at work. She also understands that potty time happens outside, which is a great start! And food? Emily is definitely a chow hound! 😂 Her love of yummy treats should make training a whole lot easier. With some patience, consistency, and tasty rewards, this girl has so much potential. Emily is off to a fantastic start in her foster home, and we can’t wait to see her continue to blossom! ❤️🐶
