Hi, Im Mary! Im a 4-year-old female Hound, and I have a heart full of love to give. I might be a little shy at first, but once you get to know me, youll see just how sweet and gentle I really am. I have a mellow spirit and a laid-back attitude that makes me the perfect companion for a quiet, cozy evening at home. Ive been called a bit of a cuddle bug, and I promise Im great at snuggling up with you. I get along well with other dogs, and when Im with them, my shyness melts away, and I can be pretty playful too! Ive got a lot of love and loyalty to offer, and Im looking for a forever home where I can continue to grow and be my true, sweet self. If you're looking for a calm and loving friend, I could be the one for you! The nice folks at RDR will update my profile when they learn more about me. I cannot wait to find a forever home where I can share all the love I've got to give. To learn more about Penny, please get in touch with dogs@lostdogrescue.org. Penny will be attending one of our adoption events coming up this weekend! To learn more about our upcoming events and to see which event she will be attending, please visit our event page at https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/. (*Please note that the specific event pages are typically updated on Fridays with information on which dogs will be attending each event.*) You know the saying, "A penny for your thoughts"? Well, once you meet sweet Penny, she'll be the only thing on your mind! A recent mama, this lovely tricolor hound mix is 7 years young and has a calm and friendly demeanor. She's always ready to make new friends, whether human or canine. As for cats, we’re unsure if she sees them as friends or foes. Penny is the perfect balance of calm, cuddly, confidence, and independence. At seven years old, this sweet gal has experienced a lot, but she still enjoys roaming around outside and making new friends. Although she may be slow-going at times, Penny is still such a sweet pup. Penny loves to go on walks, and her leash manners are impeccable. She doesn’t seem to know any basic commands, but she’s a pro at “hounding,” taking her time to stop and sniff out every new scent she encounters—there’s always something exciting to discover in her eyes (and nose)! And, of course, like a true hound, she hasn’t met a treat she didn’t like. If you’re looking for an older laid-back gal with a calming presence who’ll be a loyal and loving companion, pretty Penny just might be the perfect match for you!

Story
**SENIOR**  Huck (aka Huckleberry Hound) is everything a hound should be.  Goofy, sniffy, sweet - he is always happy, and happy to share his day with you.  We think he is 8 years old but aren't sure because he does have a good amount of energy and LOVES going for walks.  He doesn't pull hard (unless a silly squirrel lets him get close) but finds great joy in being out in the woods sniffing all the great smells.  Don't you want a dose of joy in your day? Huck is currently kenneled and we'd love to find out how he does in a home (foster or adopt!).  We think that with a back yard or porch he would love relaxing and watching the world go by.  Huck would love a soft bed to sleep in and a person to give him treats.  He is very food motivated and that will help with his training. A good boy who loves to please, Huck will make a great companion for an individual or a family.   With a loving person who will give him walks, guidance, and affection, he will be a faithful companion and best friend. Huck loves belly rubs and ear scratches, he is a dog who wants to connect with people, and he will appreciate the comforts of a warm home and a soft touch. Will you be the person who gives that gift to this deserving guy!? PAW adopts in the DC, MD, northern VA, and southern PA area only. ##2338378##

Story
Meet Alvin - Your Noble Friend! Alvin's name is British and means 'noble friend'-and it couldn't be more fitting! This sweet, small hound is as friendly as they come, greeting everyone he meets with a wagging tail and gentle charm. Quiet and calm, Alvin rarely barks in his kennel and seems to genuinely enjoy the company of people. He gets along well with other dogs too, making him a wonderful companion all around. While Alvin isn't in a foster home just yet, he keeps his kennel very clean, which suggests he may already be housetrained. If you're looking for a loyal, loving buddy, Alvin might be the perfect match. Reach out to learn more or set up a meet-and-greet-we'd love to introduce you! Thank you for your interest in Alvin! Story
Hello, Im Daisy! Despite my uncertain past, Im friendly, outgoing, and love to spread joy wherever I go! Im full of life and always ready to make new friends. Ive been through a lot, but that hasnt dampened my spirits. Im currently heartworm positive, but the good news is that Im being treated and on my way to feeling much better. Im sweet, affectionate, and would thrive in a loving, stable home where I can finally enjoy the care I deserve. If youre looking for a loyal, cheerful companion, Im the one for you! The nice folks at RDR will update my profile when they learn more about me. I cannot wait to find a forever home where I can share all the love I've got to give. Daisy tested positive for heartworm and will need to undergo treatment once they arrive in the DMV, either while in foster or once they are with their adopter. RDR will cover the cost of the heartworm treatment through our vet partner. If the adopter would prefer to complete treatment at their vet, RDR will reimburse up to the treatment cost through our vet partner. During treatment, they need restricted exercise to short leashed walks only, and they need a fairly quiet home where they arent going to be overstimulated too much. Once the treatment is complete and they get the all clear from the vet, they will be able to live a totally normal/unrestricted life like any other dog. Dogs should be retested 9-12 months after treatment is completed and every year afterwards as part of their annual exam. For more information on heartworms click here: https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basics Please visit our website www.ruraldogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing dog and to see other dogs available for adoption!

Story
Nash is one of those perfect family size pups that will fit in perfectly for any family with an active lifestyle, maybe a few young children that love to run and play and then snuggle while watching some special TV programs.  He was born around October 1st and he and his 3 siblings came to Critter Cavalry Rescue from a not so good environment and outdoor pen that was too small.  His personality is one of curiosity and excitement to learn new things and play with new people.   He is loving being inside a great foster home where he can sit on the sofa, play in a specious backyard with two fun girls over 10 years of age and then hang out with the older Beagle girls that belong to the foster family.  These puppies are always smiling and just happy to be getting the love and care that Critter Cavalry Rescue fosters promise to give. He is 25 pounds at 6 months and he is learning about potty training and crate training and how to be a little puppy gentleman while being part of the inside family activities.  He is not a runner but a fenced yard could be so safe and beneficial.  He needs training on the leash and could be so much fun to take on family hikes, or personal walks for the enjoyment of exercise and the ritual of exploring the great outdoors.  A fun event that showed just how adaptable Nash can be was when he attended a YMCA Puppy Yoga class and what fun it was.  He wandered amongst the Yoga participants saying hello and then discovering himself in the floor to ceiling mirrors that were all over the room.  He was fascinated with seeing himself. These were the most people he had been around in his life at one time!  He passed with flying colors and loved every minute as the hour came to a close and it was time to go home. He and his siblings did so well and they were so cute!!!  Sweet Nash has dreams in life and they are simple.  All he wants is to love his own people and to be loved in return.  A lifetime of promises await this little guy who will one day be a 35 pound adult that will be a treasure in your diary of the life and love of a dog.  Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and let us know where you live:  city and state.  We are in Tennessee and adopt locally and also transport to the Northeastern corridor of states and meet the adopting families.  PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 7, 2025, 1:14 am
