He’s the kind of dog who doesn’t rush through life—he notices everything, appreciates the little things, and reminds you to slow down and enjoy the moment. Kahlua has impeccable manners. Need to tie your shoe? He’ll stop and wait. Collar slips off? He’ll walk right over so you can fix it. He listens beautifully and truly wants to please his person. He also has a fun side—he loves squeaky toys, playing fetch (sharing the ball is a work in progress!), giving kisses, and being tucked in under cozy blankets like the pampered hound he is. This boy is also a lake and boat enthusiast—a true water bug who will happily join you for every lakeside adventure. We first took Geneva in as a foster in July 2023 when she was 7-years-old and loved her sweet demeanor so much that we adopted her the following month. At the time we adopted her, Geneva was hugely overweight and suffering from an unmedicated thyroid problem. We succeeded in getting Geneva back on her medication and down to a healthy weight (~55lbs), true to her breed standard. Her thyroid condition is easily managed with an inexpensive, twice-daily pill. Geneva is adaptable, trusting, sharp as anything, and loves adventures - especially car rides, park romps, trips to PetSmart to ogle the guinea pigs, and endless hikes. Despite her seemingly sedentary nature inside, she would always prefer to be outside (with company). Geneva would be best placed in a home without small children (older children and teens OK) and without other pets, although we have observed her bonding with some smaller dogs.

At 44 pounds, he’s the perfect medium-sized companion—big enough for warm hugs, small enough for couch cuddles. Raymond’s world has recently been turned upside down. His loving family—mom, dad, and a busy, affectionate two-year-old toddler—lost their home due to financial hardship. As they move in with relatives, Raymond isn’t allowed to go. Viola is a beautiful soul that we think is about 3 year old and a Beagle mix girl. This black and white beauty with adorable speckled legs and a sweet She only weighs 20 lbs and has the sweetest smile and absolutely loves people. She was found as a stray that was taken to the shelter very scared and almost shutdown while there. Her human mother died and Viola is now 5 years old. Unfortunately we don’t really know her story, but we feel there is some trauma there in her past. It takes her a little bit to get used to people and even longer for dogs. She wants a safe place to observe (wire crate suggested) till she figures it out. Her foster kept her behind a gate and her bed was her safe place. For a few days she would growl through the gate at the other dogs but after that it was over. We would leave the gate open and she would venture out and if she got nervous she would go back to her safe place. She is never ugly to the other dogs at her foster and if one of the Chihuahuas was mean to her, she just ignored her. We have her using puppy pads because there is no fenced yard. Viola would definetly need a fenced yard so she can safely explore and have potty breaks. The outdoors makes her nervous still. She loves her people immensely and adores kids but older ones are best.
