Story
***Due to an overwhelming response, we are pausing applications on Nicolas to review those already submitted. Please watch our page as we will be posting more littles over the next few days. Thank you!*** Nicolas is a 1-2 year old Terrier mix, likely with some Yorkie. He found himself at Beeville Animal Control after a Good Samaritan witnessed him being abused by unhoused person. Unfortunately this sweetie sat there for two weeks and nobody claimed him. Since they only have 5-6 kennels he would quickly lose his spot be euthanized for space, so our rescuer stepped in and saved him. Nicolas is very playful and just wants to play all the time. He does have an off switch when you put him in his kennel. He is submissive with other dogs. He has an affinity for squeaky toys, perhaps too much? This good boy is good on leash, potty trained (he was marking before his neuter), good with kids, and would make a great apartment dog. The only thing that makes him just below perfect, is he needs to be monitored outside or he will dig a hole to freedom! Nicolas is currently living in a foster home in San Antonio, Texas, awaiting an adopter or open foster home in Colorado to bring him up and into their home- the next transport arrives January 9th! ***Nicolas is being posted on behalf of our partner rescue in Texas- the process and adoption will go through them. The adoption fee does not include the transport fee (usually $125-200).*** Red Fern Animal Rescue offers a two week foster to adopt trial in your home before finalizing the adoption to ensure the animal is the right fit for you, everyone in the home, human & animal, and vice versa. Red Fern Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based animal rescue in Denver that saves animals from abandonment and neglect in South Texas for new lives in Colorado. We primarily rescue dogs off the streets and from kill shelters in San Antonio. ##2614911##

Story
Video 1: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/_I98d4DP6jw Video 2: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/R4ikj0Xsa10 Rudolph is about a year old and weighs 16 lbs. He was found dumped in a field where he would have certainly died if he wasn't rescued. He is the sweetest little boy who loves cuddles and kisses and follows me like a champ. He was a litte intimidated by all the big dogs at the rescue at first but once he realized that everyone is a friend he joined the gang and now runs and plays with everyone in the yard freely. He is also great with cats, including kittens. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tacoma, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) - Vermont (Brattleboro) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative). Story
Meet Ozzie! Ozzie (2 yrs. 11 lbs.) is a sweet terrier mix who is still learning about the world and building his trust in humans. He would thrive in a calm, quiet home with a patient adopter who understands his needs and is willing to work with him at his own pace. Ozzie does best with another confident, established dog in the home to help him feel more comfortable during his transition. He prefers calmer dogs and a peaceful household where he can take his time to explore, relax, and feel safe. Ozzie values his space and will do best with someone who respects that while giving him gentle guidance and love. A meet and greet is highly recommended to ensure Ozzie is a good fit for your home and family. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!

Story
--Recovering from orthopedic surgery and needs physical therapy until she is healed-- Sammi (7 yrs. 15 lbs.) is a Yorkshire Terrier with a big heart and a deep love for people. She is sweet, friendly, and thrives on attention, cuddles, and being close to her humans. Sammi would be happiest as the only companion, where she can soak up all the love and be the center of attention. While she does get along with other dogs, she truly prefers to have the spotlight to herself. Sammi walks nicely on a leash and enjoys her outings, especially when they end with affection and snuggle time. She’s a loving little girl who bonds quickly and loves nothing more than being cherished. Sammi is currently recovering from orthopedic surgery and will need continued physical therapy until she is fully healed. She’s doing well and will thrive in a home that can support her recovery with patience and care. A meet and greet is required to ensure Sammi and her potential adopter are a great match.
