Story
HIGHLIGHTS --Recovering from orthopedic surgery and needs physical therapy until she is healed-- Sammi is a 7-year-old Yorkshire Terrier with a big heart and a deep love for people. She is sweet, friendly, and thrives on attention, cuddles, and being close to her humans. Sammi would be happiest as the only companion, where she can soak up all the love and be the center of attention. While she does get along with other dogs, she truly prefers to have the spotlight to herself. Sammi walks nicely on a leash and enjoys her outings, especially when they end with affection and snuggle time. She’s a loving little girl who bonds quickly and loves nothing more than being cherished. Sammi is currently recovering from orthopedic surgery and will need continued physical therapy until she is fully healed. She’s doing well and will thrive in a home that can support her recovery with patience and care. A meet and greet is required to ensure Sammi and her potential adopter are a great match. If you’re looking for a devoted, affectionate companion who will return your love tenfold, Sammi may be the perfect fit for you. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!

Story
#### Clinton is a 4-year-old Chihuahua Terrier mix who is looking for a quiet, patient home where he can feel safe and secure. He can be a bit reserved at first and needs time to adjust to new people and surroundings, but with patience and consistency, his true personality begins to come through. Clinton would do best in a calm environment with people who understand the importance of letting him move at his own pace. Once he feels comfortable, he forms strong bonds and shows his loyal, affectionate side. If there is a dog already in the home, a meet and greet at the shelter will be required to ensure it is a good fit for everyone. Clinton is searching for a home that will offer stability, understanding, and kindness, giving him the time he needs to settle in and thrive as a loving companion. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Story
Video 1: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/_I98d4DP6jw Video 2: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/R4ikj0Xsa10 Rudolph is about a year old and weighs 16 lbs. He was found dumped in a field where he would have certainly died if he wasn't rescued. He is the sweetest little boy who loves cuddles and kisses and follows me like a champ. He was a litte intimidated by all the big dogs at the rescue at first but once he realized that everyone is a friend he joined the gang and now runs and plays with everyone in the yard freely. He is also great with cats, including kittens. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tacoma, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) - Vermont (Brattleboro) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative). Story
We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see a sweet dog that is in need our help. Georgia was one of these dogs that was in dire need due to lack of space in a shelter and therefore facing euthanasia. This gorgeous girl deserves so much better. She deserves a wonderful home that is filled with tons of love and nurturing. Georgia's excellent temperament is a gift that she'll bring to a dog-crazy family that is searching for that loyal best friend who will always be by their side. Georgia is a 6 - 7 year old, 11 lb, Shih Tzu / Yorkshire Terrier mix. Farfel's can't swear to these breeds as no DNA test was done. Her mix was the opinion of shelter veterinarians and we'll go with their opinion. Georgia was saved from euthanasia due to her excellent temperament, love of life and very sweet demeanor with both humans and other dogs. She is untested with cats. We received the following report from Georgia's foster: * * ** * "Georgia is a gentle girl with a heart as soft as her fluffy coat. This sweet little lady is the definition of friendly. She adores people and soaks up affection like sunshine. Whether you’re offering belly rubs, soft pets, or simply sitting nearby, Georgia is happiest when she’s close to the ones she loves. Georgia enjoys a calm, cozy environment and would be a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal and affectionate best friend. She’s the perfect mix of relaxed and playful, always ready for attention but just as content to curl up beside you on the couch for an afternoon nap or a late night movie. If a loving and very devoted pup is the answer to brighten your winter days, Georgia might be the perfect match. She’s ready to shower her forever family with warmth, sweetness, and plenty of tail wags. This little cutie is so much fun to be around. She's goofy and loving and so very sweet! She was so happy go lucky this morning and when we went outside, she walked well and was so excited to be outdoors. She is great on leash and I do believe she is house trained. She only had one accident on her very first night here. Otherwise she knows to go outside and lets us know when she needs to go out. She definitely had a home before. I just love this little girl!" * * * * We'd like to place Georgia in a home where she'll get consistent stimulation and love. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Georgia has been fully vetted and is up to date on her vaccinations. This support Farfel's commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. She has also been spayed to reinforce our commitment to a euthanasia-free future in the canine population. Georgia has a mild, grade-3 heart murmur (on a scale out of 6). Our vet isn’t concerned, and dogs live long, happy, totally normal lives with murmurs just like this. It doesn’t slow her down one bit — she enjoys her walks, snuggles, and daily routine just like any other pup. We’re happy to answer questions, but truly, this is not expected to impact her quality of life or her ability to be the loving companion she already is. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and very loving best friend and can be found at https://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Georgia please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Story
Cricket is a loving, sweet dog with a sometimes playful personality. She is 12 years old and has been having health issues. She has allergies that are best handled with quarterly allergy injections. She has a fungul infection that has been hard to get rid of even with bathing her in proper shampoos. She requires a good amount of attention. She is house trained but will have occasional accidents if left alone too long without going outside. We adopted her when more of our kids are at home. Our last two boys are busy in high school and we work. We have limited time to give to her and in addition she does require more attention due to some health issues. We do not have the time to properly care for her. It’s very hard to put her up for adoption but I know it is best. Will keep her as long as I need to until she can find a proper home.
