Meet Muffin 🧡 located in NYC📍
This approximately 10-year-old, 12-pound Yorkie mix was found as a stray and surrendered to the shelter. Based on her condition, it appears that Muffin had been neglected for quite some time. She wasn’t doing well in the shelter and foster was found for her.
Once at her foster home, it became clear that what initially looked like extra weight was something much more serious. She has a very large mammary tumor hanging beneath her, and further veterinary testing and an ultrasound revealed an extremely enlarged liver with a mass attached, as well as a very enlarged heart. Given her age and current condition, surgery is unfortunately not considered something she would survive.
Despite everything going on medically, Muffin is still a happy little girl who genuinely enjoys life. She has a great appetite, loves being petted and will happily follow her person around the house. Her foster affectionately calls her “Mama,” and she lights up whenever she hears it. She still enjoys her short walks and will even break into a little trot when she’s feeling energetic. She is completely housebroken, uses wee pads, and gets along well with both dogs and cats.
Right now, Muffin is staying in Midtown Manhattan, where getting outside means navigating an entire flight of stairs and this determined little lady still does it because she loves being outdoors that much.
Muffin would love to be with a hospice adopter with a yard, a deck, or simply an easy place where she can step outside, feel the sunshine on her face, sniff the grass and enjoy her days without having to work so hard to get there.
She is microchipped, up to date on her vaccines, currently requires no medications or special diet, and asks for very little. A comfortable bed, some good meals, short walks, plenty of pets, and someone nearby to love would mean everything to her.
We’re not looking for someone to cure Muffin or change her prognosis. We’re looking for someone who understands that senior and hospice dogs still have so much love to give and who would consider opening their home to this affectionate little girl for however much time she has.
Muffin doesn’t need much. A comfortable place to sleep, good meals, little walks, sunshine, plenty of affection, and someone to follow around would make her very happy. Sweet Muffin deserves somewhere peaceful and comfortable to spend the time she has left. If you’re willing to give Muffin a soft place to spend the rest of her days, please contact us.
