Meet Reeses, as in Reese’s Pieces 🍬 When we first met her she was terrified and wanted to rip us to pieces, but give her a few days and she will love you to pieces instead! Nothing is more rewarding than earning the trust of these scared little ones whose instinct is to lash out when scared, and watching their entire personality change once they realize they can trust you. This under 2 year old scruffy yorkie/Shih tzu mix has plenty of reason to be so distrustful. Her owner never socialized her with other people and would go on vacations and leave her alone in her apartment for days at a time. One day she got evicted and just left this scared little girl behind. Luckily authorities found her before it was too late and healthwise she’s just fine. Her emotional trauma from being left alone so much and getting proper socialization as a puppy are much harder to overcome. Once she loves you, there is no better snuggler. If she could somehow melt into you or fuse herself to your lap like some kind of siamese twin she would do it in a heartbeat. Velcro dog isn’t a strong enough term, she’s more like a magnet 🧲 who will do whatever it takes to get to her person. No gate can hold her, she climbs out of any expen, leaps or squeezes through extra tall baby gates (we haven’t witnessed all of her magical escapes, just know she’s always somehow popping up places she’s not supposed to be 😆). Luckily she’s (grudgingly) cratable though not quietly and will need some practice being left alone- it takes her some time screaming out her protests but she does eventually settle and go to sleep. Unless you want to come home and find her walking around on top of your kitchen counter or refrigerator like a cat we definitely recommend sticking with the crate training. Reeses is looking for a patient adult home that will love this crazy little monkey 🙉 flying squirrel 🐿️ cat 🐈 hybrid, for better or worse, and have a sense of humor about her antics and adventurous spirit. Meet Rubble (rhymes with trouble) a scruffy 7 month old little terrier mix who was abandoned in a carrier by a dumpster as a scared little puppy. We thought about naming him Dumpster Fire since his entire life has been one giant one 🗑️ 🔥, but that sounds a little awkward to be out in your yard yelling randomly. Adopted by a very loud bush active family with a pack of young boisterous children that would not leave him alone, he defending himself the only way an adorable 10lbs puppy who looks like a stuffed animal but definitely didn’t want to be treated that way could 😖. And them his owners were determine to have this awful pup euthanized and out of their house ASAP! He’s learned to protect his space, food, and resources, is very hand shy and on guard but once he realizes you aren’t an annoying toddler trying to pull his tail and you aren’t going to scream at him for protecting himself from the wild pack of children, he melts into a fun playful cuddly puppy. He’s given us no issues at all and fallen in line with the other dogs, so we see great potential in him. He’s right at that age where there’s still time to turn his life around in the right environment and with the right force-free training and socialization, but he needs someone committed to rebuilding his faith that his person will defend him so he doesn’t have to. Meet Fabio! This handsome youngster with the flowing blond head of hair has already been off to a rough start in life. Given away for free to someone 2 months ago, he was surrendered to animals control because “he doesn’t know how to play and bites when he plays”. He is only 10 months old and we have seen nothing aggressive so far so we suspect they just didn’t understand puppy mouthing and play. They clearly didn’t understand much about proper dog care as he was impressively densely matted considering his hair wasn’t even that long. He was a good boy for his shave down. He is dramatically terrified of other dogs- barks and acts tough to scare them away but if that doesn’t work he hides and cowers in fear. We are working on socializing him with some calm small neutral dogs who leave him alone and he is cautiously curious checking them out. He’s some kind of little terrier mix- Yorkie maybe more Silky Terrier with a long low build and a mix of soft curly hair with a more wiry legs and tail, under 15lbs full grown. He seems like more of a fun adventurous terrier than a frail toy lapdog and is looking for an active home to have fun. He’s working on crate training and housebreaking and picking it up quickly, a very smart sensitive attentive little guy. Introducing Felicity! When we said yes to this little girl we assumed from the photos she was going to be a senior with some longterm chronic eye disease. But shockingly under the matted hair and behind the messed up eyeball, she is just a puppy! Which makes what she has been through already in her young life even sadder. She was brought to a local animal control in a carrier by someone who supposedly “found her” and she seemed pretty attached to 🤔. She was impressively urine soaked and matted down to the skin for such a young girl, but a happy playful puppy. She likely had some kind of injury or ulcer in her one eye that wasn’t treated and led to a painful blind eye that needed to be removed- luckily her other eye is just fine so she can see on the one side. She loves to romp and play, is about 8 months old and 8lbs, and we think some kind of Yorkie/maltese/Shih Tzu mix. Very social and doesn’t like being left alone, she loved when crazy climbing Champ would decide to climb into her ex pen with her and hang out with her and would do well with a playful dog that appreciates her energy (she has no manners or self preservation and tramples the cranky older dogs-maybe how she ended up with her eye to begin with). She’s recovering in a medical foster now and will be looking for a home very soon… has been using wee wee pads but will need work on housebreaking and someone home with her more often than not. > If I had to pick one word to describe Booker, it would be resilient. At just 8 years old and 11 pounds, he’s a Yorkie/Poodle mix who was found on the side of the road in a quiet ruraL of Middle Tennessee. He was rescued on one of the hottest days of summer, and when he was found his fur was so horribly matted, that he had to be shaved down to the skin by the vet tech who is NOT a groomer. She did the best she could do. Now he is starting fresh and slowly he is growing out and his fur is now a beautiful white. From the moment he arrived, Booker won over the whole foster family. He loves to be close to his people and is incredibly affectionate. He gets excited about everything! His love for life and his courage is just incredible to watch. This boy loves everyone and every creature he meets. He is also very good with dogs of all sizes and is great with kids, too. > Walking on a leash is still a work in progress, but he has come a long way. With some more time and practice, he will be a great dog to take on walks. He also enjoys playing in the backyard, chasing butterflies just like Dolly Parton. Booker is crate-trained or will happily sleep beside you in the bed all night. He can spend all day resting next to you without any complaints or making any sound. He is truly one of the easiest fur babies ever! If you are interested in this sweet Yorkie/Poodle mix boy who was treated poorly and thrown outside for some horrible reason, just know that he has risen from the ashes like a Phoenix full of hope and courage.
