We are dedicated to rescuing dogs in shelters, dogs in abusive or neglectful situations, and dogs surrendered by their owners because of difficult circumstances. We place dogs in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process, which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes and lives. Dogs in our care are spayed or neutered, microchipped, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement. Dogs in the greatest need take priority. Meet Bryce! He is a 5yr old male Akita/Cattle dog mix that weighs 82lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 11/22 as a stray. He is a very handsome boy, with probably a few more breeds in the mix. He is a very strong leash walker and will need additional training to help him learn he doesn`t need to pull so much. He has an investigative nose that enjoys taking in every inch of the shelter yard. He knows the sit command and takes treats gently. He prefers stuffed toys to carry around yet couldn`t decide on a favorite. He likes to be petted and rubbed behind his ears. Due to his size he would do best in a home with adults and older children. He showed no interest in the other dogs that were barking at him but we do always ask if there is another dog in the home to ask the shelter for a dog test. If you can offer Bryce a secured yard to play in and the indoor life with a fluffy dog bed and human companions to bond with.
