Story
Diesel is an 8-year-old purebred Akita (turns 9 in October — his birthday is 10/18/17). He’s a big fluffy guy who was my ex’s dog and sadly she can’t/ won’t take him back. I want to make sure he finishes out his golden years happily in a household where he can relax and live his best life. Diesel is super sweet once he warms up to you. He’s got such a goofy, fun personality — he loves playing fetch (especially his version of hide-and-seek with toys), getting belly and butt rubs, and just chilling inside. He’s a total inside dog who loves cooler weather and snow. He’s happy to sleep most of the day away (with some loud snoring for comic relief). He will do anything for a treat, especially peanut butter in his special zogo toy! He’s also really well-trained. He’s fully kennel trained and not aggressive.

Story
Teddy is a nearly 4 year old Akita with an easygoing, independent nature. He loves spending his days relaxing and taking things at his own pace, but he's always happy to soak up attention when his people offer it. He's fully house trained and sleeps comfortably in his crate overnight. Teddy is playful and enjoys exploring fenced in areas and engaging in gentle games, tug with stuffed toys is his absolute favorite. He also gets along well with dogs of all sizes and has a calm, respectful presence that many pups appreciate. Teddy is looking for a home that values his mellow personality, gives him space to unwind, and welcomes his sweet, understated affection. If you're hoping for a peaceful companion with a touch of playful spirit, he might be the perfect match. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00 and that includes their vaccinations, spay or neuter, rabies and microchip. To start the process please visit our website and fill out the adoption application (www.dfwrescueme.org) and from there the foster family can answer any questions and arrange a time to meet. Teddy is participating in the DFW Rescue Me guest dog program, so ongoing care and custody is provided by her foster, not by DFWRM.May 9, 2026, 12:08 am

Meet Mars! Mars is a happy, playful, and energetic girl whoâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s searching for a home that loves to stay active and have fun together. She's 20 pounds and a bit over a year old. With her enthusiasm and bright personality, Mars would be a fantastic match for someone looking for a dog to train, explore with, and truly bond with. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Mars II, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org. Story
Shorty is a 3â€Âׂ-year-old Siberian Husky with a story of resilience and quiet strength. Weighing about 55 pounds, he is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and has completed treatment for heartworms. For nearly two years, Shorty survived alongside a small pack of dogs at a local Walmart—each of them now safe and adopted. Now it’s his turn to find a place to call home. Unlike the typical husky, Shorty is more reserved and low-key. He isn’t especially vocal or high-energy, and he tends to be shy in new environments. But give him time, patience, and a few treats, and you’ll see his gentle personality begin to shine. He forms bonds slowly, but meaningfully, and will thrive with someone who understands that trust is built over time. Shorty is looking for a husky-savvy, experienced adopter who can provide a calm, stable environment. Life on the streets left him with both physical and emotional scars. He has healed from multiple serious injuries, including fractures in his front left leg, back left leg, and C7 spine, likely from high-impact trauma, as well as a gunshot wound to his front left leg. Because of this, he will need pain medication as needed for the rest of his life. Despite everything he’s been through, Shorty remains incredibly gentle. He is dog-friendly and enjoys the company of other dogs, though true to his breed, he would prefer a cat-free home. He is also leash trained, potty trained, and crate trained—ready to settle into a routine with the right person. Shorty’s journey hasn’t been easy, but he’s ready for a fresh start. With patience, understanding, and love, he will be a deeply loyal and rewarding companion. This pet is participating in the Dallas Pets Alive rehoming program.
