Story
Meet handsome and happy Romondo! Romondo is a 3-year-old big beautiful boy. His DNA panel revealed he is an Alaskan Malamute/Great Dane/Great Pyrenees mix, along with a small amount of Siberian Husky and Australia Shepherd. What a fantastic mix! Romondo weighs about 110 pounds. Romondo loves his people, is affectionate, and loves lots of attention. Romondo is built for the outdoors and loves to be outside. He enjoys hikes and is not bothered by Washington weather. Romondo would love to live on fully fenced property where he could sniff and explore and run and hang out happily with his family. Romondo also loves to just sit quietly and watch over everything. He is not an escape artist—he doesn't climb, jump over, or dig under fencing. As much as he loves the outdoors, he loves his people too. Romondo will happily hang inside too and cuddle with you anytime. Romondo enjoys leash walks around the neighborhood. He is strong and a bit of a puller, but his foster parents have been working with him and he's doing very well. His leash walking is improving so much. Romondo can get excited when walking past people and dogs, but it's just his excitement and desire to meet. If his new home had another dog, it would be best for him to live with a female dog or be an only dog. Romondo is such a terrific dog and deserves every bit of love that we can give him. Prior to rescue by Lucky Paws, Romondo was stressed and frightened in the shelter. But in foster care he has blossomed and relaxed. Romondo is neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. Please help us find his forever family! For more information and an adoption application- please contact Terry at contact@luckypawsrescuewa.org.

Story
Hi, I’m Rian 💛I’m a 5-year-old boy, a Malamute–Husky mix, and I weigh about 23kg.I know… I look big and strong, maybe even a little cool. But if you get to know me, you’ll see—I’m actually just a big softie.I really, really love people.Even if we’ve just met, I might come right up to you like,“Hi… can we be friends?”I love being close to my person.Spending time together, making eye contact, sharing quiet moments…that’s what makes me feel safe and happy.Once I open my heart, I become very affectionate.I’ll want to stay near you, lean into you, and just be by your side as much as I can.I get along well with other dogs too!I have a gentle nature and enjoy playing, whether it’s with toys or with friends.I’m a bright, cheerful boy who just enjoys life and companionship.I was rescued from a place where my time was almost over…but I didn’t lose my trust in people.I still believe in love, and I’m still reaching out for it.I’m also a pretty quick learner! If you teach me with patience and consistency, I’ll do my best to understand and follow along.Because of my Malamute and Husky side, I do have lots of energy.I’ll need regular walks, exercise, and time to really let that energy out.A quick walk won’t always be enough—I’d love a family who enjoys being active with me.I can also have a little independent streak (maybe just a tiny bit stubborn sometimes… 😊),so I’ll need someone who can guide me with calm, steady leadership.Living in a home might be new for me,so I’ll need to learn things like house routines and potty habits from the beginning. But if you’re patient with me, I know I can become an amazing companion.I’m already ready to love someone with my whole heart. All I need now…is someone who will accept me, guide me,and stay with me for life. Will you be my person? 💛

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Keno — A Loyal, Snow‑Loving Malamute/Husky Looking for His Second Chance Keno is a striking 4‑year‑old Malamute/Husky mix with a big heart and an even bigger need for the right person to guide him forward. Sadly, his owner has passed away and Keno has been living with family.  Keno is searching for a new home where he can rebuild his sense of security and belonging. This boy has all the classic northern‑breed charm: he’s smart, energetic, outdoorsy, and full of personality. Although he’s been living mostly outside recently, Keno is housebroken and has a foundation of basic commands — sit, lay down, and even roll over. He walked beautifully on leash for his owner and shows that same potential with new handlers once he settles his excitement. What is Keno Like Dog‑friendly and social — Keno enjoys the company of friendly dogs of all sizes and reads canine body language well. He thrives around dogs who are calm and confident. Smart and capable — He already knows sit, lay down, and roll over, and he walked beautifully on leash for his owner. With someone patient and consistent, he’ll pick up new skills quickly. Housebroken — Even though he’s been living outdoors more recently, he remembers his manners indoors. Energetic and fun‑loving — Keno has that classic northern‑breed enthusiasm and loves being active, exploring, and engaging with his people. Independent but eager to bond — He may be a work in progress, but he genuinely wants to connect. Once he trusts you, he tries hard to listen and learn. A respectful wanderer — He doesn’t dig or climb fences, but he does like to roam if given the chance, so secure fencing helps him stay safe while enjoying his space. His Ideal Home Keno will thrive with adopters who understand the Malamute/Husky mindset: independent, intelligent, and deeply loyal once bonded. His perfect match is a home with: No young children No small pets A securely fenced yard Owners experienced with high‑energy working breeds Patience and commitment to training Keno is a dog with incredible potential. Underneath his rough edges is a devoted companion who just needs someone willing to meet him where he is and help him grow. If you’re looking for a challenge that comes with huge rewards — and you love the spirit of northern breeds — Keno may be the dog who changes your life.   Important - Please note.   This dog is being listed by WAMAL but is residing with its owner. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Odyssey — The Big, Goofy Malamute With an Even Bigger Heart If you love a dog with personality, presence, and a whole lot of charm, Odyssey is ready to win you over. This big, smiley Malamute is the definition of a gentle giant—affectionate, goofy, and absolutely devoted to the people he loves. Odyssey is known for his escape‑artist theatrics and his playful “catch me if you can” routine, but his oversized ears always give him away. He may try to act sneaky, but he’s far too endearing to pull it off. Because he’s clever and curious, he’ll need a secure 6‑foot fenced yard to keep his adventures safe and contained. What Odyssey loves most is attention. Leaning into you for affection, rolling over for belly rubs, and staring at you with the most loving (and sometimes hilariously awkward) gaze—these are his specialties. Despite his size, he’s a total sweetheart who just wants to be close to his people. Watch him run and you’ll see those big ears bounce in every direction, perfectly matching his joyful, slightly clumsy energy. Whether he’s joining you for a long walk or romping around the yard, Odyssey brings fun and enthusiasm to everything he does. Odyssey is the perfect match for a family who: Has a secure 6‑foot fenced yard Enjoys an energetic, playful companion Appreciates a dog who is both goofy and deeply affectionate Wants a larger‑than‑life personality who will always keep them smiling Life with Odyssey means laughter, love, and a whole lot of Malamute charm. If you’re looking for a big sweetie who will fill your days with joy, Odyssey is ready to be your new best friend.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 3, 2026, 11:08 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet SHASTA, a beautiful Malamute mix with a bright spirit and an adventurous heart. She’s a very high energy, active, outdoors‑loving girl who thrives on long walks, hikes, and any chance to explore the world with her people.  She loves to run and play anytime she is outside, she is a run not walk type of girl. If you’re someone who loves fresh air, movement, and a loyal companion by your side, she’ll fit right in. Shasta gets along wonderfully with other dogs and she’s been exposed to a wide variety of animals. She does well with cats, chickens, ducks, pigs, and even a goose. The only animals she struggles with are rabbits, so a rabbit‑free home is important. She’s crate trained, walks nicely on leash, and knows a great set of commands, including: Sit, Wait, Load up, Okay (her release word), Leave it, Cross (she waits for permission to cross the road), Paw, High Five and Get it. Her recall still needs work, so she should remain on leash during outdoor adventures for now. With consistency and patience, she’ll continue to grow. Shasta will do best in a home with older kids or no kids, simply because her energy and enthusiasm are better suited to a more mature household. She’s an ideal match for outdoorsy people who enjoy staying active and want a dog who can keep up. Most importantly, she’s looking for people with lots of love to give—because she has plenty to give back. Shasta is ready for a life full of adventure, companionship, and affection. If you’re looking for a loyal, energetic partner to share your days with, she might be the perfect fit.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 3, 2026, 11:08 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Zeus — A Big‑Hearted Boy Looking for His Next Great Adventure Some dogs leave pawprints on your heart the moment you meet them — Zeus is one of those dogs. This handsome Malamute/Husky mix didn’t end up looking for a new home because of anything he did. His owner, who adored him deeply, faced an unexpected change in living circumstances and made the heartbreaking decision to let him go so he could continue living the active, joyful life he deserves. She describes him as a “total lovebug,” and it’s clear she wants nothing more than for him to find a family who will cherish him just as much as she has. A Daily Life Filled With Fun, Activity, and Connection Zeus is used to living life to the fullest. His days were spent: Going on energizing morning runs Visiting dog parks and making new friends Playing in the backyard Practicing training exercises (with a little Mal/Husky-style attitude sprinkled in) He thrives with people who enjoy being outdoors, staying active, and including him in their daily adventures. If you’re looking for a companion who will happily join you on hikes, runs, or weekend outings, Zeus is your guy. A Social Butterfly With a Gentle Heart One of Zeus’s most endearing traits is how much he loves meeting people. He’ll walk right up, nuzzle into you, and politely ask for pets with those big, expressive eyes. He’s affectionate, loyal, and eager to bond with his humans. With other dogs, Zeus loves some female dogs and will often roll onto his back to show submission — a sweet, goofy gesture that fits his personality perfectly. However, with male dogs Zeus likes to be the alpha.  We recommend he not be in a home with other male dogs and carefully introduced to female dogs to see if they will get along. A Dog With Quirks That Make Him Even More Lovable Zeus has a few adorable quirks that make him unforgettable: He loves cat toys — not to destroy, but to care for. He treats them like his babies and carries them around gently. He’s a tug-of-war champion — when it comes to playtime, that’s his game of choice. He knows tons of commands — sit, lay, speak, paw, recall, up, down, drop it, and stay. He also knows how to negotiate — Zeus is smart enough to understand commands, but he’s also a Malamute/Husky… which means he sometimes prefers to perform them only when a treat sweetens the deal. His intelligence, combined with his playful stubbornness, makes him both entertaining and rewarding to train. What Zeus Is Looking For Zeus will thrive with a family who: Enjoys an active lifestyle Wants a dog who’s affectionate, social, and deeply loyal Can continue his training and keep his mind engaged Appreciates a dog with personality, humor, and heart Has the time and space to give him the life he’s used to He’s not just looking for a home — he’s looking for a partnership, a family, and a place where he can be his joyful, loving self. Zeus Is Ready to Start His Next Chapter If you’ve been dreaming of a dog who will run with you in the morning, cuddle with you in the evening, and make you laugh every single day, Zeus might be the perfect match. He’s a big-hearted Mal/Husky with endless love to give, and he’s ready to share it with someone who will treasure him just as much as his former owner did. Zeus isn’t just a dog — he’s a companion, a character, and a loyal friend waiting for his next adventure.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 3, 2026, 11:08 pm
