Story
Meet Forrest, an eight-month-old Alaskan Malamute/German Shepherd mix weighing 70 pounds.Forrest is a big, sweet, dorky boy who is just starting to discover what life is all about. He came to us after being seized by Animal Control along with six other dogs, and it’s clear that everything outside of his previous indoor world is brand new and a little overwhelming for him right now.Despite his uncertainty, Forrest has a very gentle, loving nature. He is still very much a baby at heart—big in size, but soft and unsure in spirit. He soaks up attention when he feels safe and finds comfort in kind voices, calm handling, and patient companionship.New situations can be scary for Forrest, and he is still learning about the leash, which can feel confusing to him. He will need a patient, understanding adopter who can go at his pace and help him build confidence step by step. Every small success will be a big milestone for this sensitive boy.Forrest is looking for a calm, supportive home where he can learn that the world is not such a scary place. With time, reassurance, and gentle guidance, he has all the potential to grow into a deeply loyal and loving companion. If you have the heart to help a nervous boy find his footing, Forrest is ready to learn the way with you. This pet is available for adoption on 6.23.26 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Sadie — A Sweet, Social, Snuggle‑Loving Malamute Ready for Her New Family Sadie is a warm, outgoing Alaskan Malamute who wins hearts fast. She greets new people with confidence and curiosity, happily leans in for tummy rubs, and loves to snuggle. She’s calm in the car, settles quickly in her kennel, wonderful traits in a breed known for big personalities. On walks, Sadie starts with a little enthusiasm but quickly finds her rhythm. She’s done well with other dogs in the play yard and is generally neutral, though she can get a bit grumpy with dogs who ignore social boundaries. A respectful canine companion could be a good match. Sadie is a little overweight, but she’s very treat‑motivated, making training and healthy routines easy to build. A human dentist who looked at her teeth estimated she may be around 5–6 years old — a great age for a dog who’s past the puppy stage but still full of life. At her core, Sadie is a sweet, steady, people‑loving dog who thrives on human company. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a gentle spirit and a snuggly side, Sadie is ready to meet you. Good with kids, Good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter,
Story
Giant is a young, large-breed dog born around April 25, 2025, and joined our family at approximately 5 months old. He is affectionate, laid-back, and loves being part of daily life. Giant gets along wonderfully with other dogs, including our Golden Retriever, Border Collie mix, and family members’ Dachshunds. He has been excellent with children and enjoys attention, belly rubs, bones, swimming, and relaxing outdoors. Giant knows basic commands and has decent leash manners, though he could benefit from additional training and consistency. He has a strong prey drive toward birds and poultry, which is the primary reason we must rehome him. He may occasionally chase running cats but has never shown the same fixation he has with birds. He would thrive in a loving home with plenty of space to roam, such as fenced acreage or a large secure yard. Giant can do well as an only dog or with compatible canine companions. His ideal family will provide companionship, affection, and outdoor time.
