Story
Duke will be 6 in January. He's a very cuddly boy who loves being the center of attention. His first 4 years of life were just him and dad checking out all the different places to live. In the last 2 years, his life has changed pretty drastically from being just with dad to a blended home with kids and no more moving. He's great with the kids but doesn't understand why they aren't here to constantly love on him. He's good with other dogs when it's on his terms but better without other dogs. He's very emotional and affectionate unless you are a delivery driver. With the constant rotation of people in the house... kids home then at school or other houses, or us at work, he's become very distressed. We don't want to find him a new home but our landlord and neighbors are complaining regularly and he's not happy with the chaos of our life. He needs a home that is just for him where he can cuddle with his person and know he's still a good, lovable boy.

Story
STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application.  Meet Chowder — Ready for His Fresh Start! Say hello to Chowder! Like his buddy Stew, he came from a home where life was… well, far from what any dog deserves. The conditions were rough, love was limited, and stability was nonexistent. Thankfully, Chowder is now safe, cared for, and finally learning what it feels like to live like a cherished family member. Chowder wasn’t as thin as Stew, but he still came from the same situation — and he’s soaking up every bit of kindness, comfort, and routine like it’s all brand new (because it is). He’s a sweet, gentle boy who loves being with his people, enjoys his toys, and is discovering that soft beds and regular meals are pretty amazing. His personality is blossoming more every day! Chowder would do great with a family who enjoys activity, playtime, and being involved with their dog. He is learning the good life quickly and is so ready for a forever home that will treat him with the love and dignity he always deserved. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a big heart and an even bigger desire to make you smile, Chowder may be your perfect match. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Apply to meet him today — his new beginning starts with you! All STAR animals come vetted, Up to Date (UTD) on age appropriate shots and testing, spay and neutered (if of age,) and microchipped. AGE DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately, most of the orphaned animals that come into our rescue looking for homes don’t bring birth certificates. Sometimes we know our pets’ ages. Sometimes we don’t. So we make our best guess based on the condition of their teeth and the veterinarians best guess.   BREED DISCLAIMER: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label . Microchips: For the safety of our dogs and peace of mind of our fosters and adopters, STAR microchips all dogs prior to adoption with Petlink Microchips. Please understand that all dogs MUST still wear a collar with ID tags (which include your current information) AT ALL TIMES. Please remember, our foster dogs are extremely important to us-- we will always take any of our dogs back, if for any reason you can't keep your adopted dog. Never surrender him/her to a shelter! STAR is a foster-based rescue. All our rescue animals stay in foster homes until adoption. We do not have a central facility. If you want to meet any of our adoptables please submit an application.  Meet Stew — Your Future King of Cuddles! Hi there! My name is Stew, and I’m a 2-year-old American Bully who has traded a life of squalor for one of soft beds, full bellies, and being treated like the royalty I truly am. When my foster mom first got me, I was very underweight… but don’t worry, I’m filling out beautifully and feeling better every day! Despite my rough start, I am incredibly sweet and just want to be loved. I adore my toys, enjoy being near my people, and would thrive with an active family who likes walks, playtime, and maybe even some adventures. Food was scarce in my past, so mealtime is basically my favorite thing ever—but I don’t resource guard, and I’m learning to take treats gently like a perfect little gentleman. I haven’t lived with other dogs or cats in my foster home, so my compatibility is still unknown, but I’m not overly reactive when I see other dogs out and about, like at the vet. With proper intros, I may do just fine! If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, wiggly, toy-loving guy who is ready to be spoiled for the rest of his life, then look no further. Stew is ready for his forever throne. Apply to meet me today — I can’t wait to love you! Story
Good With Kids: No experience with kids yet Good With Other Dogs: Yes with slow intros Good With Cats: No Housetrained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes but not fond of it Walks Nicely On A Leash: Workin’ on it Knows Basic Commands: Workin’ on it Energy Level (Couch Potato, Moderate or High): Moderate Special Needs: * Physical Fence: N/A Favorite Toy / Activity: Fetch. Has a favorite ball. Arrival story: It’s a long, sad story of bouncing around from place to place. We know there is a Georgie devotee out there, though! Approximate age / Weight: About 3 yrs old / 50 lbs. Personality: Meet Georgie, the 50-pound sweetheart with a perfectly placed brown eye patch and a heart that’s somehow stayed soft through every twist life has thrown at him. This gentle bully breed mix has been bounced around far more than any dog should be, but he’s still hopeful, still willing to trust, and still ready to love the person who finally loves him back. Georgie is a belly rub connoisseur and a champion fetch enthusiast—whether you toss his favorite ball, a beloved stuffy, or anything that squeaks (oh yes, he LOVES a good squeaker), he’s ready to play. When playtime winds down, you’ll find him happily nesting himself into a cozy pile of blankets like the comfort-loving little burrito he is. Around the house, Georgie has lovely manners and a wonderfully charming “woo-woo” alert bark that lets you know he takes his role as watch dog seriously—without being overly chatty about it. He’s easygoing about having his ears or paws handled, and he’s learning helpful cues like touch, find it, and come. He’s a bright boy who genuinely wants to get it right. *After everything he’s been through—rescue, shelter life, being a stray, and too many false starts—Georgie is understandably cautious. He’s finding his footing again and will need a patient family who gives him time, space, and consistency to fully settle in. Car rides aren’t his favorite yet, and he’ll benefit from some medical or behavioral support for that piece, but he tries so hard in every other way. New Home: What Georgie wants most is simple: a home where he’s safe, understood, and finally stays. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a tender spirit, a goofy side, and a heart looking for its forever match, Georgie just might be your guy. CONTACT: Please contact wtdr@waggintailsdogrescue.org with any questions or submit adoption application via our website www.waggintailsdogrescue.org/adoption-application. Story
Meet Bojangles! This loving bully mix is just five months old and already the happy go lucky kind of dog that people dream of having. While adventuring and floating on the river are his favorite activities so far, this fella is also down for playing with other dogs. Despite his adventurous nature, Bojangles will also settle well in a crate and is totally up for snuggling with his person. If this sounds like the pup for you, please complete an application at https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Once the application is approved, a FaceTime will be set up for a virtual meet and greet. Since we are located in Mobile, AL, this will give you the opportunity to see the pet interact with other dogs, people, and see a bit of their personality. Transports leave every week alternating between the NE and the Great Lakes. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.
