Story
Chapo was my youngest brother’s dog. He bought Chapo in January of 2019 as a puppy. My brother passed away in 2021, and left Chapo behind in the care of myself and my mother. Chapo is a wonderful cuddle buddy, very loving, a protector of his loved ones and sister pup Daisy, and he is so much more. Chapo does have a temperament when he feels attacked or threatened. He has never bit anyone but he has snapped. After my brother passed he somehow forgot that he is house trained and needs to go through training again. He lost his alpha and has been heartbroken ever since. We just need a loving home that will have lots of space for him to run, be free, well loved and fed, and live out the rest of his days in peace.

Story
Meet Harley! GLDR LONGEST RESIDENT!! LOVES ALL PEOPLE & KIDS! LOOKING FOR A FOSTER/FOREVER FOR OUR DARLING GIRL! This adorable boxer babe is three years old and weighs in around 60 pounds. She is eagerly awaiting a family that will love her for the wonderful pup she is! Harley has been with GLDR on and off since 2023, still dreaming of the day her forever family comes to take her home. Though she has had a few breaks away, sadly she has been back at the kennel for months now, being overlooked time after time. Always out to impress, she is both crate-trained and house-trained! A bright and eager learner, Harley is ready to show off her skills! She knows commands like sit, down, shake, and off! With the help of high-value treats, she's ready to learn even more! When it comes time to play, she is ready and willing to have a good time! She likes her stuffed toys and enjoys chasing a ball. Playing tug is her favorite! A fenced in yard for her to romp in is a must for this fun-loving pup! Harley enjoys going for walks and does best when harnessed. She will respond well to a capable handler. Up for exploring? She rides well in the car and is ready to join you on all of your adventures! At the end of a fun-filled day, Harley is perfectly content to spend her day lounging inside with her people. She enjoys snuggling in with cozy blankets on her favorite spot on the couch. She sleeps quietly through the night dreaming of the day when she can leave the kennel life behind. Based on our evaluation, Harley would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. She has lived with kids before and adores them! Although Harley is dog selective, we feel she would do best as the only animal in the home. She needs an experienced adopter who is ready to train her and form a lifelong bond. If you think you could be the family to give Harley the forever home she deserves, please visit greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application today!

Story
What a cuddle bug! Odin is estimated to be about 5 years old and weighs 45 pounds. Oh, there is just so much to say about sweet Odin, where to begin? He is a very well-mannered, quiet, and gentle natured boy, who is very affectionate. He likes to be close and seeks comfort and reassurance from you. With his gentle kisses and love for laps, he is truly going to make someone an incredible best friend. Odin can be a little shy and takes just a minute to open up and trust, but when he does, it is a beautiful thing to see. We are not sure what has happened in his past, some type of trauma with all the scarring he has on his body, the poor muffin. But you would never know with all the sweetness inside of him. Odin would love a quieter, more predictable type home where any children are at least 13 years old with his quiet nature. He needs a patient adopter who will take the time to help build his confidence and trust. Odin is dreaming of a forever home filled with love, he is a true gentleman, and any family would be so lucky to have him. If you are interested in Odin and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Hello, my name is Calvin! I'm a sweet boy with a gentle and shy demeanor. I am about a year old and weigh 50 pounds. Apparently, I’m a gorgeous chocolatey muffin if you listen to the nice volunteers here at the rescue! I'm looking for a forever home where I can feel safe, loved, and cared for. I am a bit submissive and unsure of new things and people, but I'm a pleaser and I want to trust you. I perk up and get all playful with toys when I feel safe, and I release them nicely when it’s time. I just need a leader to rely on, and an adopter who has the time and patience to help build my confidence. Are you the one I have been waiting for? It’s important I think to have another friendly dog in the home, I open up more and really find my confidence when they are around. I love to play with other dogs and am all soft and loose. I will need a home where any children are at least 8 years old with my shy nature. I just know I will blossom in the right, loving home. Oh, how I wish for a family to love me. If you are interested in Calvin and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying.
