Story
** Can only be seen by appointment: 651-772-8983 **Hi, I’m Gus – a 7-year-old handsome American Bulldog mix with movie star looks and a heart that’s still learning to trust. I tend to keep my circle small until I know you’re the real deal. Earn my trust (and bring treats and a Chuckit ball), and you’ll see I’m all in.Meet Gus – Our drop-dead gorgeous ball enthusiast. He was picked up by St. Paul Animal Control, and his owner was never found. Let’s be real, Gus isn’t a “jump-into-your-arms” kind of guy. He’s more of a slow but steady trust building kind of guy. But give him time, some patience, and a ball (yeah, it’s kind of a big deal), and you’ll unlock a whole new level of loyal. Gus isn’t a starter dog – he’s more of a “hidden gem” seasoned dog owner type dog. But once you’re in his circle of trust, you’re in for life. You’ll get tail wags, silly antics, and unmatched joy of earning the trust of a dog who really needs his person. Gus loves to go on walks but just don’t expect a calm stroll in the park – Gus walks like he’s late for a very important meeting. He’s got places to be and smells to sniff. Loyal, goofy, and a little extra – he is a special boy with a big personality. Gus would thrive in a home that understands that love takes time, but once he’s in, he’s all in. Bonus points if you have a strong leash hand and an endless supply of Chuckit balls! If you are into loyalty and laughs, with a “work-in-progress” dog, who’ll love you almost as much as his ball? Then look no further. He’s special - He knows it. We know it. And soon you will too. Gus is waiting – ball in mouth, heart on sleeve.

Story
Yumi is a 2-year-old Bulldog mix who is eager to explore the world around her! Weighing in at 50 lbs, she makes the silliest noises when she's sleeping or sniffing on a walk, and her adorable full-body wiggles are sure to bring joy to any home. She is house-trained, crate-trained, and makes for a great roommate because of how she loves to lounge and snuggle—especially when belly rubs are involved!—and isn't noisy when left alone. Her favorite thing is getting comfy on the couch with you and snuggling up in some blankets. She is such a sweet silly girl who loves attention and being involved, but is also happy to go nap while you need your own space.Yumi thrives on mental stimulation and loves food puzzles, learning new tricks, and going on adventures. Her foster family says she does well with a mix of short and long walks throughout the day (totaling 45-90 minutes per day). She will prefer a fenced yard in her future home, but as long as she gets plenty of run time and off-leash time, she will be fulfilled. When she's at home, she's happy to sniff around, play with soft toys, and chew on a Kong. This brave girl has been through a lot—she survived living on the street and later recovered from hip surgery with incredible resilience. She is a survivor and a thriver! She gets very curious about anything new and learns very quickly. Yumi would love to be your only fur-kid but would like a family who could help her learn how to meet new dog friends so she can have fun! Yumi has also met a couple kids and it has gone well, but has not lived with any. Yumi will need a cat-free home!If you’re looking for a loving, affectionate dog who’s eager to learn and cuddle, Yumi is the perfect match for you!If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional's recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal's history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

Meet Bojangles! This loving bully mix is just five months old and already the happy go lucky kind of dog that people dream of having. While adventuring and floating on the river are his favorite activities so far, this fella is also down for playing with other dogs. Despite his adventurous nature, Bojangles will also settle well in a crate and is totally up for snuggling with his person. If this sounds like the pup for you, please complete an application at https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Once the application is approved, a FaceTime will be set up for a virtual meet and greet. Since we are located in Mobile, AL, this will give you the opportunity to see the pet interact with other dogs, people, and see a bit of their personality. Transports leave every week alternating between the NE and the Great Lakes. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. Story
Meet Ford, a remarkable Bulldog whose presence is as powerful and steadfast as a mighty river. Just like the characteristics of his breed, Ford embodies kindness and courage, showcasing a unique blend of friendliness and dignity. Now you may not see it by looking into his gorgeous brown eyes, but Ford has suffered in his short life.... he came to the rescue from the streets with a HORRIFIC hernia on his back end, near his rectum. He required two surgeries to correct the hernia and allow him to have a normal life again. He came through with SHINING colors ;) With his well-muscled frame and low-slung stature, Ford is the epitome of a true bruiser, but it's his iconic "sourmug" face that represents his unwavering courage and tenacity. Despite his robust appearance, Ford is a docile and loyal companion, adapting seamlessly to any environment, be it the bustling city or the serene countryside. With Ford by your side, you'll experience the unwavering devotion and unmistakable presence of a Bulldog, a breed that leaves an indelible mark on your heart. Don't miss the opportunity to welcome this incredible Bulldog into your life, as Ford's unique spirit will bring joy, love, and an unmistakable charm that only he can deliver. Some basic information about Ford; he is male, a Bulldog mix, and is medium-sized (20-59lbs). Ford is not great with other dogs (or cats or other critters) and would be best in a home with either only adults or older children and as a single dog. But his heart will fill your home with all the love you need!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
History: 🧡 From Texas to Midwest 🤠—- A group of deserving dogs was recently welcomed as part of our Texas Transport Program! A program launched to make an impactful difference for our partner shelters in Texas facing the overpopulation of animals with limited resources and low adoption rates. We are excited to help these southern gems find loving forever homes to call their own! A Note from the Foster: Tessa is a sweet little firecracker! Approx 6 months old and 30lbs of shy and calm, until she warms up! This little one is a fantastic lap dog, enjoys snuggling up and giving kisses. Great with kids and other dogs, or simply on her own. She is fabulous in her kennel over night and for nap time. We are practicing potty training, and she is making great progress! Just a sweetie. Story
History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue Effort was a great success in welcoming over 180+ animals to rescue from rural areas in North Dakota before the cold set in. These animals are all so deserving and thankful to get a second chance in finding a forever home of their own! A Note from the Foster: I now have a name…my foster mom named me Sprocket and I like being called by that name! A sprocket is something that engages with something else to make it work. That is definitely ME! Add me to your family and we can work together! My first 2 years I lived in northern North Dakota and I am now living in a warm foster home. Everyone says I am strong, so they gave me a gentle leader that goes across my face and now I don’t pull my humans much. I am a very fast learner; know sit and how to shake with my paw. I am starting to understand wait and stay(unless it’s food). My foster mom says I am very food motivated and willing to learn. I am potty trained, sleep all night in a kennel, and up to date on all medical which means I am up for adoption. Oh one more thing….I am not a couch potato….I don’t even look at furniture, I like a comfy bed.

Story
A Note from the Foster: This sweet girl is looking for a forever home where she can continue her journey from puppy raising to living in a home as a beloved family member. Fallen needs an adopter who is willing to dedicate time to continue helping her learn how to go in a crate and settle in. To learn that going into her crate is a positive thing and it does not always mean humans are leaving. She isn’t excited to go into the crate and has shown us what she thinks of the standard plastic and wire crates. We are now using a special Ruffland crate and once she is in the crate, she seems relatively content with a stuffed frozen Kong, a safe chew toy, and some treats. We think that with time, training, and yummy food she will become more comfortable with this routine. This gentle girl will thrive in a patient home that understands she’s still discovering what it means to be a family dog. With patience, love, and training, Fallen will continue to blossom into the wonderful companion she was always meant to be. ❤️ Hey there, future family! My name is Fallen, but my foster family calls me “Dotty” because of my adorable spots! I currently live with my foster mom and dad, two cats, and a smaller dog. I really like ear, head, and back scratches -- who doesn’t?! I have also discovered that dog toys are lots of fun and dog treats are super yummy! What makes me extra special? My foster family seems to think I may be deaf, but I am able to hear certain things if they are loud enough or a certain pitch. They are working on teaching me some hand signals. A bit about me - I am: Dog-Friendly 🐶: I LOVE my furry foster sibling. Having another dog in the house has boosted my confidence and shown me what it’s like to be a dog. I often try to play with him, like following him around, and respond well to his cues. Cat-Friendly🐈‍⬛: I like the little furry purr machines in my foster home. One kitty is timid so she usually watches me from a distance. The other more outgoing kitty tries to play with me sometimes and even tolerates me when I try to instigate play with him. Aspiring Supervisor👀: What can I say? I am a curious girl who just wants to see what is going on. How can I help you if I don’t supervise your activities? Yard work, cooking, taste testing, folding laundry? I am here for all of it. Outdoor Enthusiast☀️🥾: I enjoy running around the fenced yard, exploring, sniffing, and sunbathing on the deck. I have been known to do zoomies when I am feeling extra silly. I would love a home with: A patient family who will continue to provide me with training and structure to help me learn hand signals and basic obedience. A fenced-in yard to help keep me safe. Humans who like a little adventure (walks, exploring, car rides) A dog companion (having a dog in my foster home has helped me to adjust and to figure out “how to dog”). My foster mom thinks I would really benefit from having another dog in the house to play with and to continue to provide guidance. If you’re looking for a sweet, loving companion and can help Fallen continue to learn and blossom, visit the CHDR website to learn more about her and our adoption process.
