You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  DOB: 10/01/2020 Requires another dog in home: No Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes, but comes on strong Okay with cats: Dog savvy cats only Okay with children under 12 years old: Unknown Weight: 49 pounds Requires a fenced yard: No Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hello, I’m Cobb, a delightful young adult male English Bulldog mix who is still figuring out what toys are all about. One of my current toys is a duck that has piqued my interest, but I don’t necessarily ‘play’ with it…I mainly just like to show it off to new people! Hee, hee!! My favorite activities include eating treats, meeting new people, napping, and snuggling with my humans. In fact, I’m a big teddy bear…the biggest cuddle bug ever and I would love nothing more than to lay down next to my person and get belly rubs all day! Hint, hint! I have been very excited to play with the cat but am still learning how to respect the whack-ya-in-the-face thing’s space. Ha, ha! As for kids and other dogs, I’ll be honest, I have very poor doggy communication skills. I mean all I really want to do is play with them but for some reason I come across as aggressive to not only the other doggies but their parents as well. I suppose it may be my size, I am after all, 50 pounds of solid muscle and sometimes don’t realize my own strength. I guess I just need some time and patience to get to know them first. Speaking of my strength, I can pull REALLY hard on the leash when I’m on my walks especially when I see another dog with whom I’m excited to play, so my new family will need to be capable have handling me. Anyway, I’m a smart boy who knows what “sit” means; I do well with the leash (other than my pulling-wink, wink); I’m potty trained on a schedule; and foster mom says I’m “an absolute dream” in my crate. Now although that may be true, it must be said that I would rather be wherever my people are than in the kennel/crate…I’m just sayin’! In addition to being a very sweet guy, foster mom says I’m “practically perfect in every way” which is totally true if I do say so myself. The only thing missing is who is the fur-ever home I so richly deserve with a patient, unconditionally loving family that will not only NEVER give up on me…YOU! I promise I’m worth it and I will brighten up your world! Love, Cobb *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses.  Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.  Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a   particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.     ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. WANTED - A family of my very own. Gomer here! I am also affectionately called Gomey, Goober, and Goofball just to name a few. I have been told I have the best personality to go along with my overall handsomeness. If you like having fun, and by fun I mean adventurous walks, unlimited treats, and boundless chew toys...then I want to meet you! Also, do you have a couch? This is what the volunteers & staff want to share about me:Gomer is EXTRAORDINARY! Why he hasn't found his forever home yet is just unbelievable. Don't let his age fool you Gomer loves life, and he has more energy than other dogs half his age. His list of "loves" is long, but all he really wants is a family to call his own and well...a COUCH and he will be a very happy boy! Gomer loves going on walks, and he will walk in rain or shine. He doesn't know he's a senior and we're not going to tell him. Another of his loves is FOOD. Gomer believes everything should be celebrated with food. During his walks he will sit and wait until he has been "awarded" a treat before continuing on. You guessed it, he hasn't met a treat he doesn't like! On walks he sometimes enjoys eating a little grass or chewing on a stick and if there is snow to taste, well he enjoys eating that too. Another of Gomer's loves is the KIDDIE POOL. Summers are not complete without frequent "swim sessions." He isn't actually "swimming" as much as he is "soaking" but again, we're not going to tell him. And on hot summer days he does love a good soak in whatever water is left that he hasn't lapped up! CHEW TOYS are also on his "why go through life without it list!" Can you guess? Yep, he hasn't met a boring toy yet either! He will sit happily by your side hopefully on a comfy sofa, while getting pet and chewing on whatever toy is close by. Gomer is super fun to walk and a dream on leash. He does well on group walks with other dogs but would do best in a home where he is the only pet. He has lived in a home with older respectful children and was good with them too. We long for Gomer to spend his remaining years knowing the comforts of a loving home. For his days to be filled with constant companionship and love. Somehow Gomer has figured out that we have been given this one life and he isn't wasting a second of it. So, if you think you have what it takes to foster or adopt a fun-loving active senior... RUN, don't walk to meet Gomer! (Note: Only homes with a couch need apply.)

Story
Location: Sioux Falls, SD Harry is a happy, silly little dude. I'm not sure what circumstances brought him to the shelter, but I do think that he was loved and cared for in his previous life, and I'd expect an easy transition into his next chapter. I've only had him four days, and every day he is noticeably calmer. This morning he peacefully snored right through my work calls, and he's now curled up next to me on the couch, having fallen asleep with a toy hanging out of his mouth. Future fosters and adopters are warned that he has a habit of draping himself across your lap and then passing out, forcing you to remain motionless until your legs fall asleep. Harry is potty trained. (Ok, he did have an accident on his very first day here, but I think he was just discombobulated.) He's also crate trained-he even eats in his crate. He knows that's where good things happen. I strongly recommend that his next home stick with crating him when he's alone. Like all curious kiddos, he explores the world by putting things in his mouth. And he's not picky! Fortunately, he is gentle and will let you take back your shoe, power cord, remote control, rock, etc., without any fuss. He's a great walker and mostly keeps a nice, loose leash. Squirrels and bunnies are distracting, but he moves on quickly. He is very interested in other dogs and sometimes howls with indignation when he is not allowed to meet them. I do think he just wants to play, but his people will want to keep working on good leash behavior. At the shelter he was selective with male dogs but played well with a female dog, and he lived with both previously. Overall, he's a sweet and snuggly guy, with a wonderful squishy face and a lot of love to give! --------------- The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org). Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, heartworm test (dogs), FIV/FeLV test (cats), dewormed, and microchip implant (including registration). Rescue Network is strictly foster based which means all adoptable animals are in a home and there cannot be a meet until an application is submitted and approved. We have no way of knowing the breeds in the animals. All breeds listed are best guess.

Hi I'm Ducati aka Dewey. I was surrendered to SHH at birth due to my cleft palate. When I receive application SHH will send additional information about my cleft - please make sure to read it thoroughly as it has lots of information you will need to know! From the foster: We call him Dewey. He loves to be with you all the time he fallows me around the house and loves to snuggle. He is a bit mouthy and loves to play with toys. Food is very important to him so training is easy. He is not potty trained but we take him out when we can and he goes. He loves to play with my puppy Sunny (Lab cleft palate) He is so easy to fall in love with. He's got a cute Crocked tail that he wags like a little hook.

Hi I'm Pup Tart I came to SHH as a newborn! From the foster: Pup Tart came into rescue with her siblings as an orphan newborn. Due to this Pup Tart did miss out on learning some important puppy lessons from her mom - Pup Tart would benefit from an adoptive home with a social friendly resident dog and a home that is up to continuing to help her socialize with people, other animals, and set up with critical puppy training. Hi! I'm Pup Tart and I am looking for my furever home! I came in to rescue as a tiny puppy with my siblings, but I seemed to have some urinary struggles as I was getting older. After my first appointment at the SHH Vet, the determined that the most likely cause for my struggles with my UTI most likely stemmed from a severely recessed vulva. The treatment plan for this was to use an antibiotic ointment on me for now to help prevent the infections. My medical care plan recommendation is that SHH Vet Center and my adopters wait until I have gone through my first heat cycle to be spayed. At the time of my spay the vet will determine if a vulvoplasty surgery will be necessary to help me maintain a good level of urinary health later in life. Both the spay procedure and +/- the vulvolplasty will be covered by SHH and any other care after adoption would be the responsibility of my new family. There will be an additional $500 deposit in addition to my adoption. This deposit will be fully refunded after I complete my spay procedure!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Plum but we affectionately refer to her as Alice, a name that seems to resonate well with her, even though her response to names is not particularly strong yet. Alice is thriving and displays a gentle and sweet demeanor, especially towards my 11-year-old son. Evidently, she has spent considerable time with children and relishes their company. She eagerly joins my son in bed, finding her way under the covers to peacefully doze off—a clear indication of her yearning for a permanent home. Alice's physical attributes contribute to her charm, boasting surprisingly soft fur and a tender face, possibly hinting at some American Bulldog lineage. She delights in showering affection by licking faces endlessly and enjoys being cradled on her back like a baby for extended periods. While she responds well to commands like "crate up," occasional reinforcement is needed. Generally quiet and composed once settled, Alice has never indulged in people food, eliminating any begging behavior. However, if something piques her interest, she positions herself as close as allowed, even attempting to snatch it if not deterred. Her recall skills, especially outdoors, are lacking, likely stemming from a past where she had ample freedom to roam. Reactivity and impulse control pose challenges, particularly around lawnmowers, other dogs, loud vehicles, and joggers. Her behavior around these situations can be unpredictable at times so it necessitates careful management with a gentle leader and harness. A friend, who is a dog trainer, has confirmed these challenges but believes they are not insurmountable, with patience and professional guidance. Residing in a wooded area with a fenced yard, Alice spends her time observing wildlife, offering a positive outlet for her energy. She coexists well with another dog in the household, and her occasional resource guarding has significantly diminished over time. Despite some stubbornness, Alice is bright and quick to learn when motivated. Her sleep habits lean towards a more laid-back hound-like pattern, not exhibiting an early riser tendency. Alice's athleticism shines through in the backyard, where she bounces energetically and engages in enthusiastic pursuits. It's worth noting that she has endured past abuse, evident in moments of flinching during seemingly innocuous activities, highlighting the importance of understanding her background in shaping her behavior. Overall, with the right guidance and patience, Alice, the sweet and spirited dog, has the potential to overcome her challenges and thrive in a loving forever home. Plum is from a local impound. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hi, I'm Thalia!  I am great with dogs of all sizes and love to learn all about this new life. I have a huge bulldog smile and love showing it off!  I walk well on leash outside and love to check out this new world.  I am kennel trained and keep it clean, while being quiet and resting until you come back home!  Potty training is going well, when I am kept on a good consistent schedule.  Right now, I do go potty in a fenced yard, but if you don't have a fence, we'd just have to work on pottying on leash together!  Foster mom says I am not a flight risk because being right near you is my favorite place to be - in fact, sometimes the humans trip over me because I'm right under them!  I'm a quiet girl and have not made a peep since being here, so if you are in an apartment or have shared walls, that would work for me! I'm a happy, fun loving girl who is ready for my family so I can keep learning and exploring! Is that you? Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared.  Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses . Bulldogs are a member of the Brachycephalic breed and therefore have a host of health issues that may arise.  Because these dogs are new into our rescue, health issues in the future may arise that we are not aware of.  Some of these issues are allergies, eye issues, yeast infections, interdigital cysts, slipped disks in their back, breathing problems, among a host of others that can occur at any time or when seasons change. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure the breed is a good fit for you and your family.  It is estimated that the average bulldog owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs.    Bulldogs are one of the most expensive dogs to own, maintain, and rescue and our adoption fees reflect such expenses.  The application process for bulldogs usually moves quite quickly as they are a popular breed, so we ask that adopters do research and be prepared for adoption at the time you submit your application.  They are happy, goofy, playful characters and we are excited you are taking the first steps into rescuing one!   This dog requires an application fee.  This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Bulldog Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the bulldog. Our goal is place bulldogs in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the bulldog, we will not approve your application. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi!  I’m Daffodil and although you might think that’s a funny name, you just watch me bloom!  It’s been a slow adjustment to being in a home but I’m blossoming more and more every day. My people are so proud of me!  I’m still a little shy but have finally felt comfortable enough to come out of the crate and explore for a little bit. I'm a shy girl so need a little time to acclimate to my new environment. I'm not ready for snuggles yet, but I am working very hard on being brave and will someday! I haven’t a CLUE what toys are but occasionally I’ll entertain you (and myself) by chasing my tail. I almost got it!  I’m not really food motivated, but I do like yummy treats more than toys right now. I have other big dogs in my foster home that have shown me all kinds of great things about being a dog - they have been helpful in getting on a potty routine. We like to eat our dinner and then go outside right away to do our business. They are also trying to show me which treats are yummy. I ignore the cat in my foster home - not sure what the big deal is so likely I would be fine with small dog. Not sure what I think of kids since I'm not used to a lot of commotion, but older kids are likely fine.  My people said I am a quiet girl – you won’t hear me bark much, not even in my kennel. I am a good girl in my kennel and prefer to be in there even when my foster is home.  My crate is always open so I can go in there and feel safe. I have gone a few places with my foster family - while I wasn't super worried in the car, they said I wasn't totally relaxed enough to enjoy it. Like everything else, the  more exposure, I’ll likely come to like it. I’m potty trained and crate trained, I do great on a routine. My people walk my around the yard on a leash and I do my business. I don't need a fenced yard as long as you are committed to continue leash training with me.  I don’t seek out being petted but I sure enjoy it when you come to me to do it.  Please be patient with me and I promise to be patient with you!  All I need now is a forever family with patience, unconditional love and a daffodil size spot in your heart for me to grow!   Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  DO B:  05/01/2018 Requires another dog in home: Yes, a social and confident dog  Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes Okay with cats: Yes Okay with children under 12 years old: Yes Weight: 43 lbs Requires a fenced yard:   Yes, needs a fenced yard Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. I am pretty proud of myself!  I’ve come a long way since I first came here and I’ve learned so much thanks to the other dogs in my foster home, so I do require a social and confident dog in my forever home. That will help me gain confidence, get on a routine and learn all the important dog things! It does take me a while to warm up to both people and new dogs, but once I do, I am less afraid. My people are working with me on my dog skills. We started practicing walking on a leash and I freeze! But if you promise to keep practicing with me, I don’t need a fenced yard in my forever home. I am hoping you have patience while we both learn what works best for me and you. We are also working on my potty skills. I know I supposed to go outside but get a little worried, so foster mom carries me out the door and sometimes has to carry me back inside. Sometimes I get worried and do a little tinkle inside the house when I’m excited, this includes little accidents in the kennel too. I am trying my best to be brave, and I know in a calm home and full of patience we can practice together.   Everyday I am blossoming a bit more – I recently started showing interest in dog toys and foster mom was so excited! I have also started to wander around the house and not hide in my kennel. Foster mom used to have to coax me to into other areas of the house, but I am gaining some confidence by following the other dogs around. I am a timid but happy girl and would thrive in a home that has the patience to help me learn how to be the best dog I can be. My ideal forever home will be able to provide a safe space for me, has experience with shy dogs and loads of unconditional love! It may take a while, but I promise if you try your best I will too! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. In addition to normal pre adoption surgeries, Betty also had surgery on her nares and soft palate to improve the quality of her breathing. This is reflected within her adoption fee. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
