Story
Meet Kobe! A soulful eight-year-old American Pitbull Terrier currently in Nevada City, CA, whose gentle eyes and black-and-white coat hold the wisdom of a dog who’s rediscovered joy and peace under the sun. A true connoisseur of quiet moments and cozy naps, Kobe is a low-energy sweetheart who lives for sunbathing, leisurely strolls, and being your steadfast companion on the couch. Kobe is calm, loyal, and thoughtful, a "golden bachelor" who’s come through tough times and emerged with a quiet strength and a big heart. He's currently learning to trust again and is thriving with structure, gentle guidance, and plenty of praise. Treats are definitely his love language, and he proudly shows off his "sit" command when he thinks a snack may follow! Just be sure to let him enjoy his meals in peace, he prefers dining solo and appreciates clear boundaries around food. Around other dogs and even cats, Kobe is friendly and social, just don’t invite him to dinner with friends! He’s more of a “me time” eater. He does best in a calm environment where routines are respected and energy stays balanced. He can get a little stubborn, but clip on a leash, give him a second, and he’ll happily waddle along with you! This 50-pound gentleman is house-trained, crate-trained, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He may benefit from joint supplements as he ages, especially after one of his classic "downward dog" yoga stretches, which he loves to show off! Even better? If you copy his stretch, he’ll trot right over for a tail-wagging cuddle session! Kobe is looking for a quiet, caring environment with a guardian who respects his boundaries and sees the beauty in slower-paced companionship. While he’s not the right match for homes with young children, he’s ready to bring a warm, loyal presence to the life of someone who values connection and comfort. Are you ready to share your sunny spot and your heart with a mellow nap buddy like Kobe? If you’re interested in providing Kobe with a loving home, please email meetme@joyfulpets.com for more information about adopting him. Please note that Kobe is currently in foster care through one of our trusted rescue partners and will remain with his foster family until the right match is found. Because rescue-partner pets are managed directly by their respective organizations, their adoption process, requirements, and fees may differ from Joyful Pets’ direct rehoming program. Our team will be happy to connect you with the rescue and help guide you through their process to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Story
Meet Blue! A vibrant four-and-a-half-year-old American Pitbull Terrier/Labrador Retriever mix currently living in Newport Beach, CA, whose heart is as big as his playful spirit and whose sleek black coat is kissed with charming white accents. Blue is the ultimate adventure buddy with a soft side. Picture a dog who’s just as thrilled to race alongside your bike or splash through the waves at the beach as he is to curl up next to you for forehead kisses and belly rubs. He’s an expert at fetch, tug-of-war, and sunbathing after a good play session. If there's an open field, he’ll run like the wind! And when the fun winds down, you'll find him lounging quietly, either snoozing in his favorite spot or keeping your feet warm at the end of the bed. This medium-sized, 55-pound pup is incredibly smart, food-motivated, and well-versed in commands like sit, stay, come, paw, and even a little spin! He’s house-trained, crate-trained, and thrives on routine. Blue enjoys his meals, loves his walks, and is most relaxed in a calm, predictable environment that is low-traffic. However, Blue’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges. Due to some significant life changes and environmental stressors, he’s developed anxiety that can lead to territorial behavior, particularly around other dogs when he's near his trusted human. While Blue has peacefully shared space with dogs during structured walks, he has also shown reactive behavior and has bitten two dogs who approached too closely while he was with his guardian. These incidents appear to be rooted in protectiveness and anxiety rather than general aggression. He is not compatible with cats and can be selective with other dogs. He would thrive as the only pet in a quiet home with experienced, patient caregivers who understand behavior management and are committed to continuing his training journey using positive reinforcement. Blue has shown a loving bond with a child in his home, but because he can be overwhelmed by high energy and loud environments, he would do best in a home without young children. A fenced yard or access to regular outdoor activity is key, this boy needs space to run and explore! Blue is currently on a fish-based diet to support his allergy needs and receives a yearly allergy shot that helps him stay healthy and comfortable. Loyal, goofy, and incredibly affectionate once he bonds with you, Blue is ready to run, play, and love with his whole heart! Could your home be the calm, active space where Blue finds his new beginning? To learn more about adopting Blue, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com. He’s ready for his next great adventure! Are you? Story
Meet Tucker! An affectionate and loyal four-and-a-half-year-old American Pitbull Terrier mix currently living in Redondo Beach, CA, whose heart is as big as his sturdy, 72-pound frame. Dressed to impress in a sleek black coat with a distinguished white patch on his chest, Tucker is a loving companion looking for a calm, structured home where he can truly shine. Tucker is a professional cuddler at heart! His favorite place to be? Right by your side, soaking up all the love and attention you can spare. Chewing on bones is another of his simple joys, and he’s happiest when the world feels peaceful and predictable. Thanks to his formal obedience training, Tucker is quite the scholar when it comes to commands—he knows sit, shake, down, stay, come, heel, and even place. This makes him an excellent candidate for someone who appreciates a smart dog eager to show off his skills. Tucker thrives in a routine: two daily walks, followed by hearty meals, and cozy downtime in a safe, quiet space. A fenced yard would be a bonus for this medium-energy pup, giving him the freedom to stretch his legs while feeling secure. Tucker has had incidents in the past where he has bitten when startled, which makes it important for him to find an experienced caregiver who understands his needs. He does best in calm environments without children or other pets, where he can avoid situations that cause him stress or anxiety. Loud noises, busy areas, and interactions with certain animals can make Tucker uneasy, but with patience, love, and consistency, he can thrive. While he may take time to warm up to new people, once he bonds with you, his loyalty and devotion are unmatched! Tucker is crate-trained, house-trained, vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He also takes medications to help with his anxiety and allergies, which will need to be part of his ongoing care. Are you ready to meet a dog whose heart is just waiting for the right person to unlock its full potential? Tucker is searching for a new loving home that understands him and will help him feel safe and cherished. Could that be you? Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about Tucker!

Story
Bruce is a very special boy. I love him. I have had him long enough to know how he thinks and what sets him off. I believe in being 100% transparent as I do not want to fail any of our beloved dogs. I expect the same from adopters. Bruce likes a quiet indoor environment with limited time outdoors. He likes short walks but even then he will just lay down and not budge. He does not like loud noises like drills or other mechanical things he will get upset. He is very smart and understands when he is being spoken to but he is stubborn. I do not recommend any children. (he will not do well with kids) I do not recommend other pets. (We have had him around other dogs and he gets along until something upsets him.) Bruce needs a very calm home.

Story
Meet Johnny Cash! A spirited three-and-a-half-year-old Boxer/Husky mix currently in Los Angeles, CA, whose essence is a thrilling blend of wild adventure and devoted affection, all wrapped in a striking brindle coat with charming white accents. Cash is a powerhouse of energy and joy, perfect for someone who craves the open trail, a daily runner’s high, or the quiet satisfaction of a long mountain hike. With his strong, athletic build and endless stamina, he's happiest logging 8 to 9 miles beside his human. He’s not just a running buddy, he’s the kind who’ll carry his favorite chew bone to greet you at the door and then snuggle up close when the day is done. At home, Cash is a big-hearted cuddlebug! He adores cozy time with his human family, especially the younger crew, he’s gentle and affectionate with his guardian’s nephews, ages 10 and 13. His play style is impressively adaptable: he loves a good rough-and-tumble with a young Ridgeback, but can switch gears to match the gentler vibe of his senior Staffordshire Terrier pal. That said, Cash has shown a preference for his canine companions and can be selective, he gets along well with some dogs but has made it clear he's not a fan of Frenchies. Cash is house-trained, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and obedience-trained. He knows sit, down, heel, go to place, and more! He thrives on structure and routine and is content being alone for up to six hours. Due to a sensitive stomach, he’s on a hydrolyzed protein and dehydrated diet, which has worked wonders for his digestion. Now, Cash isn’t the right match for every household, his high prey drive is strong and non-negotiable. Shortly after being adopted at five months old, Cash severely injured the family cat. While the cat made a full recovery, the incident required veterinary care, and during the chaos, family members were bitten while attempting to separate the animals. He continues to show intense prey drive toward small animals, and he cannot live with cats or be trusted off leash under any circumstances. He pulls toward squirrels and small dogs on walks and must remain securely leashed at all times outdoors. He needs a guardian who understands and can confidently manage this behavior. Despite these challenges, Cash has a loving heart and a joyful spirit. Could you be the experienced, active pet parent Cash needs to thrive? Email adopt@joyfulpets.com and take the first step toward adventure and a whole lot of love!

Story
Meet Baby! A soulful six-and-a-half-year-old American Pitbull Terrier/Boxer mix currently living in Menlo Park, CA, whose heart is as big as her brindle-and-white frame and whose journey is nothing short of miraculous. Rescued from euthanasia on New Year’s Eve 2024, Baby stepped into the new year with a tail wag and a spirit full of hope! She’s a sweet, affectionate girl who thrives on belly rubs, squeaky toys, and romping around the house or the yard with her favorite humans. Whether she’s tossing a squeaky tennis ball in the air or curling up for a midday nap, Baby brings warmth and joy to every moment! She’s especially wonderful for someone who works from home. She’ll quietly entertain herself with puzzle toys or nap peacefully nearby, but she’s always up for a game of indoor fetch, a stroll around the block, or a breezy car ride. With soulful eyes and a go-with-the-flow vibe, Baby is equal parts loyal sidekick and playful spirit. Baby is incredibly intelligent and already knows sit, down, and wait. Plus, she’s always eager to please! She does require some special care due to underlying allergies, chronic ear infections, and an upcoming surgery for a small mast cell tumor. Her caregivers are actively fundraising to support her continued medical needs, and she remains bright, loving, and full of life through it all. She also has an old ACL injury that doesn’t slow her down too much but may make her a little stiff after a big play session. Baby is dog-reactive and prefers not to share her space with other animals, except for her very best friend, Boogie. If you're considering a dynamic duo, Baby and Boogie would love nothing more than to find a home together, where they can continue their beautiful bond. A calm, pet-free home without small children would be the perfect environment for Baby to thrive. Are you ready to open your heart and home to a gentle, playful girl who’s ready to be your favorite coworker, cuddle buddy, and walking partner? Reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com and let Baby bring her beautiful light into your life! Content Notice: This pet is represented by Joyful Pets.
