Story
Penny was found in the desert of Phoenix in 2018, and adopted by us soon after. She has moved with us from Phoenix, to Denver, and to LA. She loves walks, but can pull really hard in excitement. She loves cuddles and kids. Will snuggle with you 24 hours a day if she could. And she snores, really loud. She is very particular with other dogs, and has lived with a male chihuahua since she was adopted, but other dogs, it is unpredictable as she gets territorial. She has very sensitive skin which causes rashes and skin tags, but that won’t stop her from laying in the grass and watching the clouds. She is so sweet with people and deserves a home with a yard or outdoor space.

Story
Meet Hannah, a sweet and affectionate girl who’s been part of our family for the past five years. She adores cuddling with our kids, basking in the sun, rolling on her back, and napping by my side while I work. However, Hannah now needs a new home where she can thrive. When we adopted her, she was a greeter dog at the South LA Shelter, known for being great with kids, dogs, and cats. She even earned an A+ at doggy daycare. Unfortunately, our family faced a life-altering event when our young son was diagnosed with cancer, forcing us to move in with my elderly parents. Hannah, being too much for them to handle, spent the next year and a half in foster care. She did best with an experienced dog trainer and two large dogs during this time. Since coming home in 2020, we've discovered that Hannah can be selective about other dogs and new people. She’s had successful playdates at her trainer’s facility but doesn’t get along with our other dog, leading to two fights in the past three years. She also gets anxious around unexpected visitors, occasionally nipping but never leaving a puncture. With proper introductions on a leash, she’s been sweet and friendly. We’ve tried everything—training, baby gates, and changing our routines—but it's clear Hannah needs a home with a pit-savvy owner who understands her behavior. Recently, she slipped out the door at a friend’s house and was injured in a scuffle with another dog. Her trainer believes she can succeed in the right environment and has generously offered to board her for a couple of weeks while we search for her forever home. Hannah is a loving dog who needs structure and a firm, experienced owner. We’ve poured years of effort into her because of her incredible heart, and now we’re asking for help in finding her a safe and loving home.

Story
This beauty queen with perfect ears is looking for her forever home! Dubbed "the perfect pocket pittie," she was named Chilli after her favorite show, "Bluey." She is 50 lbs, approximately 3 years old, and is an energetic girl who just wants to be around her people whether it's on the couch or in the car en route to the beach. She is crate-trained, dog friendly and has been good with kids while her exposure has been minimal. Chilli's story is a mystery as she was found on the street in South LA post-partum, scared, and separated from her puppies who were never found. The couple who found her quickly learned that she had a heart condition that required an expensive fix, and knowing the strain currently on the shelter and rescue system would put a dog like her at immediate risk, chose to foster themselves with help from Ace of Hearts, Angel City Pitbulls, Stand Up for Pits and Free Animal Doctor. We are happy to report that her surgery and recovery went perfectly and she will live a long, happy and healthy life with her forever family. She is also spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. Chilli requires a patient home due to some understandable initial stranger danger. The couple has been taking Chilli to group training classes and working with a trainer 1:1 to build her confidence. It has been going incredibly well and they are happy to make introductions and help facilitate an easy transition. What You Should Know About Chilli: Housebroken and crate-trained, Chilli sleeps soundly through the night without a peep. She'll greet you with a happy dance each morning and patiently waits for her food. She’s an Olympic Gold Medalist in snuggling and is working hard to perfect her leash manners. While she can get a bit excited on walks, she’s easily redirected. Chilli’s food-motivated nature makes her a great helper in the kitchen, but she’s never too eager to swipe anything off the table. Though she may take a little time to warm up, once she does, Chilli is the most loving, floppy, and joyful companion you could ask for. She’s playful, curious, and communicates her needs well. She’s had limited exposure to kids but has done well with the few she’s met. If Chilli is your soul dog, she’ll be your loyal best friend, whether you’re cuddling on the couch, enjoying a day at the beach, or heading out for a road trip. She’ll thrive in a patient, loving home and will give you everything and more in return. In early July, Chilli underwent a successful balloon valvoplasty to repair her pulmonic stenosis, thanks to the generosity of over 150 donors. She’s now fully recovered and ready to live a long, healthy life with her forever family. Chilli is a truly special dog, and we hope you’ll fall in love with her just like we have.

Story
Hi, I’m Honey! As my name suggests, I’m as sweet as can be, with a beautiful honey-colored coat. I’m a 4-year-old female Pitbull mix, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and spayed. My foster mom has done a great job helping me get used to my kennel and potty training. I’m on the smaller side, weighing about 47 pounds, and currently eating Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin & Stomach to keep me feeling my best. I’m a happy, easygoing girl who loves to roam around the yard and occasionally get the zoomies when I’m feeling extra joyful! Indoors, I like to snuggle on the couch with my family. I’m not big on toys, but I enjoy chewing on plush bears and Nyla bones. I absolutely adore kids and people. I’m looking for a forever home where I can be the only pet, with a family that will be patient and continue working on my training. I’ve been through some tough times, so I need a little time to warm up. My ideal family will also take safety precautions and kennel me when I’m home alone to ensure I stay safe and out of trouble. If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal companion, I’d love to meet you!

Meet Darla! She’s a lovable, sweet girl around 6-7 years old and is spayed, house-trained, and knows how to use a doggy door. Darla is wonderful with children, especially my grandkids, and has a gentle, affectionate nature. However, she would do best in a home without cats. I’m looking for a caring, safe home where Darla will be loved and well taken care of—she truly deserves it. If you’re looking for a loyal, family-friendly companion, Darla could be the perfect addition to your home!

Meet Krypto: A Special Dog Looking for a Special Home! Krypto’s journey hasn’t been an easy one. Surrendered to the shelter with his brother, he watched as his sibling was adopted right away—while he was left behind. Not only is Krypto deaf, but he also came in with a limp in his front left leg and major skin issues. Due to his medical needs, he was placed on the euthanasia list. Thankfully, a dedicated volunteer brought Krypto’s situation to our attention, and Maison Sure stepped in to save him! He was immediately taken to CARES, where he was examined by both an emergency veterinarian and a board-certified surgeon. Krypto was diagnosed with a severe skin infection (which has since been treated), and X-rays revealed severe elbow dysplasia in his left front leg. Unfortunately, because it wasn’t treated when he was a puppy, his elbow developed abnormally, leading to early-onset arthritis. Surgery is no longer an option, but we are actively working on arthritis treatments to help manage his condition and improve his comfort. Despite everything, Krypto’s spirit shines bright! He is an incredibly smart and loving dog who is thriving in his foster home. He enjoys short walks, snuggling with his foster brothers, and playtime. His wonderful fosters, who are also deaf, have been teaching him sign language cues—and they are eager to help his future family continue his training! Krypto is looking for a forever home that will embrace his unique needs and love him for the incredible dog he is. If you’re ready to open your heart to this special boy, Krypto will return your love tenfold. Will you be the one to give Krypto the happy ending he deserves?

Story
Meet Buddy! A lively almost two-year-old American Pitbull Terrier from Daly City, CA, whose playful spirit is as bold and beautiful as his dark brown brindle coat. This affectionate and energetic pup has been through a big change—his beloved pet parent passed away, and now he’s looking for a new, loving home where he can continue to grow, play, and snuggle his way into someone’s heart. Buddy is a social butterfly when it comes to other dogs and would love a canine sibling or regular playdates to keep him entertained. His favorite pastimes include romping around with his dog friends, chasing after his favorite ball, and carrying his beloved stuffed toys everywhere like little treasures! He’s also a smart boy who has mastered commands like sit, down, heel, and come—his dedication to learning makes him a fantastic companion for someone who enjoys training and positive reinforcement. He spends his weekdays sharpening his skills at training, and since he’s crate-trained, he’s comfortable being left alone for short periods. Though Buddy is a sweetheart with those he trusts, he does take time to warm up to new people. In the past, he has been a bit nippy, so he’ll thrive with a patient and understanding caregiver who can continue helping him build confidence and feel secure in new situations. Because of this, a dog-savvy home—preferably with experience with pit bulls—would be the best match for him. While he’s a superstar with other dogs, cats are not his favorite roommates, so a feline-free home would be ideal. One of Buddy’s most endearing qualities is just how much he loves affection. He’s a champion snuggler who leans into kisses and cuddles, and if given the chance, he’ll happily curl up right next to you at night! He’s a happy boy with so much love to give, and he’s ready to bring joy, laughter, and companionship to a home that will cherish him. Could you be the new loving family Buddy is looking for? Story
Meet Minnie! A spirited approximately three-year-old American Pitbull Terrier mix from sunny Los Angeles, CA, whose essence is a radiant blend of sweetness, smarts, and sun-soaked snuggles wrapped in a fawn brindle and white coat. Minnie is that rare kind of pup who can keep up with your weekend adventures but is just as happy curled up next to you on a lazy afternoon. Weighing in at a fit 50 pounds, she’s the perfect size for outdoor fun and couch cuddles alike! With a heart as big as her smile, she knows all her basic commands—sit, stay, down, come, paw, and wait—and walks well on leash, though she might get a little bouncy when squirrels or other dogs make an appearance. She's been working hard on staying calm in those moments, especially with the help of some tasty treats—her ultimate motivator! A true Southern California soul, Minnie’s love for sunbathing is unmatched. Give her a warm patch of sunshine, and she’ll be in her bliss! She adores toys of all types, especially snuffle mats, squeaky plushies, chew toys, and a good ol’ game of tug. While her fetch game is still a work in progress, her enthusiasm for tennis balls and Chuck-It toys is pure joy! Minnie thrives in a calm, structured environment and would be happiest in a cat-free home with older children. While she can be selective about her canine companions, she may do well with a balanced or equally rambunctious male dog who can enjoy her rowdy play style. A young girl still making sense of the world around her, she's not a fan of motorcycles or vacuums, and prefers slow controlled introductions to new guests in the house. But give her time, structure, and lots of love, and she blossoms into a loyal, cuddly companion who loves to give kisses and stay close by your side. Minnie is crate trained, house-trained, microchipped, spayed, and up to date on vaccinations. Could your home be the sunny landing spot Minnie’s been searching for? Reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about this lovable sun-chasing sweetheart!

Meet Daisy, a charming 8-year-old English Bulldog with a heart full of love and a friendly spirit. Daisy is a social butterfly who gets along wonderfully with both dogs and cats and is great with everyone she meets. Her affectionate nature shines through in her love for snuggling and being close to her human friends. Daisy is currently recovering from TPLO surgery on her right knee and will soon undergo a second TPLO surgery and hip surgery on her left side. Despite her past cruciate tears and hip dysplasia, her prognosis after recovery is very promising, and she’s showing her resilient spirit every day. Due to poultry allergies, Daisy is on a beef-only diet, but aside from that, she has no other medical concerns. She’s an intelligent and quick learner, making her a joy to train and interact with. Daisy’s loving and gentle demeanor makes her a perfect companion for anyone looking to share their home with a sweet and resilient dog.
