Story
A SWEET, ACTIVE & SMART FELLOW: Approx. 3 years old / Approx. 36 lbs. Hi, my name’s Connor! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control & was adopted for a few months, but my owner was having some health issues, so I came back to Mostly Mutts, & I can’t wait to meet my furever family very soon! I previously got to participate in the prison/foster training program & learned a lot, so when a spot opened up to go back & brush up on some skills, I jumped at the chance! Please inquire at 770-272-6888 to find out when I'm available to meet. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met dogs at Mostly Mutts and showed my teeth & seemed uncertain of how to engage when they wanted to play. It’s best I be an only dog. / I met a cat at Mostly Mutts &we all agree that I should not live with cats. / I met a boy & girl around 10 years old at Mostly Mutts & liked them. Since I’m bothered by rough housing & even sometimes when people hug, kids age 15+ who understand this may be a better fit. Let’s meet! • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: My charming nature is accented by my beautiful, soulful eyes. My trainers in the prison/foster training program say that I am smart, but also very strong-willed so I would do best with a strong leader with dog experience who will be consistent with rules& boundaries. A temp. foster said I did a bit of counter-surfing & play humping when I first arrived, but these are trainable behaviors so please ask about that. Please keep your belongings picked up, as I tend to pick up anything I can find, & please have lots of sturdy toys for me. I have a dominant nature & crave physical & mental stimulation - let’s play games & try agility training! I love to go on outings with the nice volunteers . . . trails, backyards, playing with my favorite old sock I found in the backseat . . . I’m even getting used to dipping my toes in the stream to cool off . . . it’s all so much fun! / My energy level is 5-7, so I’ll want regular daily exercise & lots of mental stimulation & continued training. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I’m a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program so I’ve mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ & ‘place’ commands. I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners as well as accept nice strangers without jumping. I have reacted to people touching or rough-housing & my trainers have a technique that works with me on or off leash — please ask about this. / I do well in my little room at Mostly Mutts. I barked a bit in my crate in my temp. foster home & made a fuss. I think I just want to be with them instead, but it may be best that I not live in an apartment/condo setting. Another temp. foster said I would not use the crate at all, but that I was great at taking naps with them, so maybe you’ll just let me sleep in bed with you. I slept well out of my crate in the prison/foster training program. / My potty habits are good on the Mostly Mutts & prison/foster training program schedules as well as in my temp. foster home! • LIKES/DISLIKES: I absolutely LOVE toys (de-stuffing some to make them floppy, lol), playing tug, Nyla bones, deflated basketballs & being with / chasing after / lounging with my people. I also like lots of ear & leg rubs. I’m a very vocal player, just so you know! I like to play fetch, but need a little work on dropping the ball so you can throw it again LOL. I also like to sleep under the covers . . . hint, hint. / I don’t like people rough housing (but my trainers have a technique to help me with this so please ask about that), the vacuum cleaner or loud noises. I get scared when hands come up fast near me. I don’t like thunderstorms so I wear a Thundershirt at the shelter during storms. I also don’t like to take my pill, but maybe you can try different pill pocket flavors that will help. You may need to put it in my mouth & rub my throat to help me swallow it. I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, & training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped & neutered. I am taking medication to help with anxiety. I may not need this once I’ve settled in my new home. I am looking for a dog-savvy family who will provide me with a lifetime of love and training! My adoption fee is $299.00, & I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga. September 29, 2023, 10:03 pm
