Story
Meet Oakleigh! Oakleigh is one of many dogs we have saved from rural Upson County lately. Being a very small, rural shelter the dogs are only held for a very short stray hold before they are at risk of euthanasia. Thankfully they have a very dedicated group of volunteers who work tirelessly to try to get the dogs to safety before their time runs out Oakleigh is about a year and a half old and 40 lbs - what a great age and size! She was very popular at the shelter and in social media postings trying find rescue placement for her because of her gorgeous coloring but alas that wasn't enough to save her, so RMG stepped in to make sure she would be safe.  Oakleigh is great with other dogs in her foster home and has learned that her crate full of soft blankets can be a great place for a comfy afternoon nap. She's very friendly and outgoing and will make one lucky family very happy! Could it be your family? Interested in adopting? Story
Meet Mocha! Mocha was one of 4 dogs we saved from death's door one cold November day in 2024. Having been found wandering on her own in a rural South Georgia county with a very small animal shelter, her days were numbered from the day she was picked up. Thanks to some very dedicated shelter volunteers, RMG was able to get Mocha to safety before her time was up Mocha is a super sweet pittie girl who just wants a person to love! Not quite 3 yrs old and around 45 lbs, Mocha loves playing with her other dog friends in her foster home and then going in to settle in for a quiet night of family tv time! Mocha would love nothing more than to find her very own forever family in time to go on all of the fun summer adventures coming up! Interested in adopting? Story
Three legs are better than four….go ahead, prove us wrong Yard was found as a stray in rural Upson County a few months ago. Anyone want to take a guess on why his name is “Yard”? We have no idea what happened to him in the past but it’s obvious he had an owner at some point - someone paid a decent amount of money to have his leg amputated. Whatever it was that happened to this poor boy, left him with the obvious physical scars and some not so obvious mental/emotional scars - this boy is TERRIFIED of a crate. Like lose his mind, injure himself trying to get out terrified. Luckily, though, he’s an absolute perfect gentleman who is 100% trustworthy outside of a crate. His foster has observed him on camera while he’s home alone and he simply naps on the most comfy bed he can find - no accidents, no destruction. On top of that Yard is also great with other dogs and loves people! He is truly one of the most gentle and loving souls to come through our rescue in quite some time! Interested in adopting? Story
Meet Tchaikovsky! Back on July 2, we rescued tiny little 7.5 lb Tchaikovsky - Chai for short. The very next day, this little guy broke with parvo. It turns out, not only did he have parvo but he was also FULL of coccidea and had a chicken allergy (very common and tends to cause GI upset). So little Chai - and his poor foster - battled diarrhea for quite some time. Not only did Warrior Chai kick Parvo’s butt, but he also doubled in size in the meantime - now weighing just about 15 lbs!!! Now that all of that nastiness is behind him, Chai is finally ready to start the hunt for his forever family! He’s about 10 weeks old now (Aug 1) and oh so so smart! His inquisitive nature sure did give his foster mom a run for her money while she was having to keep him quarantined! Since Chai missed out on the first half of the summer being in quarantine, he would love to join a loving, active family with at least one other adult dog in the home ASAP so that he can still get in on some of the summertime fun and festivities! Story
Meet Waverly!    Waverly came to us in early March 2024 with an unknown injury to her front leg. We didn’t know anything about what was going on except that she wasn’t putting any weight on her leg. Puppy or not, in a shelter that doesn’t allow any public adoptions an injury of any sort can be a death sentence. Other than not using her leg, Waverly was a happy, loving girl so we really didn’t expect her x-rays to look as bad as they did - a broken elbow right through the growth plate! After consulting multiple vets and surgeons, including Auburn University, everyone agreed the best course of action for her long term health and happiness would be amputation. Amputation surgery barely slowed Waverly down at all and now she’s completely recovered and happier than ever! Waverly just turned a year old just before Thanksgiving 2024 and doesn't even remember life before she lost her leg. She's great with dogs of all sizes. As a matter of fact, she’s great with everyone! This girl truly has never met a stranger! Interested in adopting? Story
Meet Chap!  Boy oh boy has this boy been through it!! Chap was a fan favorite in Upson County. When his day came, we just couldn’t stand the thought of dedicated volunteers suffering another heartbreak, so we said send him on up - even though the last thing in the world we needed was a 70 lb black pittie mix (black dog syndrome is real!). But wow are we so glad we saved him! Not long after we got Chap up to Atlanta, a kind woman reached out to the lead volunteer at the shelter. It turns out she had actually rescued Chap in Griffin! He had been wandering her neighborhood and surrounding areas on his own for quite some time. She took him in and found his owner who quite rudely explained they absolutely did not want Chap back. Determined to keep Chap safe, his guardian angel found him what was supposedly a loving home. Well, apparently that person decided to dump him too because he ended up in Upson County shelter as a stray.  Now that all of those trials and tribulations are behind him, Chap is ready to find his real true FOREVER HOME! Not only is he amazing with all other dogs - he has a special talent for helping the puppies - but he’s also so very sweet and LOVES toys! The woman who originally found him also said he was absolutely wonderful with her 4 and 9 yr old children.  So who’s ready to show this amazing and resilient boy what true love really is?
