Story
Joshua has the good looks to match his sweet personality! He's a baby at only a year old, and weighs around 55lbs. He has learned sit and down and loves showing off for yummy treats. He enjoys lounging in the shade on sunny days, rolling around with toys, and time spent with his shelter friends. He has done well with some dogs, but politely requests a home without cats or young kids.

Story
Kallua is about 9yrs old. She is the sweetest lil ole hippo woman. She likes her drinks straight, no mixers, no fancy stuff. She also likes her home to be hers and hers alone. No other pets...just straight Kallua. She promises to snore on the floor, on the sofa, on the bed, on the deck and any other flat surface you have. She like short walks, she does a little happy-tappy dance when she's excited. It WILL BE your favorite thing about her. Well, unless you are into big pittie smiles, that may be your favorite. Your choice!!

Story
There is a new Diva in the house. MELANIE is a full-figured rubenesque beauty. She has very clear ideas on how she wants to spend her time. Responding to commands is not on her agenda. Tops on the priority list?BUTT SCRATCHES. I have never seen so much dog booty as I saw with Melanie today. She walks nicely on leash. She will take treats sweetly. but 10/10 times I asked her to sit, she spun and backed her butt up.

Story
Jessamine has made a positive attitude adjustment. From here on out Jessamine is looking forward to happy days, fun adventures and new humans to love. She was with us before and now has opened up and showed her perky, fun self. This one is a pistol. She goes from sitting serenely, watching the action to "tails on fire" zoomies in the blink of an eye.

Story
** $480 in pledges to the rescue that pulls!** **Interested foster through rescue!** GINGER ACCT-A-125902 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to lack of space for incoming dogs, and length of stay. Ginger must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER OR RESCUE PARTNER by Wednesday, November 30th by 10:00am. Should Ginger's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Ginger is a beautiful, 11 month old black and white mixed breed dog who came in as a stray on 10/25. On arrival, it was noted by staff that she "flinched, and entered the exam room with tail tucked between her legs. After we gave her treats, however, she warmed up and allowed for a full exam, even rolling on her back to show us her belly. She was nervous about hands coming towards her head, but loves bum scratches." Her veterinary exam also noted that she has a possible "os clitoris" which protrudes from her vulva. She was observed to be urinating regularly, but she is at risk for recurrent urinary tract infections in the future (although none have been noted during her shelter stay). The area may also be a source of chronic irritation for her. Surgical removal would be ideal, or at minimum an adopter who is willing to pursue outside veterinary care (and surgery if recommended). On 10/29, a vet noted that Ginger had diffuse to generalized weals along the dorsum, lateral abdomen, and on top of her head and around her eyes. A possible hypersensitive reaction was suspected as lesions were not observed on a previous exam. Diphenhydramine was given, and there have not been similar skin reactions noted so far. On 11/1, Ginger came down with an upper respiratory infection that has persisted. She has been switched to a stronger antibiotic, as on 11/14 she was exhibiting bilateral thick mucoid discharge and an intermittent cough. It was noted by staff on 10/26 that she was reactive to new people entering a room she is already in, and needs a slow introduction to them. "Ginger was nervous in the kennel and was cowering in the front corner. I opened the door and she gave low wags and licked my hand, allowing me to leash her easily. She needed a minute or two of coaxing to exit the kennel. No issues returning. Ginger was shy at first in the room but quickly warmed up climbing onto the couch with me and rolling over for belly rubs. She was very affectionate and loose towards me. She had no interest in treats. While petting her she allowed me to check her teeth, ears, and look for a spay scar as well with no issues. However, when another staff member entered the room, Ginger charged her with hackles up, hard barking and growling. She was VERY reactive to any new people entering. She would calm down when I spoke to her and after a few minutes she stopped barking and approached the new staff with calmer body language, and low wagging, allowing pets. If any new people enter her space though she needs slow intros to them." Per volunteer 11/14: Ginger is a high energy puppy who is super sweet and so happy to go outside! She enjoyed running and sniffing in the dog run, and got really excited when she saw doggie friends, but unfortunately has a cold so wasn't able to say hi. She was easy to direct with food (especially high reward treats) when she got a little too excited and jumpy so seems like she'd be quick to learn some tricks and manners! Per Volunteer on a Day Trip to the park (11/19): Ginger went on a hike with us in Wissahickon park. Ginger behaved very well in the car. Ginger knows sit. Ginger initially was curious but calm on the trail. She was reactive toward cyclists but greeted everyone else (dogs and people) with a loose and friendly demeanor. However once we merged onto the main trail and started encountering more groups, Ginger quickly got overwhelmed. She was very anxious: whining, panting, pulling hard, even gator rolling at a few points when cyclists passed. Because she was clearly over threshold we decided to cut the hike short. Once we returned to the smaller, less busy trail Ginger relaxed some, but continued to be reactive to anyone who passed. She shows no aggression, only reactivity. Per volunteer 11/26 : petite girl who is shy in kennel but so happy outside! Extremely cute! Pulls mildly. Medium energy. Housetrained. Knows sit, not super interested in treats today. Several good fence meets w other dogs with loose body. Jumped at passerby when they got within 5-10 feet of her but easily directed with a change in direction. Likes to climb in lap and give face kisses. After warming up, this girl is super sweet and affectionate! Ginger urgently needs to leave with an adopter or rescue partner who can look after her medical needs, and give her plenty of decompression time in her new environment. She really likes other dogs, so may like to have a doggie friend! This wonderful young lady has so much potential with the right support. Per staff on 11/29: Took Ginger out with a volunteer and she was lovely! It was her first time meeting the volunteer and she did acted as if she has walked with him many times. She allowed him to easy leash her and remove her from kennel. Once out, she got very excitable and zoomed towards the door leading to outside. Once outside, she pulled on the leash and when would get excited, but otherwise walked well. She went to the bathroom outside and allowed all handling and petting. She sat for treats and would even sit in the middle of being walked. We walked her on the track and she enjoyed her time outside. She did not react towards strangers or those passing by, but was very content sniffing around. She was a very well behaved young lady who was very easy to return to kennel Video: NEW: Ginger giving love: https://youtube.com/shorts/L2iYjVsHKTs?feature=share NEW: Ginger sitting for treats: https://youtu.be/wPem5MAxL1Q NEW: Ginger walking on leash: https://youtube.com/shorts/UXj4Soqf-Hc?feature=share NEW: Meet Silly Ginger https://youtube.com/shorts/PwUQO6Hm53U?feature=share NEW: Bloop and Ginger Meet https://youtube.com/shorts/-RmzvAkBekc?feature=share Ginger gets comfy: https://youtu.be/oy_aMyo6Y38 Ginger getting pets: https://youtu.be/m9QkUt6WUT8 Ginger makes friends: https://youtube.com/shorts/rZpa7YY78ls?feature=share Ginger loves doggie friends!
