Story
We acquired Sappho 4 years ago from my partner’s daughter who realized shortly after rescuing her that it was too much to take on. Sappho is a mid energy, high drive dog that requires a lot of exercise. She is happiest when she can run and explore. Sappho is very sweet and wants lots of love but does have a history of resource guarding and anxiety. Sappho would do best if she were the only pet in the home. She does not always respect the personal space of other dogs even when getting along and she has nipped/bitten other dogs in our home when resource guarding. She has worked with professional trainers, has great recall, and listens very well. She walks on a prong collar and is e-collar trained. She is also crate trained at home and in car. She eats in her crate. When she is good, she is really good but Sappho needs experienced owners who will continue using the tools she has come to know. We would 100% keep her if we did not have an older, smaller dog in the home.

Story
Bikini came to us from a small rural shelter where her chances of getting out were very slim. She is a 2 yr old pit/catahoula mix and don’t let her breeds fool you. She’s a total couch potato! She has her moments of zoomies but they don’t last long. While she does live in a foster home with other dogs of all sizes, she is the queen bee and can be a little bossy so she is looking for a home with no other dogs. She loves all people she meets and she is potty trained and crate trained. She has good doggie manners but needs some work on her leash training. She is a puller on the leash but we’ve seen a lot of improvement with the ez walk harness. Bikini is located in Texas. Her adoption fee is $195 local or $395 out of state with transport and includes current shots, microchip, heartworm test and spay. If you are interested in adopting Bikini complete the adoption application at the link below. Story
Currently located in Chickamauga GA, with transportation available. Rosie came to us back in 2022 as a chained mother to a newborn litter of puppies. Her owner would not sign her over, though he did allow her to come stay with us while she nursed her puppies, and recovered. It was extremely tough though after having her vetted, we legally had to give Rosie back to her owner. Our hearts were broken. Well……fast forward nearly two years and Rosie is back with us! Her owner found himself in a tough situation and he knew we would always be there for Rosie if he ever needed to surrender her. She is having a blast being back “home”, millions of zoomies, hundreds of kisses, ridiculous amounts of toys being self tossed in the air and absolutely inhaling (and even stealing 🤣) the treat jar! We love this girl, and she always has a safe place to call home here, though having her long term means that we do not have the room to help others in need, and she definitely doesn’t get the time and attention that she deserves while here. She has lived on a log chain until she came to us, she is definitely lacking some proper socialization when it comes to mingling with other dogs, so at this time, we do think she needs to be the only pet in the home. While that cuts her adoption odds down to 5%, we are hopeful that the right person sees her listing at the right time and we can make a match! Rosie is absolutely beautiful, funny, and reeks of pure appreciation! Even though she has the right to hate humans, she is resilient and is great with all people including children. Please share her biography and visit our Facebook page for more pictures and videos. This really is an extra special girl! Story
Meet Bruce! Bruce is a 7-year-old good boy who is our current go to when you need something. Need a picture with a nice, easy dog, go get Bruce. Having a bad day and need a pick me up? Go take Bruce out. Bruce lives his life with a glass half full outlook. He's the kind of dog who just gets along with everyone - cats, kids, other dogs - you name it. Bruce is the life of the party (in a chill, mature-dog kind of way). Bruce is a huge fan of enrichment time! He lights up when he sees his Kong. A little mental workout and a tasty snack? That's the Bruce way. He was noted to be anxious when left alone, so he'll need a family who understands he feels safest when he's close to his people or has things to do to keep his mind busy. One of his favorite things is his soft blanket buddy to snuggle with and he loves ripping up toys. Bruce has been with us for weeks and we have not noticed him being overly anxious when alone. Does Bruce sound like the perfect match for you? Stop by the Adoption Center during open hours 11am-4pm Friday-Tuesday (closed Wednesdays). Story
Sally (approximately 55 pounds) was transferred to the NHSPCA from an overcrowded shelter in Texas. She is eager to please, treat motivated, and a fast learner. Her foster mama reports that Sally never barks, which is quite impressive for such a young & social lady! Sally is house trained and crate trained; she has never had a potty accident inside while with her foster family. She is still a bit of a puppy and will definitely chew up a dog bed, but she does very well with a warm snuggly blanket as her comfort. Once outside, Sally will have a burst of energy because she knows it is time to run & play. Her favorite toy is a rubber stick or ball, because her very favorite game is fetch. She even knows the "drop it" command! Sally is dog friendly & submissive with other dogs; she loves a good game of chase & wrestle with her doggie pals. Sally desperately wants to be someone's loving companion, and she is so ready to bring much joy to her fur-ever home. Come meet our precious Sally today! If you'd like to meet Sally and all her friends at the New Hampshire SPCA, please visit our Adoption Center during our open hours: 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. every day except Wednesdays (closed). Have questions? Call (603) 772-2921 ext. 110 or email info@nhspca.org today. Primary Color: Blue Secondary Color: White Weight: 24.6 Age: 2yrs 3mths 1wks
