Story
MEET MEL!Mel is a gentle companion looking for a new place to call home. Mel would be a low maintenance addition to a new home, since she is potty trained and needs only moderate exercise. Mel has lived with other dogs before, and could live with a low energy, respectful dog friend in her new home. She doesn`t ask for much, simply a quiet home with a comfy couch she can lie on, and an owner who will provide her with all the affection as she deserves. If this sounds like the gal for you, come to meet her today!Check out her video:Mel is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed, microchipped and seen by our vet team. For more information on Mel or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements.

Story
Meet Blue – A Loyal Companion Looking for a New Home Emergent, less than a week now to find a new home, or I will unfortunately have to surrender and he may face euthanasia because of his breed. Blue is a 4-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier who’s been my beloved companion since he was 8 weeks old. Due to my son's medical needs, I can no longer give him the time and attention he deserves. Blue is affectionate, goofy, and deeply loyal to his family. He’s protective and can be unsure around strangers, sometimes barking or growling, but he has never bitten. He needs a confident, experienced owner who can continue his training and help him feel secure. Blue should be the only pet in an adult-only home where he can be the center of attention. He’s not comfortable around other animals and may be too much for a home with cats or multiple pets. With patience and love, Blue will be an incredible, devoted best friend.

Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VTGood with dogs: Yes, with proper introsGood with cats: NoGood with kids: Older children only (16+)Crate trained: YesHouse trained: YesYou’ve heard of the Great Houdini, but without further ado, allow us to introduce the Great Santini!Unlike Houdini, the only trick Santini will pull is wiggling her way into your heart.Santini is a wonderful dog that has spent the last few months refining her training skills. Santini has excellent manners and is house trained and crate trained. She would love to show off everything she has learned including sit, stay, down, and heel (for a treat of course)! Santini is happy to fit into her humans' routine and picks up quickly on new commands. She is very accommodating, walks well on a leash, and corrects/redirects easily. Santini loves to play, but is also happy to hang out with her people around the house.Santini would do best as the only dog in the house with an experienced dog owner who can maintain consistent boundaries and expectations to help her succeed and feel reassured. She is an athletic gal who loves to chase after balls and show off her signature ‘hopping prance’. She would love to have a fenced in yard or a local fenced in area so she can show off her moves! When she has finally expended all of her energy you can find her searching for the best sunbathing spot to take a snooze in. Santini is a sweet, gentle soul who wants nothing more than to be loved and make you laugh with her goofy antics. Please Note: All dogs are posted until they are officially adopted. This dog may have other interested adopters in line. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website at www.lasthopek9.org.May 9, 2025, 1:55 am

Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VTGood with dogs: YesGood with cats: Yes, dog-savvy catsGood with kids: YesCrate trained: YesHouse Trained: YesMaxine is a sweet, spunky little girl with a heart full of love and a charming personality. She may be shy at first, but quickly shows her wiggly, happy self. She’s got a funny, endearing way about her and is always ready to play or cuddle once she feels secure. Maxine is a fairly relaxed pupper with fun bursts of playfulness balanced by quiet moments of rest. She absolutely thrives on love and gentle encouragement.Maxine does beautifully with other dogs and enjoys playing with pups of all shapes and sizes. She’s very submissive and gentle—her go-to move when unsure is to lie down and take it all in. She would likely do fine in a home with or without a doggy sibling. Maxine has been around kids of all ages and interacts with them very well. Maxine has interacted fine with cats and would love to be their friends, so she would do best with a dog-savvy cat.In terms of training, Maxine is crate trained, housebroken, and walks very well on a leash. She sees her crate as her safe space and can be found lounging in it during the day and sleeps soundly in it overnight. With time, love, and patience, Maxine is sure to become a loyal, joyful addition to her forever home. Are you ready to open your heart and home to Maxine? Please Note: All dogs are posted on our website until they are officially adopted.
