Story
Hey my name is Bridgette! I am a goofy, playful, and affectionate dog looking for an active owner who can offer lots of play time and quality one-on-one time. I am a well rounded dog who loves to have fun with toys, but also loves to chill and snuggle. I'm a fun-loving dog who loves to play chase, so a home with cats or young children wouldn't be a good fit for my exuberant personality. I could do well with doggie friend in my forever home, but new friends can be pretty exciting for me, so I would like to meet them at the shelter beforehand to make sure we are a good match.Foster Parent Comments: "Bridgette is the sweetest little gremlin. She is ready to go go go as soon as she wakes up in the morning but settles into a nice long morning nap after breakfast and some wrassling time. She absolutely loves playing tug with any toy, fetch (though we've had mixed results on her giving the ball back), zooming around the trees in the backyard, and loves to pretend she's in the WWE when she plays with her foster sister. She is eager to learn and has come so far in the year-ish she's been with me! We've been working on being calm when we pass other dogs who are barking from their yards and she's making great progress with the help of training treats and me being consistent on our walks. We found out last fall when she came up north with me that she loves playing in lakes and going on long hikes to smell ALL the smells. She's an adventurous eater, and we've determined bananas, bell peppers, broccoli, carrots, green beans, apples, and even brussel sprouts are yummy so long as they're cut into perfect bite sized pieces. She gives great gentle hugs, is always ready to give many many kisses, and loves to curl up on the couch or bed after a long day of shenanigans." Let Bridgette's bubbly personality float into your life! She will be a wonderful companion who will shower you with love, and bring so much joy and laughter into your life. With a little bit of time to settle in, Bridgette will surely blossom into your best friend! Bridgette is currently living in one of our wonderful foster homes. Adopting from foster is easy! Please email adoptions@hshv.org or call (734)662-5585 to arrange a meeting today!

Story
Nuggies is a bit of a shy guy, but once you're in his circle, he wants nothing more than to cuddle up and get some pets. He learns quickly and loves to train, especially if you can provide him some chicken nuggets for his tricks! He would love a home who will continue working with him on his training and help him gain confidence, especially around new people. He would prefer a quieter environment where he can relax, but also doesn't mind letting him run out his zoomies!

Story
Elizabeth is a very sweet girl, who can be shy when you first meet her but loves to cuddle and receive attention once she is comfortable.Elizabeth thrives living in a quiet neighborhood and also enjoys having a fenced yard to run around and play fetch. She likes short walks twice a day as well. She is petite and athletic, weighing in at 37 pounds. For enrichment, she enjoys her meals out of a Kong wobbler (which can be sent to her new home with her) and playing with toys. She responds well to positive reinforcement training. She gets along well with her dog foster sibling, but would like to meet any potential siblings before adoption to ensure it is a good match. She does have a strong prey drive, so needs a home without cats or other small critters.Elizabeth is currently living in one of our amazing foster homes! Adopting from foster is easy! Story
Aspen is incredibly affectionate and loving with her humans. One of her favorite activities is snuggling-anytime, anywhere! She is happiest when spending time with her favorite people and is all about long, adoring stares and cuddles. She is thrilled when you wake up in the morning and thrilled every time you come home. While she is still under 2 years old, she has an "old souled" quality about her and an emotional depth that's impossible to articulate but can be felt very immediately in her. If she were human, she would be a philosopher! She is also exceedingly smart and picks up new training skills/tricks at lightening speed.Aspen is currently living in one of our amazing foster homes! Story
Hi my name is Kimber! I am a shy kind of dog when I initially meet new people, but once I get comfortable, you'll see my true personality come out! I am a fun dog at heart! I love to run and play. I have a lot of energy and a TON of love to give. I am sometimes too much for other dogs, so it's best for me to meet potential doggie siblings before I go home with them. I am currently living in a Foster Home, here is what my foster mom has to say about me:"Kimber is doing really well and is such a sweet girl. She has her typical puppyish moments of zoomies etc but mostly just wants to relax, take naps in the sun or chew on her toys. She loves to go on walks and especially likes to walk in the creek, or any body of water she can find! I have found a couple of fenced in areas to take her where she can run and sniff unattached which she loves. It would be great if her adopter had a fenced in yard! Hopefully a good match will come along and get to meet her."Adopting from Foster is easy! Just contact the Adoptions Desk at 734-662-5585 or adoptions@hshv.org to set up a visit today!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  Princess loves who she loves with all her heart.  She would flourish in a home with no other dogs or cats.  It takes some time for her to warm up to you but once she dogs she is basically a Velcro dog, never leaving your side.  She is a medium energy level dog who could use a walk a day but would be fine missing a few here and there as long she could romp in the backyard a little.    She's come a long way from her days of living a life outside or in a trashed out vacant home in the D laying on dirty piles of old clothing in a dark and waterfilled basement.  She was unfortunately neglected for the majority of her younger years so she really needs a patient adopter who can focus all their love on her. Princess loves hugs and belly rubs and enjoys walks on lead.  she's crate trained and continues to be worked with some reactivity when she in in the crate.  But that doesn't keep her from being a loving and sensitive sweetheart.  Princes's birthday is August 2015Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 8, 2024, 4:23 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Adopt-a-bull Bronx is already happy to be with his foster brother Luca and the pair have bonded famously. Luca will help Bronx learn good social skills and we’re confident Bronx can go to a home with another dog and kids 14 and older. He’s a lanky tall boy who likes to run and burn energy.  Bronx’s ideal home would be an active couple, single, or family.  He has lots of energy and is most happy when he gets the chance to burn it off.  He would love to go to a family that would keep up on his training to ensure he continues to be the best boy possible.  He is great at our events and can be around people and dogs without an issue.  He also lives with 2 other dogs and gets along with them well.  His ideal doggie sibling would be a female medium to large female dog.  Of course, who can resist such a strong EAR game! Get those applications in for this guy! He won’t be available for long!  Bronx’s birthday is approximately 12/16/2021.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 8, 2024, 4:23 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Well, Elijah How is now thankfully a member of the Buster Family.  His name comes from how close he was found to Eliza Howell Park. We have dubbed him “Elijah How you wind up where you were all alone and hurt”?  We may never know what happened to him while running loose but it seems like he has nerve damage to his front leg.  Additionally, our boy is heartworm positive as well.  A super common but preventable issue for dogs kept outside in Detroit.  Don’t worry, we will get him all fixed up soon.  Most likely he will end up being a tripod (three legs) pup, but that’s ok.  He still gets around just fine.  He bonds quickly with seems to like other dogs.  We are working on getting him used to men as it seems he can be a little hesitant around them at the moment.  However, it is something we will work on and get him right as rain for his furever home!  His birthdate is around August 2020. Please apply to meet him at Busterdogs.comVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 8, 2024, 4:23 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.**UPDATE** Our girl Aspen is getting stronger and stronger!  She can move around very fast and now can walk on hardwood and other slick surfaces!  She still can't fully navigate stairs so a ranch or single story type home would be best for her. Her neuro consult found no pressing concerns.  So that news paired with her mobility improvements we think she'll be just fine hopping her way through life! Our miracle girl Aspen is an amazing example of dogs, and pitties especially, will to live!  We were contacted by a friend of the rescue who mentioned there were two female puppies living in a basement with their mom.  The “owners” claimed they didn’t even know the female was pregnant and they didn’t want the puppies.  When we got there we were told the one female puppy was given away, but we could have the last one.  We SNAGED her up right away.  She was lethargic and slow.  We quickly realized there was something going on.  She was young but should have been able to stand.  She wasn’t able to.  At worst we feared it was Distemper but thankful it was not.  It appears she has some type of neurological disorder.  It may be hypomyelination but she as an official neuro consult in March 2024!  The good news is she is getting stronger and more active each day.  She is hopping and jumping towards her foster mom and getting better and putting weight on her legs!  She wont give up and we wont give up on her!  Special needs dogs are a blessing, if you’re interested in learning more, please apply at busterdogs.comVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 8, 2024, 4:23 pm
