Luke is one of our longer resident dogs and we can't imagine why he's been overlooked. He's a big and strong guy but truly has a heart of gold. He is a friendly dog who generally likes everyone he meets, but he might knock over little ones. Luke might be selective with his dog friends so we recommend setting up a meet and greet before adoption to make sure it's a perfect match.Adoption Fee: $200, includes spay/neuter and all veterinary care as needed. If interested in meeting, please stop in during open hours, Tuesday-Saturday 12-5:00 pm. We recommend leaving your dog home for the first meet. Interested adopters can also fill out our application ahead of time at www.monroe-humane.orgPhoto Credit: Trevino Photography

Story
Rose is one of the prettiest dogs we've ever met! This 2.5 year old Bully mix girl is about as sweet as they come with every person she meets. Rose is energetic, but not too hyper and will likely be a couch potato after a good walk. We recommend bringing the entire family to meet her. Rose will need to be the only pet in the home, but isn't too reactive to other dogs on walks, etc.Adoption Fee: $200, includes his neuter and all veterinary care as needed. If interested in meeting, please stop in during open hours, Tuesday-Saturday 12-5:00 pm. We recommend leaving your dog home for the first meet.

Nami is a stunning Bully mix who is on the smaller side. She is well mannered in a home but does need a little patience with housebreaking. She will do best with older kids who are dog savvy. Sweet and nervous Milo doesn't love the kennel environment and is quite stressed here. Due to his nervousness he has trouble bonding with people but has several staff members he's grown close to. He enjoys the company of other dogs and we feel another confident dog in the home will help him build trust with his people. He will do best in a home without children due to his shy nature. We recommend setting up a meet and greet before adoption to make sure it's a perfect match.Adoption Fee: $200, includes his neuter and all veterinary care as needed. If interested in meeting, please stop in during open hours, Tuesday-Saturday 12-5:00 pm. Story
Hi, I'm Ace and you will hit the jackpot if you adopt me!. I'm a good boy and a bundle of endless energy and I love to PLAY, PLAY, PLAY! I also love to RUN, RUN, RUN and want a home with a large fenced backyard so I have plenty of space to run around when the urge for some zoomies hits me.Right now, I don't know many commands but I'm eager to learn! I get a little jumpy when I get excited but I am ready to learn good doggy manners. Are you ready to be my teacher? I love treats so I will learn very quickly! A lot of energy means a lot of LOVE! If you will give me time, training, and patience, I promise to try very hard to be the best dog ever. If you have a dog, we might have fun playing together so bring them to meet me! I don't know if I'll chase cats since I haven't been around many here at FMAR. If you have room in your heart and home for me, I'm waiting to meet you!If you would like to meet me, please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. I am neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care I have received.**Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

Story
Are you looking for a dog to brighten up your life and fill your heart with joy? My name is Muffin and I will bring you happiness and laughter every day with my bubbly personality! Everyone tells me that I'm the perfect size and with my bouncy spirit and playful energy, I'm hard to resist! I'm full of energy, fun, and bounce and I'm looking for a home where I'll get lots of playtime and adventures. I love treats so that will make training easier. I also love to cuddle (after I get all of my energy drained). Since I can get very excited, I'm looking for a home without cats or children under 12. I might like a dog brother or sister if we have good vibes when we meet. If you would like to meet me, please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. Story
Hey there friends, I'm a sweet girl named Pita. If you follow the world of Facebook, I was dumped with my sibling and parents at Crosswinds Marsh. My owner moved and left us behind. It's their loss and your gain because I am an AMAZING girl. I love other dogs, I love people, and I have a steady calm energy that could be perfect for almost any home.I am a foster to adopt pup because I tested positive for heartworm. If you're not familiar with heartworm, fear not the disease is not contagious, meaning that a dog cannot catch the disease from being near an infected dog. Heartworm disease is only spread through the bite of a mosquito. The treatment for Heartworm means that I have to really limit my activity and keep my cool vibes for the next 8 to 12 weeks. If you take me home, FMAR will be with you at every step of my treatment! If you would like to meet me, please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. I am spayed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Rye here! If you follow the world of Facebook, I was dumped with my kiddo's and partner at Crosswinds Marsh. My owner moved and left us behind. It's their loss and your gain because I am an AMAZING boy. I do well with other dogs (given the right intro). I love people and my favorite thing to do is to have you sit with me while I play in the yard. I have a habit of always needing to have a hard chew toy near me. My teeth definitely show some wear and tear from doing this but It's what helps keep me relaxed. I hope that you're interested enough to come out to visit me. I'm a simple guy who just wants to be loved. If you would like to meet me, please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. Story
Apply at www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/sms-a-50 A few months ago, we rescued our incredibly frightened yet endearing Nova from the Romulus Animal Shelter. Nova had been seen in the area, eluding capture for about three months before she was finally secured. We managed to rescue her just one day before her scheduled euthanasia. Nova has made significant progress but remains very wary of people. Adding to this little lady's challenging story, she tested positive for heartworm. She had formed a bond with another dog, Sky, at her foster home and was beginning to unwind when, sadly, Sky died unexpectedly. Her foster mother has been providing her with extra care and assurance that all is well. Having received treatment, Nova is now in search of a place to call home. The rescue organization will cover the treatment costs in full. We are looking for a tranquil home for her, ideally with a retired individual, where there is minimal chaos and someone is frequently present to shower her with affection throughout the day. Nova is incredibly sweet and will quickly become affectionate.
