Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. My name is Fairing and I’m looking for my forever home and a new best friend. I love to cuddle and hang out with my peeps. I know I look big in my pictures but I'm really smaller than I look. I’m hoping my new best friend works from home so I can hog all their attention, I really don’t like being alone, but if not that’s ok too. I just want to be your one and only and follow you wherever you go. I love to ride in the car, play with my squeaky toys and explore outside. My foster mom says I’m such a good girl because I don’t beg for food. I’m not a fan of the crate so if you use one, I won’t be a good fit. I’m pretty smart and know how to sit, lay down, stay and come when asked. I need to be the only dog in the house because dogs scare me. Back in April of 2022 I was diagnosed with an FCE which occurs when disc material becomes stuck in the spinal artery, causing an ischemic event or stroke. This has caused some lameness in my hind right leg but I promise you this doesn’t really slow me down much. Sometimes when I’m feeling lazy, I will drag my foot a little but most of the time I walk and run using it just fine (please watch videos on my page). I can’t do more than a few steps at a time unless someone helps me out. I have a fancy sling and harness just in case I need it.  A home with kids is ok as long as they are old enough to respect my needs. Please check our event page for my attendance, I know you will love me once we meet.  If you are interested in meeting, fostering or adopting me, please fill out an online application. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Hi I’m Proximo but go by Thorfinn now. I’ve had a bit of a rough start to life after being found in the streets with my sister as a puppy. I am a very sweet and lovable guy who likes to curl up next to my person when we watch tv, sleep, or on days when we’re just couch potatoes. I also like to go on walks and I know some basic commands like sit, shake, wait and down. I think my favorite thing in the whole world (besides lots of love and pets) is chewing on bully sticks but don’t worry I never chew on the wrong things. I know shoes are for wearing and not chewing. I also love squeaky toys and repeatedly pushing them to make them squeak, something about it just makes me so happy. I’ve never had an accident in my fosters house and I ring a bell when I need to go outside. I love to also run and play outside. When other dogs bark at me I just ignore them and do my own thing. When given the opportunity I love to play with other dogs but sometimes I don’t know when enough is enough and then I’m given a little break. I’m just so submerged in play I guess I just miss the cues sometimes but I’ve never been aggressive. I’ve been with the rescue longer than I thought I would have been. All I want is someone or a family with older calm kids to call my forever home and love me forever. If you are interested in meeting, fostering or adopting me, please fill out an online application. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Hi there! My name originally was Daya but I go by Rue and my three favorite things are food, cozy pillows, and cuddles (ideally all happening at once). I am content to curl up in a ball and sleep the day away but I do have bursts of energy and I LOVE to chew so I need a home where I can get the exercise and mental stimulation I need. I love my people and want nothing more than to cuddle up and be with them. Meeting new people can sometimes be a little bit scary for me. While I can meet new adults in the right environment, I am very scared of little kids so my new home needs to be just for me and my adults. I like my crate (especially with a fuzzy blanket). I would benefit from a patient and experienced owner. I’ve never lived with a cat but I have lived with other dogs my whole life. My ideal situation would be one where I could be the only dog in the house but if you want to meet and have a pooch already don’t let that stop you! A person to cuddle with on a sunny day is all I really need. If you are interested in meeting me, adopting me or fostering me please fill out an online application. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Hi I'm Drako! I am a very sweet gentle guy but very strong. I am very curious about the cats in my foster home but have not met them yet. I am potty trained and crate trained. While I am strong, I am working on my leash skills and getting better each day. I usually start a walk off pulling but correct well and shortly in adjust to your pace. I do tend to get antsy/jumpy if left alone for too long. I'm super smart I know sit, stay, down and shake with both paws. I have met a couple other dogs and got along great. I have yet to meet any kids besides older teens. Do you have a spot to snuggle with me? I promise I'll be your best friend! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hello, my name is Charlie. I’m a friendly, loving, energetic two-year-old neutered male who loves to cuddle. My hobbies include going for long walks, running in the yard, playing tug-a-war, and playing catch. I love to play, but at the end of the day, I love nothing more than a comfy place to cuddle next to my mom or dad. I also really enjoy giving hugs! I do better hanging out and playing with older kids. I’m house-trained and crate-trained. I love positive reinforcement when learning new instructions and tricks. I prefer all the attention so I would do best in a home where I am the only pet. I am a great companion and my perfect home would be with a family that is active and can give me the love and attention I need. If you’re looking for a dog to go on adventures during the day and a great cuddle bug at night I am your guy! With boundless energy and a heart as big as her wagging tail, Berrien is always ready for adventure and affection. She is not just friendly with other dogs but also makes friends wherever she goes. She does live with cats but seems to just ignore them and move on. She does have “happy-tail” so its just best to just gate her off in an area and not put her in a cage. She is still working on potty training but is doing good so far! She’s still very puppyish and plays rough so older children are best!!!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Meet Diana! This beauty queen is eagerly waiting for her forever family to walk through that door. She can be a little nervous at times and looks to her people for guidance and reassurance as she navigates new situations. Her new family will love watching her blossom and grow confidence each day with their help. Diana loves playtime and can't wait to have lots of toys at home all to herself. She is an athletic little girl and loves getting outside, going for walks, and stretching her legs. After some playtime or exercise she would love nothing more than to cuddle up next to you for a nap. Diana was uncomfortable meeting dogs here in the shelter and is requesting she not have to share her home with another doggy friend. Story
Meet Roscoe! This big guy is ready to find his forever home. Roscoe is currently spending some well deserved time in a foster home to get out of the hustle and bustle of shelter life. Roscoe's foster says he is a sweet and silly boy that absolutely loves going for nice long walks to sniff and explore. He was a little nervous when first going to his fosters home and new things around the house scared him. With a little time and patience the foster has helped him build confidence and overcome his fears. Once comfortable, Roscoe can show off his energetic and playful puppy side. He loves to play with plush squeaky toys and would like to have plenty of those around to play with, and also to help him calm down when he's gotten a little overly excited. This sweet guy enjoys snacking on yummy treats, playing with all sorts of toys, and hanging out with his favorite people. Due to Roscoe's nervousness in new situations, and playful energetic side once he is comfortable, he would do best in a home with older children. He is searching for a patient owner that can work with him as he transitions to a new environment and routine and give him time to accliamte. Roscoe lives with a senior dog and middle aged dog in his foster home and, while he is a little too much for the senior, has gotten along well with the other dog and she seems to help him navigate new situations. He may do best with social dog savvy dogs in the home to hep him burn off excess energy and show him fun new dog things! Does this fun guy sound like a good fit for you?Roscoe is currently spending some time in a foster home while waiting for his forever home. To schedule a meet and greet with Roscoe, please call us at 866-648-6263An ideal home:Meet children 10+ prior, can be nervous at first, once comfortable is very energeticRecommend meeting dogs

Say "hello" to Mikey! This handsome guy is excited to meet you today and hopes you'll take him home. In his new digs he wishes for plenty of space for romping around with his people and all his favorite toys. He is very excited for play and can be a bit jumpy so he must meet any children in the home prior to adoption and would likely do best with older children. He is always thrilled to join you for a walk on a sunny day or relax by your side and watch out the windows on rainy days. He hopes every day he gets as many pets as you can give in exchange for wonderful doggy kisses. When meeting dogs here at the shelter Mikey tended to be little much for most dogs. He will need to meet all dogs in the home before adoption to make sure he is a good fit for your family. If he were to make a canine companion it would most likely be with a very tolerant dog. Does Mikey sound like the perfect addition to your family? Ask to meet him today! Mikey's Ideal Home:-Must meet children, can be easily excitable during play -Recommend children 8 years and older-Must meet dogs before adoption

Meet Dove! This beautiful girl is patiently waiting for her new forever home. She was a bit fearful when entering the hustle and bustle of shelter life, but some extra time to decompress and plenty of tasty treats helped win her heart quickly. Once settled in she is a sweet playful girl who loves nothing more than her tennis ball. She hopes she will get to spend many afternoons in the backyard with you playing fetch. Not only does she enjoy a nice game of fetch, but also gets a big kick out of romping around with her favorite people. She sometimes forgets how big she is when she plays, so we recommend she meet any children in the home before adoption. She is also very food motivated and ready to learn. She has already learned "sit" and can't wait to see what else you'll teach her. We recommend Dove has an opportunity to meet dogs in the home before adoption, she enjoys saying hello and making friends, but she isn't a huge fan of rough and tumble play. She would do best with a low-key, social dog who will respect her boundaries and requests for space. Does Dove sound like your new best friend? Ask to meet her today! Dove's Ideal Home:- Recommend meeting kids, can be a bit jumpy during play - Recommend meeting dogs, would do best with a low-key, social dog

Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Do you have tennis balls, like a lot of them, if not will you buy some? If your answer is yes than you might be the home for me! See I am simple girl but I do require lots of tennis balls!! I like other toys but nothing gets me as excited as having tennis balls! My foster says I am just a happy gal, that is good with all people even kiddos! I am house broken, but I may have had a couple accidents but I am still recovering from taking care of my 5 babies for the last several weeks. They all have found their forever homes and now it’s my turn. I was a great mom but my foster promised I never ever have to do it again, which sounds perfect to me! I really love my foster home. See, I also get alone time and have my own room, I have adults and kids who play fetch with me a few times a day. They all helped me get better on the leash, to come when I was called, I am actually even starting to learn how to settle down and watch TV. I would probably like to stay here but they have some big dogs here, I just don’t like when they get in my way. My foster thinks I will much prefer to be the only dog in a home.  I think that is true at least to start. The cats here don’t bother me. Did I mention my NEED for tennis balls, oh I did, okay. Well that’s all for now. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. April 25, 2024, 5:48 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. **PLEASE READ ENTIRE BIO BEFORE APPLYING*** Lance is loving, treat motivated, goofy, eager to please his hoo-mans and has the biggest vocabulary of any dog I’ve ever encountered—his vocal arias are amazing, from tiny soft squeaks to big base notes. Most of his talk is about treats and food, and how he would like more of it. He loves to snuggle and get ear skritchies.  He adores his blankies, warm jammies, coats and hats. He also has his own stash of favorite stuffies. He loves helping pre-wash the dishes and working out in the barn every morning. He is very well trained. He has commands for going to his mat, as well as putting on his “fancy pants” —more on that below. He is an amazing dog looking for the bestest home ever. Lance came to rescue as a pup, with an injury that prevented him from using all four legs.  But nobody told Lance that. He began to stand, walk, sit, jump and eventually to run and do play-bows like any other normal dog.  Lance’s recovery is nothing short of a miracle. We think that his injury was caused by a human, as this was common to see in the area where he came from --San Antonio, Texas.  Around the time we got Lance, another adult dog was locked in between two gates at the neck and his head was beaten severely with a stick. He hung that way for several hours before Animal Control arrived. As a puppy, we think Lance's head was likely put/stuck under a gate, and he struggled to free himself, damaging his spine and lower leg bones in the process. We did not think Lance deserved to die because of what had happened to him. His spinal injury is at T-3, right in front of the shoulder blades. It is covered with a protective layer of thick scar tissue, and according to the Rehab Vet, it should not be able to be dislodged. But, active play with other large dogs and where humping and T-boning from the side could re-injure him.  Lance lives with other dogs, but we manage his play and interactions carefully. Lance must be walked using a gentle leader head collar, as a regular collar/harness would put too much pressure on his injury site, which is just behind where a regular collar would sit. Nerves begin to heal at 18 months out from the injury, so this pup has been working on gaining strength in his hindquarters.  He has superb neck and shoulder development and muscular rear legs, but he has a little bit different stance when viewed from the side. When he walks and runs he has his own style of movement, due to his crooked limbs. His nickname here is “Launch" because he can jump to amazing heights, and bounces around when he gets excited. He can jump up on the couch with ease. So, how is it that this Superpup has not found his forever home?  Well, you see, it’s his pooper. Lance sometimes has issues with poop control, sometimes when he is asleep.  His nerves are still regenerating, and he is 80% successful, but poop happens. He goes out for short walks several times a day.  It is becoming rare for him to have an accident inside the house, of any variety. He has gone from zero control over his bowels and urinary tract to almost complete recovery.  Lance has worked hard on his potty training. He is about the equivalent of a 5-6 month old pup.  We use belly bands when we know there will be lots of excitement, and Lance is trained to go to his mat and wait to put on his “fancy pants” whenever we ask. We are looking for an extra special home for Lance: A positive but firm training style is a must.  Lance is a gentle soul at heart, but he can become overwhelmed and frightened sometimes. He can also be protective of his home, e.g. he barks at jumps up when the UPS man makes deliveries. At home, he can be reactive to vehicles, but when at events located on busy roads and in parking lots with traffic, he has exhibited no reactivity. Previous Bully Breed experience is strongly preferred, and you need to have owned a dog before. Patience and knowledge of how to care for an older or debilitated dog are very important.  There are things that Lance cannot physically control, so management and routine are very important. The best home for Lance would be willing to commit to swim/underwater treadmill therapy, and be prepared to do maintenance of Lance’s joints in the future should arthritis set in. If you have a swimming pool, this could be done at home. Another option would be an inflatable pool in summer, and swim at an Animal Rehab Center in the winter.  Right now we use turmeric, fish oil, and other supplements, but in the future Adequan injections and other supportive measures may be needed to keep him comfortable. Lance is a country mouse, and is looking for a Zen Garden type of home.  An older or calm female large breed dog of the same age might be a match. Lance currently lives with L/XL male dogs with no issues. He would love at least one doting human of his own, but no young children please.  Teens are okay, as long as they are dog savvy. Lance enjoys car rides and wears a harness.  He loves going out to pet stores and has visited home depot.  He loves getting attention from everyone. He has behaved very well at crowded adoption events. He has learned to ignore cats. A doggy door into a secure yard, an expen or gated area inside on non-carpeted surfaces for ease of clean up, soft washable bedding and/or litter box system would be great tools to help Lance continue to work on his potty control. Lance eats premium dog food and raw dog food. His digestive system does best on that diet and we are willing to provide education and support to help you continue this diet. Lance must be kept lean in order to reduce pressure on his joints. He cannot be allowed to become overweight. So, if you are the unicorn home described above, please send in your application.  If you are not the right match for Lance, please consider becoming a sponsor. Or perhaps send him a toy.  He loves his stuffies and woobies very much. Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 25, 2024, 5:48 pm
