Story
Ellie is a three year old purebred pitbull. She is on the smaller side at about 40 pounds. Ellie was found on the side of the street at about 9 months of age and has been in our care since. Ellie loves to cuddle, go on walks, and has been trained off leash with an e-collar. She is trained to stay off furniture. She is very food driven and will do anything for a treat! She absolutely LOVES people and gets very excited when meeting new friends. Due to being on the street for months, Ellie does have some qualities that have put us in the position to rehome her. Ellie is dog aggressive. On a walk, Ellie is continuing to work on growling/lunging at nearby dogs (or houses that have a dog in them). We have been able to train her to live with our goldendoodle, but she will snap at certain triggers (food, water, toys, etc.)

Story
They named me Echo.  Funny name for a deaf dog, right?  Being hearing impaired doesn't stop me from being a happy, outgoing girl.  I understand hand signals for sit, stay, down and come but could really benefit from someone who can teach me more ways to help them communicate with me.  I catch on pretty quick and always look to my person for guidance.   I absolutely love people and get the wiggles when it's time for a walk.  Despite my challenge, I'm a good girl who always keeps her kennel clean.  I'm fond of a good belly crawl in the grass and long walks.  I love people so much that I want to keep them for myself.  No furry brothers or sisters for me, please.  I will settle for nothing less than being the queen of my castle.April 18, 2024, 12:50 pm

Story
Ruby Red Reign! This beautiful and petite girl is about 1 years old and is a 40lbs pitbull mix. Reign has lived in a home her entire life which consisted of 3 female dogs and a cat. Reign came to our boarding facility so that our volunteers could meet her and she met one of our male dogs and she did amazing with him as well! She is high energy and would love a home that can keep her active. Maybe a doggy sibling to romp around with? Some human kiddos to play fetch with? Or even a lovely adult family that can spoil her! As you can see, Reign would do great in practically any home. She currently lives with multiple dogs. Reign is a young and happy dog looking for a family that can provide what she needs to be happy! This pretty pup loves people and doesn't even know the concept of a "stranger". Everyone is a friend in Reign's eyes! Reign does get a tad nervous in the car so a little bit of encouragement in this area would go along way. Lots of dogs associate cars with scary things and Reign just isn't used to the big, scary, moving metal things that we humans depend on. Reign is a young and impressionable soul so a little bit of practice and TLC, Reign could be your next road trip buddy! If road trips aren't you're thing...well even better! Whoever has the chance to adopt sweet little Reign will quite possibly the luckiest family ever!April 18, 2024, 12:50 pm

Story
So Leona – we call her Sweet Pea. Or Sweet Pea Lee. She’s around 4 years old. Buckle up for this wild ride of a story! Leona has been handed tragedies and just the wrong cards of life. MABBR was asked to help her find a home because the shelter she came from is located in a city that is weary of adopting pit bulls, but Leona is just so sweet! Here we go: Leona’s Timeline: Leona came to a shelter initially as a stray, found emaciated and dehydrated. Shelter got her fat, adopted her out to a family, she was returned for being “growly” around children. Back at the shelter, she stopped eating and went to their Puppies for Parole Program. Had a best friend that was a 10lb rat terrier. P4P was shut down when Covid happened so back to the shelter she went. She stopped eating again, became barrier reactive, and that’s where her current foster mom came in. Her foster brought her home, put some meat back on her bones. She was barrier reactive through doors of the house and through her kennel. Her foster tried intros after a few months but she gives mixed signals. So Leona was deemed best as one dog only home at the time. She was adopted and then her adopter passed away very suddenly after about 4 months in his home. She came back to her foster again in March 2022 and has been with them since. THEN she broke her leg in her foster’s backyard somehow. (It was a nice day and the back door propped open so she could go in and out as she pleased in the back yard…Was barking at something and by the time her foster got to the back door she was yelping and dragging/holding her back leg) So then came the surgery/vet stay/healing process. Her leg may never fully recover. It hasn’t yet. It’s quite gimpy but she will put weight on it, though unstable. The shelter that Leona was being fostered at reached out to MABBR in November of 2022 and Leona is officially a MABBR dog, but still being fostered with her previous foster! About Leona according to her long term foster: Other dogs: She has made leaps and bounds with barrier reactivity. She DOES get along with the foster’s short bully mix and she acts like she wants to play with any smaller fosters through the kennel. She has been allowed to play with foster puppies as well. She’s great at playing gently and correcting gently when it comes to them. She has corrected her dog foster sibling (Ro). Her foster says “it was a quick correction and simply just communication. And to be honest, Ro is a BAD about wanting all the toys for himself and guarding them. He tried to take the one she had in her mouth and she just gave him a little bark sass, understandably so. We do not normally openly feed but she’s been around food bowls and had treats with him around and completely fine” People: She doesn’t know any strangers. She loves all and wants their attention. Toddlers are probably a no, just because she’s big and silly and has zero boundaries with love. She will barrel right through them. She a big girl. Probably 70-80lbs. As far as resource guarding with people – no. Not at all, she is a big love that just wants attention from her humans. Cats: no cats for her as she has a high prey drive. Other behavior: She IS growly but it’s grumbles with toys. She’s a talker. Her foster assumes that’s what was going on with the first adopters and they didn’t know any better. She talks with toys in her mouth. She LOVES to burrow and snuggle. She HATES being cold. She doesn’t want to be outside. She does her business and wants right back in. She is such a LOVE. She was a favorite at the vet office because even though she went in there to have shots or people mess with her leg, she was so excited and happy for the attention.April 18, 2024, 12:50 pm

Story
BEAUTIFUL NOVA! Nova is literally 1.5 years old. Very sweet, loves all people. She is sensitive and reactive to dogs on walks but has been working on manners and does well with muzzle training. Nova does great in a kennel and loves car rides. She needs someone who will set her up for success and help her continue her current training. Nova has done well with puppies while being on leash but needs to be an only dog to be the most successful. Nova was adopted from MABBR as a puppy and returned 1 year later. Nova is on a mission to find her true forever home. She wants to be loved so badly and deserves nothing less! Come and meet Nova, you won’t regret it! We just know in our hearts that if a foster home or forever home would take this beautiful girl into their homes, she would learn fast and easy. Right now she is in a boarding facility so effectively training her is hard due to the stressful environment she is in. She wants to please her humans and she is very smart.April 18, 2024, 12:50 pm

Story
We got Duke from KC pet project about 4 months ago he was 3 months old and my family absolutely love him. He came into our lives at a dark time when we needed him after a traumatic car incident. At the time me and my wife were working from home and we had all the time and attention in the world to give Duke. We are both back to work full time and our kids are in multiple sports so we are never home to give him the attention he needs and deserve. Duke is the best dog in the world and deserve so much more love and attention. He deserve a family that can give him that. We just cant right now and it absolutely kills us to have to rehome him but its best for him.

Story
He's a very happy puppy that loves to play. He has always immediately made friends with anyone that visits family or otherwise. He tends to play rough with others but will stop if things get to be too much. We are hoping he can go to a home that will be able to play with him and let him run around. He needs attention and love and will be quick to return it twice over.

Story
Stewey/Stewie/Stuey was found by PRCKC Outreach December 26th. He'd been hanging around outside an apartment complex for at least 5 days in the cold and rain. It took some coaxing, but the Outreach Team was able to gain Stuart's trust enough to get him to a safe place. Stuart was transferred to us and quickly found a foster home where he is adjusting to being a puppy. He's unsure about new people, especially men but warms up with a little patience and food. Stuart is kennel trained, walks nicely on a leash, and is mostly house trained. Understandably he's a little afraid to go outside in the cold. He has a fantastic pack of foster dogs to help teach him how to be a puppy and a part of a family. Stuart likes to snuggle with his human foster parents, nap curled up with one of his foster siblings or with the laundry. I'm guessing he'll be about 60-70 lbs full grown (he only weighs ~33# now and he's still skinny).
